A podcast about the period BEFORE you stop getting your period. The concept of a woman "circling the drain" conjures up negative imagery for some, but the origin of this as the name of the podcast has a story. A friend, in her 30's at the time, was listing her ailments to a male physician who clearly had a terrible bedside manner, because he responded to her complaints by shrugging his shoulders in a dismissive fashion and saying something like, "I don't know what to tell you. From now on, you're basically just circling the drain!" Co-hosts Ellie and Julia have been laughing at the audacity of this tone-deaf interaction ever since, and when they decided to start this podcast about the plight of the aging woman, they chose to reclaim and repurpose the phrase in the spirit of humor. Every human on the planet is circling the drain from the moment we are born. The question is, how slowly and gracefully can we spiral? And can we minimize the discomfort while we whirl? Perimenopausal co-hosts Ellie and Julia take a deep dive into the sometimes embarrassing, often hilarious, and always bewildering issues of the hormonal changes that take place in midlife. Through honest accounts, thoughtful interviews, and group panel discussions, their mission is to make you chuckle, make you nod your head in recognition, and hopefully make some scientific progress.

Everyone has a story to tell, and in this podcast I sit down with a group of guests to learn about their childhoods, their marriages and children, the highs and low of their lives, and the stories that left them laughing or crying. And in so doing, show us a little bit of what it means to be human. Each season centers on a group of guests tied together with a common thread.
Season 1 focuses on 5 Quakers or ex-Quakers from the Las Cruces Friends Meeting, and I also ask them why they became Quakers, and if they left Quakerism, why.
In Season 2 I interview immigrants from around the world who all came to the New World to find a better life. I ask why they left, what immigration and integration was like for them, and what it means to be an immigrant.

How can we age with zest, courage and vibrance? How can we tackle the challenges of aging--including ageism-- with awareness and skill? Nicole Christina, a psychotherapist of more than 30 years, interviews culture changers from all over the world and of every persuasion–including Python hunters in the Everglades and Hospice workers at San Quentin Penitentiary. Her topics have a humanitarian theme and are typically off of the mainstream. An expert interviewer and author of "Not Just Chatting: How to Become a Master Podcast Interviewer" Nicole’s conversations are deep and heartfelt. In these conversations, the challenges of aging are not sugar coated. Bodies age. We're not as fast or agile as we once were. 60, it turns out, is not the new 40. Acceptance is the key, although it's easier said than done. Our goal, then, is to navigate the losses of aging as well as to highlight the gifts. Many people report being happier when they reach 50 and are delighted by the freedoms they experience. They may have more time to themselves, and the new ability to discover what makes them truly happy. Many women are traveling solo and finding joy in their new friendships. It's a time to be curious and adventurous while our body still is in good working condition. It's not always easy, though. Trying new things can be scary. Nicole's guests are not super heroes. They are people who have found their own ways of meeting the challenges of aging yet still delighting in the life they have left. The Show brings optimism to the experience of aging in spite of the realities of expectable losses.

I am a board certified facial plastic surgeon with a passion for BEAUTY in all forms, inside & out. I love human faces & my dogs tail. I was born & raised in Mississippi, spent my entire childhood trying to get to New York or LA & most of my adult life wishing I was HOME. I have a passion for truth- beauty parlor- bathroom type truth. I think we are at our BEST inspiring and sharing with other women.I believe real beauty is being brave, bold & having the courage to follow your heart. I value honesty most of all & cherish the trust so many give to me. I see every detail on every face, the shadows & the light & this is my gift. I can operate, inject or laser to redirect shadows, remove extra skin, or smooth skin texture- but the real MAGIC is seeing the light of HAPPINESS shine from inside when someone looks like they did 5 or 10 years ago. Welcome to Minding Memory. In this podcast we discuss topics related to dementia research. This is an all-hands-on-deck moment for dementia research, and we have topics for both those new to the space as well as old pros. We start with some basics, like: What exactly is dementia? What are the different types of dementia? What is the TICS, if not a swarm of blood-sucking insects? But we also invite researchers on to discuss their interesting work to give you a glimpse at the questions, data, and methods moving the field forward.

Minding Memory is co-hosted by Matthew Davis and Lauren Gerlach. Matt and Lauren are health services researchers and professors at the University of Michigan. Matt’s PhD is in Data Science and Lauren is a geriatric psychiatrist. The Minding Memory podcast is part of the Center to Accelerate Population Research in Alzheimer’s (CAPRA) at the University of Michigan, supported by the National Institute on Aging at the National Institutes of Health. Additional support also comes from the Institute for Healthcare Policy and Innovation. The content of this podcast does not represent the views of the National Institutes of Health or the University of Michigan. Please consider subscribing to this podcast and make sure to check out our website. On our website you’ll also find links to the center’s seminar series and data products created specifically for dementia research.

This podcast is for women who want to lose weight for the very last time.
If you know what you should eat, but you can't get yourself to eat it, this podcast will help. If have dieted, lost weight, only to gain it back, this podcast will help.
This is the podcast for women who want to lose weight permanently by learning the mindset & strategy necessary to eat what they know they should eat, and feel in control around food. What you put in your mouth all starts with your mind, and once you learn how to manage it, living in a body you love the look and feel of is so much easier.
Modern Body Modern Life is about so much more than weight loss. It's about learning to calm the war that goes on in your head when you are constantly thinking about your body and food.
I will be talking about the importance of up leveling your self concept, listening to your body, feeling your emotions instead of turning to food. I will teach you how hunger is not an emergency, and although food is meant to be enjoyed sometimes, it doesn't always have to be a party in your mouth.
Most importantly, the theme of this podcast supports the belief that you can lose weight permanently and be in your best shape at any age.

WHEREING explores ‘where we are’. Like clothing, we are ‘WHEREING’ (wear-ing) our spaces. Hosted by architect/designer/professor Nina Freedman, these are mindful conversations about BELONGING, SPACE AND DESIGN.

.

Where Are You?...is a basic existential question.

Where do you belong?

.

At WHEREING we talk with designers, artists, poets, healers, writers, educators...and regular wonderful everyday people who think about belonging ...perhaps YOU. We talk about our connections or disconnections with spaces or objects, and how we equally impact the spaces that impact us.

.

Our talks will be based on four categories. We call them the 'neighborhoods'. They are Transiency and Stasis, Places I Cannot Change, Aesthetic Aging and Belonging/s.

.

The first season of WHEREING will have 12 episodes, with interviews featured twice a month.

.
