The Art of Crime is a history podcast about the unlikely collisions between true crime and the arts. We take painstaking research and craft it into compelling stories that teach you about society and culture.
Each new season covers a different theme. Season 3 is titled "Queen of Crime: Madame Tussaud and the Chamber of Horrors." Just in time for Women's History Month, this season chronicles the long and distinguished career of Madame Tussaud, one of the most celebrated show-women of her day, kicking off in pre-revolutionary France and wrapping up in Victorian London. At the same time, "Queen of Crime" tracks the evolution of the Chamber of Horrors, a special showroom in Tussaud's wax museum that exhibited macabre curiosities, including effigies of notorious murderers.
Season 2 is titled "Assassins." It profiles artists who have committed, attempted, or at least been implicated in an assassination. Also check out Season 1, "The Unusual Suspects: Artists Accused of Being Jack the Ripper."

Reverie means to daydream but sometimes when we zone out, our anxiety and intrusive thoughts can creep in. We might start to think about our anxieties and worst fears. Sometimes we get caught up in obscure thoughts about disturbing events occurring, or that have occurred, in the world. As humans, we can naturally become curious about these horrible happenings in life.
Paige narrates stories of crimes, sits down and talks with victims' loved ones, chats with other podcasters, survivors, and occasionally tells haunting, creepy stories. She is passionate about all aspects of these true stories. Shedding light on the dark, terrifying things that have happened, and still happen in the world, is very important to her.
Paige hopes that through these stories she can bring awareness to injustices, important issues, and evil deeds that have taken place all around the world.

Sword and Scale is a true crime podcast covering the dark underworld of crime and the criminal justice system’s response to it. The first episode launched January 1st, 2014 and feature stories of murder, abduction, rape, and even more bizarre forms of crime. It’s the purest form of true-crime where the raw uncensored audio tells the story. Everything from 911 calls to court testimony, interviews with victims and sometimes with perpetrators give listeners a 360 degree look at the seedy underbelly of human nature and so-called civilized society. Told from an everyman's point of view, Sword and Scale goes beyond the news clips and the sensationalist headlines to hold up a mirror to the audience and ask, "Is it us versus them? Or are we just like 'them' too?" Sword and scale proves that the worst monsters are real.

Welcome to the True Crime BnB! I'm Beth, your host, and I started this podcast with my daughter Bailey, creating a format where one of us would tell a rough story about a case, and the other would end every episode with an inspiring story focused on strength and survival. We wanted to remember victims, and celebrate survivors.

Now that I'm solo, some episodes are collaborations with podcaster friends who bring a case to share, and we continue the 'downer' and 'upper' format that Bailey and I created. Sometimes I release what I call Just One B episodes, where it's just me, telling true crime case stories that you've never heard before. I focus on cases that didn't get much publicity, because those people still deserve to be remembered.

I will never glamourize the criminals. This place is for the victims and the survivors. This is the True Crime BnB.

The fascination with real-life stories of mystery, justice, and tragedy has driven this trend, leading to the creation of numerous crime podcasts that cater to this insatiable hunger for the unknown.

Podcasts with the best true crime stories

True Crime Stories: "Crime Junkie"

One podcast that stands out in the sea of true crime content is "Crime Junkie". This weekly true crime podcast has become a favorite among enthusiasts of the genre. Hosts Ashley Flowers and Brit Prawat guide listeners through riveting cases, recounting tales of suspense and terror. The podcast delves into chilling stories like the infamous "Black Dahlia Murder", other unsolved murder mysteries, and even crimes that hit close to home. True crime podcasts are not limited to just solved cases. Some podcasts focus on the unknown, like the "Unsolved Mysteries" podcast series. This eight-part series dives into cases of unsolved murders, disappearances, and eerie occurrences, leaving listeners with more questions than answers. The podcast takes a meticulous approach to investigative journalism, bringing a fresh perspective to cases that have baffled law enforcement and families for years.

Revealing the Unknown: "In the Dark"

Another gripping podcast show that takes listeners on an enthralling journey through the world of crime is "In the Dark". Hosted by Madeleine Baran, this podcast scrutinizes the justice system's handling of various cases, shedding light on issues like wrongful convictions and the flaws within police investigations. Controversial True Crime Podcasts

These captivating audio narratives delve deep into real-life mysteries, unraveling intricate webs of suspense and intrigue. With each episode, listeners are drawn into a world where reality becomes stranger than fiction, and the human psyche is laid bare. In this article, we'll venture into the gripping realm of controversial true crime podcasts, exploring their allure, impact, and why they've become a cultural phenomenon.

There's something undeniably magnetic about controversial true crime podcasts. They beckon listeners with promises of uncovering the darkest corners of humanity, providing an unfiltered look into criminal minds and the justice system. These podcasts seize our curiosity, tapping into our inherent fascination with the unknown and our primal need for answers. As the stories unfold, they offer a unique blend of suspense and empathy, making us question the depths of human behavior.

The best Controversial True Crime Podcasts

Sword and Scale true crime podcast

One of the best controversial true crime podcasts is "Sword and Scale". It's for those who are seeking a podcast that fearlessly explores the depths of criminal behavior. This podcast is known for its unapologetic approach, diving headfirst into some of the most unsettling and disturbing aspects of true crime. By offering an unfiltered perspective on these cases, "Sword and Scale" presents listeners with an unvarnished look at the often grim realities of the human psyche.

However, it's important to note that the intense content of "Sword and Scale" has sparked discussions about ethical considerations within the true crime genre. Some listeners and critics have raised concerns about the show's handling of sensitive topics and its potential to sensationalize tragedy. This controversy highlights the fine line that true crime podcasts often tread between providing an authentic glimpse into criminal behavior and avoiding the exploitation of victims and their stories.

If you're someone who values a candid exploration of the darkest aspects of human nature and is prepared for the emotional impact that such content can have, "Sword and Scale" might be a podcast worth exploring. Just be aware that its content is not for the faint of heart, and it's important to approach it with sensitivity and a critical perspective.

True Crime Garage podcast

"True Crime Garage" is for those looking for a unique blend of true crime storytelling and a touch of camaraderie. Hosted by two friends, this podcast stands out by combining discussions of gripping criminal cases with the laid-back ambiance of craft beer tasting. This dynamic creates an engaging and relatable atmosphere that draws listeners in.

The hosts of "True Crime Garage" approach each case with a thoughtful and comprehensive perspective. They delve into the details of cases from various angles, exploring evidence, theories, and potential motives. By presenting different viewpoints, the podcast encourages listeners to engage in critical thinking and draw their own conclusions about the mysteries at hand.

The incorporation of craft beer into the podcast adds an element of informality and conversational flow. It feels as though you're listening to friends dissect intriguing cases while enjoying a casual get-together. This unique format creates a sense of connection between the hosts and the audience, making it an excellent choice for those who appreciate a blend of thought-provoking content and a relaxed atmosphere.

However, it's important to remember that even though "True Crime Garage" maintains a conversational tone, the cases discussed can still cover serious and sometimes disturbing subject matter. If you're interested in exploring the world of true crime while also enjoying the camaraderie of two friends discussing these cases over a craft beer, "True Crime Garage" could be a podcast that aligns with your preferences.
