play

02/11/25 • 56 min

Jen Grieves has had some amazing life experiences despite living with type 1 diabetes. Jen shares how she’s gone from feeling like she was the ‘only person in the world’ who felt like she did in regard to the burden of living with type 1 diabetes, to connecting to a global community by sharing real stories and hilarious anecdotes online, and having candid chats through her own podcast, Type 1 on 1.

David chats about the differences between his restrictive early diabetes management and the diabetes technology he uses today (despite declaring himself ‘not an insulin pump person’). He reveals how advances in diabetes technology have reduced his food anxiety so that he can enjoy eating out again and tech also gave him the flexibility he needed during triathlon races to compete alongside non-diabetics. So much so that he went onto complete an Ironman, very poignantly with the source of his motivation - his young daughter - crossing the finish line with him.
