What If Your Drinking Made You the Running Joke At Work? Rachel's Story
A Sober Story Podcast
03/29/22 • 45 min
Have your kids seen you drunk? Rachel's kids have. When Rachel's six-year-old announced that she had been the one to bandage mommy's knee because mommy fell when she was drunk, Rachel realized a change needed to happen. Rachel has replaced her drinking days with habits and AF substitutes that she calls "multipliers". Instead of the booze subtracting from her life, she now practices daily meditation, follows a spiritual and physical cleansing ritual of drinking hot water and lemon each morning, and experiments with new and fun alcohol-free drinks. All of these practices multiply the joy and love she has for life and helps Rachel to remain the sober, best version of herself. Listen to Rachel's moving and equally hilarious story now.

What if Gray Area Drinking Was Keeping You from Being a Good Grandparent? Suzanne's Story
A Sober Story Podcast
03/22/22 • 27 min
No one in Suzanne's life told her she should stop drinking or that she had a problem with alcohol. But why could she not stop herself from drinking two glasses of wine each night (and not to mention more on the weekends)? Suzanne decided she should probably go to AA, because, at the time, where else did you go if you thought you had a problem with alcohol? Once there, though, she realized it was not a good fit. So, was she an alcoholic, or was she not? She didn't fit into the AA scene, but she wasn't comfortable with her drinking habits. It wasn't until Suzanne started reading Quit Lit and listening to sober podcasts that she realized... Omg, I'm a GRAY AREA DRINKER! There WAS a name for drinkers like her! Through education and working diligently to "rewire" her thinking, Suzanne has been sober for close to a year and a half. Way to GO, Suzanne! I promise you will feel uplifted and connected to Suzanne's sobriety journey. Listen now!

A Sober Story Podcast
03/15/22 • 26 min
Chuck describes himself as the poster boy of high functioning alcoholism. He used drugs and alcohol to get himself through his day to day routine. Chuck now fills a leadership role within a local AA meeting where he mentors individuals mandated to attend meetings. Chuck enjoys a glass of wine here and there with his wife. He has been clean from drugs for 12 years. Way to go, Chuck! Listen to his story now!

What If You Used Alcohol to Deal with Divorce? Megan's Story
A Sober Story Podcast
04/14/22 • 26 min
Megan had been using wine to cope with the stresses of life as a mom of two young kids but when her marriage began to unravel leading to divorce, her drinking got out of hand. One holiday weekend at home, without her kids and no family nearby, Megan once again drank a bottle of wine and passed out. When she awoke at 3 am with night sweats, raging anxiety, shame, and self-loathing, she literally called out for a sign, a message, help, support of any kind to help get her out of this toxic cycle she had created. She got up, opened her email, and discovered she had won a scholarship to participate in an online support group program and she had until the following day to register. With nothing else to lose, Megan jumped on board and has never looked back. After finishing the100 day program, Megan decided to create her OWN sober support group meetings. Megan is now a certified health coach, runs three women's sobriety circles each week, and manages a wildly successful sober Instagram account (@sobahsistahs) Listen to her story now!

What If Alcohol Destroyed Your Marriage But You Still Couldn't Stop? Christina's Story
A Sober Story Podcast
04/21/22 • 37 min
Christina describes herself as a free spirit. However, moving every two years with her military family and then starting a years-long relationship at the age of 16 never allowed Christina to discover her true identity. After drinking heavily in college, and then moving into a corporate job where the booze flowed freely, Christina's drinking ramped up. After the birth of her daughter, Christina suffered through undiagnosed postpartum depression. By the time her daughter was 3 years old, Christina was rushing to get her child to bed so she could drink all night. In order to save her marriage, she made the decision to stop drinking. She also went to therapy and started to discuss her childhood sexual abuse and how that experience shaped her life. Christina's marriage eventually came to an end, but her sobriety is as strong as ever. Christina is the creator of @sisters_n_sobriety, an Instagram account dedicated to supporting other Black moms to recover from alcoholism and addiction out loud WITHOUT shame. You can reach Christina on Instagram today! Listen to her story now.

What If Anxiety & Motherhood Led You to Drink? Emily's Story
A Sober Story Podcast
04/06/22 • 21 min
Emily splits her drinking history into two different realms: college party drinking, and anxious stressed-out working mom drinking. These two chapters of Emily's drinking differ greatly, however, they do have one thing in common: both chapters of Emily's drinking added zero value to her life. In fact, really shitty things happened when she drank. After another slip up of accidentally drinking to excess and making an ass out of herself, Emily woke up to her young daughter crying. Her little girl was worried, confused, and shaken by the belligerent woman she had seen the night before that she couldn't believe was her mom. Looking at the pain in her daughter's eyes, Emily knew she needed to make a change. Listen now to Emily's story and how she stopped drinking and became the best mom and person she could be.
