Infamous Amityville: Part Two (The Lutz Family Haunting?)
That's Not Good: A True Crime Podcast
10/01/22 • 59 min
We are BACK and full throttle with this series.
The infamous Amityville house is among the elite when it comes to reputation. Pop-culture has solidified it as the epitome of what a haunted house should be. The Amityville Horror phenomenon has spawned countless amounts of cinema, books, articles, and, yes even podcasts, but what makes this thing tick?
Is it the "based on true events" ceremoniously typed on the cover?
There is no question the house that was once 112 Ocean Ave. bore witness to ghastly events the night the Defeo family was slaughtered. In Part One we delved into the initial crime of which Ronald Defeo Jr. stood convicted of and his case.
This week, we will dismantle the haunting after the Lutz family moves into the home and evacuates just 28 days later. But, is the house truly haunted or were we duped? Did the Lutz's pull off the most well executed hoaxes of all time? How much of what you believe to be true about Amityville has been influenced by pop-culture?
Stick around and decide for yourself.

Real Life Jigsaw: The Atrocious McKamey Manor
That's Not Good: A True Crime Podcast
10/08/22 • 72 min
Warning: This episode contains audio that some may find disturbing, listener discretion advised.
This week Hanna kicked off spook season with a word of caution for all of us who are seeking out attractions during the Halloween month. Always vet your haunt.
The controversy that surrounds McKamey Manor cannot be understated. This place is so extreme that one employee says “death is a possibility,” and the messed up part is McKamey Manor’s founder has a 40-page waiver to cover his hide in the event it goes south, so authorities cannot touch him.
This is not a haunted house folks. It is torture. Participants (we are going to go ahead and call them victims) may not fully grasp what is going to happen to them within the confines of this house.
The tricky part is that it has fallen into some legal loophole, claiming to be something that it clearly is not. Even within the extreme haunt community Russ McKamey is not accepted due to his sick Jigsaw like game.
Below you will find a link to one of many petitions to shut down McKamey Manor.

All audio contained in this episode is used under the fair-use law and remains the intellectual property of its respective owner. They can all be found with a simple YouTube search, however, we are not going to link them as they are very disturbing and it is our thought to not give further recognition to Russ.

Melting Pot: The Urban Legendary Cecil Hotel
That's Not Good: A True Crime Podcast
10/15/22 • 64 min
This episode is not at all what we intended to cover, but the storied past that is The Cecil Hotel sucked us into a vortex that was inescapable, and so we bring you a quite convoluted ride along through the catacombs of everything from urban legends loosely bond to this hotel, to the agonizing death toll it has racked up.
This is just a very brief look at the hotel as a whole and all the stories it has produced. We touch on the history of Skid Row and the epidemic of the unhomed in Los Angeles, the Cecil in its prime and its fall from grace in present day, alleged hauntings, serial killers, and of course, the arm chair detective theories.
It would not be a complete story without including a lose thread tying speculatively to what we originally intended to cover, urban legends. Either unknowingly creating some or conspiring commonalities to old tales, The Cecil hotel is without a doubt a melting pot for all of these thoughts.

We Hear Dead People: An Exclusive Look Inside A Paranormal Investigation
That's Not Good: A True Crime Podcast
08/06/22 • 70 min
This episode is going to be slightly different than our usual format and real weird.
Most of you out there in listening land know that we love a good spook story and dabble in paranormal investigations from time to time. But, have you ever heard of the Estes Method? Yeah, we hadn’t either until recently. We talked a lot about it in last week’s episode, how it is used, what it is etc. But, we had never tried it ourselves. Until we did and what we found out was truly life altering, at least for and investigator.
We went into this particular investigation just to prove or disprove the Estes Method. What we heard over the course of the investigation made this episode come to be and we HAD to share it with you.
If the paranormal stories are not your cup of tea, we get it, we will get back to true crime next week. If it is your thing, this episode is tailor made for you.
*Note: We play actual recordings taken during the course of this investigation. If you are sensitive to white noise, please be aware this does contain that. The recordings have not been altered in anyway except to cut out periods of inactivity (where nothing is happening or being heard: this happens frequently over the course of an investigation as it takes time for an entity to manipulate the ghost box to form answers and communicate). We have also taken the liberty of using a beep sound over one name that comes up over and over in the investigation as to protect the location. Other than that everything you are hearing in this episode is exactly how it happened. *
Do you have a good spook story you want to share with us?
We are always looking for listener tales.

Don't Drink the Zombie Kool-Aid: The Doomsday Mother aka Lori Vallow Case Part Two
That's Not Good: A True Crime Podcast
08/26/22 • 43 min
And, we are back with Part 2 of this ludicrous case. We do have an update and were going to include it, but it warranted having its own mini-sode, so look for that early next week along with some important announcements:)
Doomsday Mother aka Lori Vallow, once a devoted mother and Mormon jumps the train to crazy town with her lover of many past lifetimes, Chad Daybell and they leave a trail of bodies scattered in thier wake.
This case is so berserk. Lori and Chad systematically wipe out the obstacles standing between them; justifying their actions as a divine mission from God to rid the world of "zombies." Yes, zombies, they had a zombie hit list.
But, was Lori brainwashed by Chad's influence and his seeming cult in the making or did she act on her own carnal desires? You decide.

We are once again taking you back in time, but this case remains unsolved to this day, over one hundred years later!
This case is so bizarre and equally as fascinating. The theories are mind-boggling and yet, the question remains: who did this?
Was it a singular act of violence or was it perhaps the work of one of America's first ever serial killers?
Next week we will get into the haunting and paranormal side of this home. It has been dubbed one of the MOST haunted places in the United States.
