I share my experience, strength and hope with you regarding my own recovery from alcoholism through the 12 Steps in Alcoholics Anonymous. By the grace of God I've remained sober since I was 18 years old (1989). I started drinking and using drugs very young. I got sober during a time when there were not a lot of young people in AA. Moreover, I was homeless. I got sober in the very same location I drank. I'm passionate about recovery, and about sharing my incredible experience with others in every way I can. I am sincerely happy, joyous, and free.

Mindful Recovery is a podcast devoted to helping individuals who are struggling with trauma and addictions. Mindfulness is a research-based method for dealing with anxiety and trauma. Psychological and neuroscience studies have found that it is possible to increase the growth of neuronal pathways and retrain our brains in coping with these issues. Basic techniques like learning to pay attention to our own breathing and looking honestly and non-judgmentally at our broken spaces can begin to create an emotional holding space that allows us to live without reacting to the pain and begin deciding how we want to act on the world we find ourselves in. This becomes the beginning of recovery and, thus, the beginning of a new and abundant life in recovery. Whether you struggle with anxiety, mental illness, complex trauma, PTSD, addictions or a multitude of other problems, becoming mindful is the first step along that path. Here we provide practice, education and support in beginning your journey to healing.

In this podcast, we discuss mystical works of literature, primarily Taoist text, and how they relate to alcohol recovery. Taoist Philosophy can be an excellent tool for embracing the idea of a “Higher Power.” Nature offers all of the examples necessary for a concept of a source of all life, much different but yet very similar in many ways to more traditional religious thinking. Here is a link to an online version of the Tao Te Ching; https://ttc.tasuki.org/display:Year:1972,1988,1996,2004/section:1 Thanks for checking out our podcast. If you listen and enjoy this podcast, please share with your friends in recovery! Do you want to stop drinking? Does alcoholism or addiction run in your family? Are you considering how to get sober? Are you seriously thinking about sobriety for the first time being alcohol is controlling your life as never before? Has the idea of a "Higher Power" kept you out of Alcoholics Anonymous or other 12 Step recovery programs?

The podcast to help you battle the everyday struggle with addiction, cravings, dependency and bad habits but also give you some helpful tips and good habits that helped me. This podcast will give my struggles and triumphs with addiction some life and hopefully assist you in your own battle regarding addiction. The reason for the name and artwork of this Podcast is based on the Yin Yang sign from Taoism, depicted by two wolves, a good wolf and an evil wolf. A concept of addiction is that these wolves live inside you and you have to choose which one to feed... Addiction effects everyone in a different way, a different reaction to different substances, some people are able to have one drink and never be concerned others have one and there whole life turns upside down. A small note about me, my biggest dependencies were cigarettes and alcohol and I am more that 5 year free of both of them. This podcast will house my point of view on addiction, dependency, cravings, Habits (Good and Bad) and give a platform for people to reach out and let their stories be heard, through me or as a guest on the show. I will discuss things that helped me in the battle and obstacles that hindered me throughout the continuous war with addiction. The Podcast will have a feel good serious vibe where some hard topics will be discussed in relieving way to deal with these hard topics. I want to let you know you are not alone in this struggle and together we can start saying no to things that don’t fulfil us and yes to things that do.
