Crime and Crime Again - 42. The Disappearance of Leah Peebles
play

10/14/22 • 18 min

Leah Peebles was 23-years-old and had just moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico when she disappeared in May 2006. Leah had spent much of her adult life struggling with addiction; moving from Fort Worth, Texas all the way to Albuquerque was supposed to have been a fresh start for her. Leah's father, John Peebles, launched his own investigation after his daughter's disappearance, canvassing the city and questioning witnesses about his daughter's whereabouts. What he discovered about Leah's life in Albuquerque was that it had not been a fresh start, but rather a spiral into the dark underbelly of the city's drug trafficking and sex work scenes. In 2009, the discovery of the West Mesa Murders prompted investigators to attempt to match one of the eleven sets of remains to Leah Peebles... but none were a match. It has now been more than sixteen years since Leah disappeared.

Jermain Charlo was a 23-year-old Indigenous mother of two boys who disappeared from Missoula, Montana in June 2018. There is little information known to the public about the circumstances surrounding her disappearance. What we do know is that the last person to see Jermain on the night she disappeared was her ex-boyfriend and the father of her two sons. He had a history of abusing Jermain and was previously convicted for domestic violence against her.
Jermain was an enrolled member of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes of Flathead Nation. Her disappearance has become well-known within the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women movement.
The Coalition to Stop Violence Against Native Women | An organization dedicated to spreading awareness about violence against Indigenous women and advocating for solutions to solve the systemic and inter-generational issues that perpetuate cycles of violence against Indigenous women.

Crime and Crime Again - 32. MMIW: Olivia Lone Bear

32. MMIW: Olivia Lone Bear

Crime and Crime Again

play

05/12/22 • 14 min

Olivia Lone Bear was a 32 year old mother of five, and a member of the Three Affiliated Tribes - the Mandan, Hidatsa, and Arikara Nation. In October 2017, Olivia disappeared from the Fort Berthold Reservation where she lived, leaving behind personal belongings such as her wallet and cellphone. The truck that Olivia had been borrowing from a friend that day also vanished.
The search for Olivia lasted nearly ten months. With little to no aid or resources from tribal, state, or federal authorities, Olivia's family was essentially left to search for her on their own.
Olivia Lone Bear's death is highly suspicious. There is a reward in place for information leading to those responsible for her disappearance and death. Those with any information are asked to call 1-800-225-5324.
Olivia Lone Bear is one of far too many Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women across the United States and Canada.

Crime and Crime Again - RE-RELEASE: Kaysera Stops Pretty Places
play

08/11/21 • 17 min

Kaysera Stops Pretty Places was 18 years old and a member of the Crow Nation. She disappeared in Hardin, Montana in August of 2019. Five days later, she was found deceased under suspicious circumstances. Her death was classified as “suspicious,” however, there has been no investigation into what really happened to her, or who could have done this. Investigating authorities have perpetrated numerous ethical violations and continuously enabled one another in doing so.
Kaysera is one of far too many Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls across the United States and Canada.
This is an updated and re-released version of my original episode on this case.
During the month of August 2021, Kaysera's family is launching their second annual month of action, and they need our help to demand justice for Kaysera. Please follow the Justice For Kaysera Facebook page for updates about how you can help, linked below.

Kelley Brannon disappeared from the Sunshine Inn motel in Live Oak, Florida on July 15th, 2020. She was a writer, artist, musician, filmmaker, and activist who stood at the forefront of any opportunity to speak out and stand up for what was right and just. The last person to see Kelley was her boyfriend, Eddie Emerson; he is the only one with any insight into what happened that night. Kelley's last communication with anyone was an eerie voicemail to her boyfriend that ended with her stating that she was getting into a car. No one has seen or heard from Kelley Brannon since.

Crime and Crime Again

play

08/24/22 • 31 min

Daniel Robinson was working in the field as a hydrogeologist in the desert of Buckeye, Arizona, when he disappeared on the morning of June 23rd, 2021. In the days prior to his disappearance, Daniel exhibited a string of odd behaviors that his family and friends were confused and alarmed by.
With very little effort on the part of the Buckeye Police Department, Daniel's father, David Robinson, immediately made the 2,000 mile trip from his home in South Carolina, to Arizona to lead the charge in the search for his son. Since June 2021, David Robinson has been the driving force behind the investigation into his son's disappearance.
Daniel is still missing, and his family deserves answers.
If you have any information regarding Daniel's disappearance, please contact the anonymous tip line set up by the Robinson family at (844) 602-0660 or send an email to [email protected]
Visit pleasehelpfinddaniel.com for more information and tips on how you can aid in the search for Daniel Robinson.
Donate to or share the GoFundMe the Robinson family has set up to aid in the search for Daniel.
