In Season 2 of the series we will share a new collection of surprising and unusual stories from the history of science. In each episode we will feature two seemingly unrelated stories from the past. Then, Dan Riskin will connect the dots between those stories and offer insight into how that history impacts modern medical research. We are learning from the past so we can understand the present, and inform the future. Along the way we will learn how a professor at Stanford turned mild mannered young men into cruel vicious prison guards, and how the Irish Potato Famine really had nothing to do with potatoes. We will ask questions such as: “Did we learn the wrong lesson from the sinking of the Titanic?” “How many people did Orson Wells actually fool?” and “What exactly is Maple Syrup Urine Disease?” In these ten episodes we will also follow along with SciMar as they take their breakthrough science into the testing phase. Will the things they discovered in a row of test tubes in the lab be repeatable in real people? And will that prove to be the final cure for type 2 diabetes? So, if you are intrigued by science, get excited about the process of discovery, and want to have the best stories at your next dinner party, this is the show for you. We promise a season full of guinea pigs, Corona beer, shipwrecks, and cobras. -- The series is produced by SciMar, a medical research company developing a new way to detect, treat and cure type 2 diabetes. Rather than insulin from the pancreas, they are focused on hepatalin, a hormone that comes from the liver. We will use historical stories to shine a light on where this modern company is headed.

Emma got pretty passionate about sharing this discovery, and in 2021 wrote a book called The F Word, Confessions of a Cheesecake Lover - that became an Amazon best-seller in 69 categories.
The book is a collection of hints and tips for anyone struggling with processed food, sugar, lack of willpower, guilt cycles, yo-yo dieting, increasing waistline, mood, focus or energy.
This podcast comes from my desire to teach you how to stop the food hunts, kick your cravings, to teach you the mistruths about food that we've been told, to correct the lies we were fed about fat and help you never fall off another diet.
Ever. Yes really.
Have a listen and feel free to share with a friend.I am passionate about spreading the word about helping people lose belly fat, reverse diabetes, balance blood sugar and help people understand why they are struggling.Within a few weeks of getting off sugar, toxic seed oils and processed food, I felt unbelievably good - I was bouncing out of bed.

Co-host Chef Babette Davis owns Stuff I Eat vegan restaurant in Inglewood, California with husband Rondal Davis. WWPN producer and co-host Marci Kenon checks in weekly with the 65-years-young celebrity chef and fitness enthusiast known as much for her incredible physique as she is known for her vegan soul food platter. Chef Babette is an entrepreneur and social media darling with lots of experience and strategies to share with you about transitioning into a healthier lifestyle and staying youthful and fit while running a thriving business and building a stellar brand. Chef Babette is an unapologetic vegan whose lifestyle changes in exercise and nutrition relieved her of asthma and eczema. “I used to be so rashed up I didn’t even look human,” the beauty recalls. Chef Babette’s restaurant clientele includes retired basketball player John Salley, music producer Jermaine Dupri and Reverend Michael Beckwith, spiritual teacher featured in the book and movie “The Secret.”

Perhaps the most important aspect of the environment for any organism is the quality and quantity of nutrition it provides. These factors also have decisive, albeit mainly long-term, effects on human health and development. The type of nutrition received during the prenatal period and in early childhood has an influence on the risk of developing obesity, type 2 diabetes or cardiovascular disease in later life. The project EARNEST brought together scientists from many countries who were attempting to identify the factors that contribute to this phenomenon of "early nutrition programming" and seeking ways to reverse its effects. The project, which was supported by the EU, ran from 2005 until October 2010 and was coordinated by Professor Koletzko of the Children's Hospital, University of Munich. On 6 May 2010, the latest findings in this young and multidisciplinary research area were presented at an international conference on "The Power of Programming".
