As women of a certain age, very few people talk about what happens next when it comes to children leaving the nest, how our bodies change as we get older, or how relationships with friends and family and even our spouses change as we get older. We created a Podcast that embodies subjects you would talk about with your closest friends. The things that you would say, "Oh, that happens to me too." Because, in times of uncertainty, it helps to know that you are not alone. This podcast uses the following third-party services for analysis: Chartable - https://chartable.com/privacy

Boring Books for Bedtime is a weekly sleep podcast in which we calmly, quietly read something rather boring to silence the brain chatter keeping you awake. Think Aristotle, Thoreau, and whoever wrote the 1897 Sears Catalogā€”mostly nonfiction, mostly old, a perfect blend of vaguely-but-not-too interesting. If you're on Team Sleepless, lie back, take a deep breath, and let us read you to rest.

With guided meditations, bedtime stories and relaxing ambient audio Tracks To Relax offers something for everyone. New sleep meditation episodes available every Tuesday and most weekends!

Listening to guided sleep meditations offers a multitude of benefits for both the mind and body, contributing to overall well-being and improved sleep quality. Here are some of the key benefits associated with this practice:

Promotes Relaxation:

Guided sleep meditations typically involve soothing voices, calming music, and relaxation techniques such as deep breathing and progressive muscle relaxation. These elements help induce a state of relaxation, making it easier to let go of stress and tension accumulated throughout the day.

Reduces Anxiety and Stress:

By guiding the listener through relaxation exercises and mindfulness techniques, guided sleep meditations can alleviate anxiety and reduce stress levels. The focus on the present moment and the gentle encouragement to let go of worries can help quiet the mind and ease racing thoughts, facilitating a sense of calmness and inner peace.

Improves Sleep Quality: One of the primary benefits of guided sleep meditations is their ability to promote better sleep quality. By helping the body and mind unwind before bedtime, these meditations can facilitate a smoother transition into sleep and reduce the likelihood of tossing and turning throughout the night. The deep relaxation induced by guided meditations can also help improve the overall duration and depth of sleep.

Enhances Mindfulness:

Many guided sleep meditations incorporate mindfulness practices, such as body scans and breath awareness, which cultivate present moment awareness and mindfulness. Regular practice of mindfulness can lead to increased self-awareness, emotional regulation, and a greater appreciation for life's experiences.

Encourages Positive Thinking:

Guided sleep meditations often include affirmations and visualizations aimed at promoting positive thinking and self-empowerment. By repeatedly exposing the mind to positive statements and images, listeners can gradually shift their mindset toward one of optimism, gratitude, and self-love, which can have profound effects on mental well-being and overall outlook on life.

Supports Mental Health:

Engaging in guided sleep meditations can be particularly beneficial for individuals struggling with mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, or insomnia. The combination of relaxation techniques, mindfulness practices, and positive affirmations can help alleviate symptoms, reduce rumination, and improve overall psychological resilience.

Facilitates Self-Care:

Taking time to listen to guided sleep meditations before bed can serve as a form of self-care, allowing individuals to prioritize their mental and emotional well-being. This simple yet powerful practice encourages self-compassion and nurtures a deeper connection with oneself, ultimately fostering greater levels of self-awareness and self-love.

Overall, incorporating guided sleep meditations into your bedtime routine can have profound benefits for both your physical and mental health, promoting relaxation, reducing stress, improving sleep quality, and supporting overall well-being.

Most people donā€™t know that youā€™re considered a cancer survivor at the moment of diagnosis. It wasnā€™t always this way. Sixty years ago, a cancer diagnosis was a death sentence. And if you did survive, you were left to figure out the rest of your life on your own.

But some survivors demanded something different, something better.

This is The Cancer Mavericks, a deep-dive narrative into the people who fought for better treatment, forced doctors to listen, and pushed America to see the human side of the disease.

Episodes of this series will publish monthly through the end of December 2021 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the signing of the National Cancer Act of 1971.

