Welcome to "The Touched Out Podcast," where your host, Carter, explores the journey of parenthood from expecting parent to veteran parent. Each episode features a new guest who shares their experiences, struggles, and victories as they navigate the ups and downs of parenting.
The podcast is an open and judgement-free space where I have honest conversations about the challenges of being a parent. I believe that parenthood is a journey that never truly ends, and that mental health is a vital aspect of that journey. Guests share their insights and offer advice to help other parents cope with the stresses and emotions that come with raising a child.
The phrase "Touched Out" reflects the feeling of overwhelm that many parents experience when their children constantly demand their attention. I understand that parenting can be exhausting and emotionally draining, and I want to provide a safe space where guests and listeners can share their experiences without fear of judgement.
My Guests come from all walks of life and share a variety of perspectives on parenthood. Some talk about their experiences with postpartum depression, while others discuss the challenges of managing work and family life. Each episode is a unique and personal story, and I hope that the listeners can find something to relate to in each conversation.
This podcast is a safe space where parents can come together and share their experiences. I believe that by talking openly about our struggles and emotions, we can help to break down the stigma surrounding mental health and create a more supportive and understanding community.
So if you're an expecting or veteran parent, or just someone interested in learning more about the mental health aspects of parenting, tune in to "The Touched Out Podcast" for open and honest conversations about the challenges and joys of parenthood.

Think of this podcast as your very own special needs mom support group--except it's helpful and fun! You will leave with the hope that you can have a super happy life even when your life includes parenting a medically complex child or a child with something like autism and ADHD.
You likely didn't ask to be the parent of a disabled child or to live portions of your life in the hospital NICU or PICU. Your story is unique; it’s hard to find a place where you belong or where you don't feel so isolated and alone. Your child might have a rare disease, be undiagnosed or experience something that almost everybody has heard of like Downs syndrome yet the weird thing is that whether your child has an intellectual disability or physical disability, the experience as a mother is so similar. So regardless of your child’s disability, we can all find a home in this community.
You find yourself managing everybody else's needs; your child, their siblings, and all the guilt that you have about that. All this has you feeling overwhelmed, anxious, and dizzy---not knowing who to turn to or what to do next for help. This podcast is your lifeline, you’ll find encouragement and inspiration as we connect to other moms’ journeys. We’ll get practical and look at what it takes to stop feeling so stuck in your life.
You know this podcast is for you if you find yourself googling:

About the podcast...
Hi! We’re Jenn, Ellen, and Annette — three friends who grew up together, moved across the globe, and discovered our ADHD as adults. The road to diagnosis was long, and we mostly coped through creativity. Now, we’re out to help others and keep improving ourselves by sharing how ADHD impacted our lives. We’ll delve into science and discuss personal hypotheses, tell hilariously awkward stories, and answer questions from listeners. We hope you’ll find a sense of community and support as we fall up the stairs of life, laughing all the way.
About the word...
Basiltov began as an inside joke born from a night of adult beverages. Jenn made a joke about Ellen’s basil plant, then randomly shouted BASILTOV when Annette won a drinking game. We’ve shouted it at each other ever since, either as a greeting or as congratulations, and now we’re using it as a podcast title, which is spectacularly ADHD if you ask us. Check out basiltov.com for more about us and our favorite topic – ADHD.
