Latest episode 4 days ago

UnF*ck Your Brain: Feminist Self-Help for Everyone breaks down the centuries of sexist socialization that causes us to struggle with self-doubt, burnout, and anxiety. Hosted by Master Feminist Coach Kara Loewentheil, J.D., founder of The School of New Feminist Thought and author of Take Back Your Brain (Penguin 2024), each episode teaches you how to turn down the noise of societal expectations, turn up the volume on what YOU really want in life, and change your thinking to make sure you go get it. This podcast is an essential resource for anyone eager to embrace a life free from limiting beliefs and societal constraints. If you ever find yourself asking questions like... *Why am I so anxious about stuff that isn’t a big deal? *How can I stop overthinking everything? *Am I selfish for wanting my life to look different? *Will I ever feel comfortable in my body? *Am I a bad parent? *How can I ask for more money at work? *Can I stop people-pleasing? *How can my partner and I communicate better? ... then you won’t want to miss an episode. The science of the good life, huh? Sorry this is not about booze, sex and rock n'roll (or whatever is en vogue right now). In fact we talk about a lot of things that tree huggers would love: appreciation of beauty, gratitude, positive emotions, relationships and well, love. However we, that is positive psychologists and positive psychology practitioners buried ourselves in books, set out to experiment and then write it all up in a writing style that is about as exciting to read as watching an avocado turn brown. And that's the problem: if you are not an academic you probably want a little bit more excitement, than pages and pages of densely written journals can provide. Even if you are an academic, who has time to read all the interesting stuff out there anyways? So in an effort to save your eyes taking on a comically rectangular shape the positive psychology podcast brings the science of the good life to your earbuds. It's not all treehugger style though; sometimes we might get quite serious, for example when exploring things like post-traumatic growth or positive parenting. Subscribe if you want to benefit from the scientific insights into happiness and meaning while you are on the go. Let me know where you are while you are listening to this. If you like it review it, because that's the only way other people can find it too.

But just because you're a mom with a lot of competing priorities, doesn't mean you have to put your dreams of running and growing a successful business on hold. You can absolutely be a present, engaged, and fulfilled mom... while also being a bad ass, inspired, and successful business owner. In fact, when your business is set up in a way that is simple, you can make a lot of money, have more flexibility with how you spend your time, and feel fulfilled outside of your role as a mom. It's time to prioritize yourself so you can fill your own cup, feel healthy and strong, and show up confidently in all areas of your life. On the podcast we'll talk about motherhood, business, and everything in between... because you're not just a mom OR a business owner. You're both. So you can expect episodes from postpartum recovery and being a toddler mom to episodes about making more sales and simplifying your content strategy. It's not about being perfect or achieving some type of superficial success. This is about YOU feeling satisfied at the end of each day when you lay your head on your pillow... knowing that you loved your kids, prioritized yourself, and made an impact on the lives of your community and clients. Let's do this!