Hello and welcome to the Friday ReFresh, a Ben and Travis podcast. Iā€™m Ben from Ben and Travis and I have been working as a minister for 23 years and as a counselor for the last 10 years. I recognize that there are a lot of things in our world that impact different people in different ways. Working in counseling Iā€™ve learned that there are a lot more things that can rock our world that I never knew existed. Many of those things are hidden struggles that others may never know about ā€” or at least they donā€™t know about until something comes along and quite literally ā€œopens up a canā€ of past trauma or hidden struggles. So I invite you to come along with me on this journey of exploration and understanding through this podcast which offers short episodes and hopefully informational and motivational material to help you as you prepare for the last day of the week. Not every episode will be about a mental health struggle but there will certainly be weeks that are. Sometimes we will just hope to give you a boost as you close out the week. However, there are some rules of engagement here though - some understanding that I want you to have before you agree to go on the journey. 1. Keep An Open Mind - Some of the things we talk about here may be new territory. It may be like one of those movies like Journey to the Center of the Earth where you see things that seem hard to comprehend. I know there were a lot of things that were hard for me to grasp at first and has certainly been hard to relate to others. So think of it like Journey to the Center of Your Soul. 2. Itā€™s an Ever-Changing Landscape - The counseling field is something that seems to change all the time so understand that I may say some things that may be different than what you might have been taught in the past. It may also change as I record these over time. It is also true that various theories of counseling reveal different techniques for dealing with things so I will likely be sharing things from a wide variety of therapeutic mindsets. 3. No Two Experiences are the Same - Just because we share a thought about anxiety or depression doesnā€™t mean it will apply to every person who hears and so this is certainly not a replacement for good person centered counseling - but you may very well find some helpful tips for various things you may face. So, do you think you are good to start that journey? I hope so. Travis and I hope through this short podcast, along with the weekly Helping, Healing, Humor Podcast and our website to bring a better understanding of mental health to all people but especially to the church. It is a part of us that has been ignored for far too long. I hope that even in this short little podcast to help us have a little more understanding.

Welcome to "The Touched Out Podcast," where your host, Carter, explores the journey of parenthood from expecting parent to veteran parent. Each episode features a new guest who shares their experiences, struggles, and victories as they navigate the ups and downs of parenting.

The podcast is an open and judgement-free space where I have honest conversations about the challenges of being a parent. I believe that parenthood is a journey that never truly ends, and that mental health is a vital aspect of that journey. Guests share their insights and offer advice to help other parents cope with the stresses and emotions that come with raising a child.

The phrase "Touched Out" reflects the feeling of overwhelm that many parents experience when their children constantly demand their attention. I understand that parenting can be exhausting and emotionally draining, and I want to provide a safe space where guests and listeners can share their experiences without fear of judgement.

My Guests come from all walks of life and share a variety of perspectives on parenthood. Some talk about their experiences with postpartum depression, while others discuss the challenges of managing work and family life. Each episode is a unique and personal story, and I hope that the listeners can find something to relate to in each conversation.

This podcast is a safe space where parents can come together and share their experiences. I believe that by talking openly about our struggles and emotions, we can help to break down the stigma surrounding mental health and create a more supportive and understanding community.

So if you're an expecting or veteran parent, or just someone interested in learning more about the mental health aspects of parenting, tune in to "The Touched Out Podcast" for open and honest conversations about the challenges and joys of parenthood.

How should we live in this world when so much is changed? Katherine May, author of Wintering and the Electricity of Every Living Thing, asks those most intimate with the effects of these transformations: what now?

How do we stay soft in a world determined to harden? How can we bear witness to suffering without being dragged into despair? How do we ride the waves of our anger, sorrow and exhaustion, and still find space for wonder, hope and joy? How can we possibly help?

In a series of frank, thoughtful and deeply personal conversations, How We Live Now will explore the cultural, social and spiritual mindset for this long moment.

I promise you, you're not a weak-willed loser with no self-control. There are a lot of reasons why we can't control the way we drink- trauma, lack of coping skills, stress, anger, anxiety. Plus, as you'll learn in my podcast, alcohol takes advantage of our vulnerabilities to hook us, then it changes our brains to keep us stuck and reliant on alcohol. It's not about willpower. In the Sober Powered Podcast, I use science, psychology, and compassion to help you understand why you use self-destructive coping skills like alcohol, what happens in the brain to make drinking spiral out of control and prevent us from drinking in moderation, and how to develop the coping skills and emotional sobriety you need to quit drinking and stay sober. About me: I quit drinking on November 9, 2019. I have a master's in biology and I'm a certified anger management specialist and crisis intervention specialist. Not sure where to start?
