The Challenges of Being an Entrepreneur During COVID-19
A Better Way To Heal
08/19/20 • 23 min
There are so many challenges during this time of a pandemic, social unrest and the upcoming election.
In this episode, I get real with you on the challenges that I have personally faced during these tough times being an entrepreneur.
Being a solopreneur brings about the challenge of staying motivated and upbeat. Surrounding yourself with your tribe is so valuable and important anytime but especially right now.
My TOP challenges have been...
- Overcoming the shame. At the beginning of all of this there were people who felt the need to shame anyone who was trying to grow their biz. The challenge to know that your message and vision is important and needed.
- Pivoting my business 100 percent online by creating new programs for fitness, nutrition and mindset.
- Breaking through the noise of all the chaos going on in the world today.
- Staying FOCUSED on my goals and not allowing myself to get sucked into the social media drama.
- Staying true to myself and my purpose through all of the madness happening in the world.

Self-Care Isn't Selfish
A Better Way To Heal

Being the very best version of you means that you have to take care of YOU.
I think turning 40 this year, all of the COVID craziness and then losing my best friend Luke 🐶 just has me wanting to spread this message with you because it has never been more obvious to me that my mental health is KEY.
It's been a ROUGH year, and we have to do the work to take care of our mental health.
Especially right now as everything appears to be ramping back up again.
There are so many unknowns and so much fear from every corner - but the light at the end of the tunnel?!
It starts with YOU. It starts with me.
What we choose to pour into.
What we choose to digest.
What actions we take.
What words we speak.
And what we do FOR ourselves directly impacts those around us!!
Listen to the episode out today to gain a little encouragement, a little empowerment and little food for thought on this Wednesday.

Mental Wellness + Why It Matters.
A Better Way To Heal
07/08/20 • 17 min
Physical wellness isn't everything. 🙅🏼🙅🏼
In fact. I would argue that if you don't have your mental wellness as your #1 priority, your physical wellness will decline because of it.
And there's more coming. Politics, fires, and YOU NAME IT. There's a lot of stuff going on.😰
But we need to focus on the positives of this situation!!
This episode is such a timely message right now because I heard a few statistics the other day that FLOORED ME.
There was a study recently conducted by the Kaiser Family Foundation that found the following:
✖️45% of Americans are being impacted by mental wellness issues.
✖️39% increase in anti-anxiety medications.
✖️19% increase in anti-depressants
I believe there is another phase of the pandemic - and that is the effect this pandemic will have on our long-term mental health.
This episode tackles a SOLUTION to the problem!!

013: The Truth About Sleep
A Better Way To Heal
06/24/20 • 15 min
Here's the truth about sleep.
Today I'm talking about the how your gut health affects your sleep health.
Did you know there is a direct link between stress and sleep?
Stress increases cortisol and lowers serotonin and in turn, that means a lack of melatonin.
Lack of sleep prevents you from being able to lose weight, increases stress and anxiety, and causes that imbalance in hormones that makes everything go out of whack.
Sleep is your right! It's time to reclaim it.

011: Time to Take Ownership of YOU!
A Better Way To Heal
06/09/20 • 16 min
How are we treating others?
It all comes back to our health and wellness.
If we are protecting, if we are building our health and wellness at this time, we can better handle what is happening in the world.
It starts with US. With our mental state. How we process emotions. Our physical, mental and spiritual wellness are things we focus on within ourselves FIRST - we can better serve others.
Do you agree?

I had the pleasure of speaking with Marissa Brooke Donnell on my podcast and I'm sharing her story, the story of her family, her puppies and background on life. And there's so much powerful information here!
Here's a little sneak peek from Marissa herself:
"I know you all know Talon’s vaccine injury/autism story. But many of you who I’ve befriended over the last year may not know the obstacles Talon overcame before during and after all of that.
At my 20 week ultrasound, we found out Talon would be born with Fibular Hemimelia and Congenital Femoral Deficiency. His right leg had a fibula the size of a pin, his tibia and femur were shorter than the left, he had no ACL in his knee and no ankle bone. Many kids with these conditions are born with less than 5 toes and hip issues too but Talon thankfully escaped both of those.
From 12 months old to 4 years old, he had a total of 10 surgeries. 3 of which were planned/correctional surgeries. The other 7 were due to bone infections that stemmed from the surgeries. We’ve spent many many nights/weeks in hospital rooms. We’ve had to watch him roll into the OR more times than I’d like. But despite it all, he goes through life smiling and does not let his leg slow him down.
Originally, he was predicted to have a 12-14 cm length discrepancy at full maturity which would mean 2-3 leg lengthening surgeries. But by the grace of God, we’re only looking at a 3-5 cm discrepancy and 1 lengthening surgery OR a shortening of the other leg. We’re not sure why it went down so much (that’s not usually the case), but because of his autism he really doesn’t do well in the hospital so we are eternally grateful.
I’ve recently learned that kids with MTHFR should not have laughing gas before surgery and he’s had it at least 4-5 times. 2 times before his autism diagnosis, so could also be a contributing factor (as well as the anesthesia, antibiotics, crap food, etc).
Our 4.5 years with him so far have been an absolute roller coaster, but he has taught us patience, he has taught us how to stay positive in shitty situations and above all, his conditions have taught us to advocate for ourselves and our kids when we have a gut feeling that a doctor is wrong."
