That's Not Good: A True Crime Podcast

Warning: This episode contains audio that some may find disturbing, listener discretion advised.

This week Hanna kicked off spook season with a word of caution for all of us who are seeking out attractions during the Halloween month. Always vet your haunt.

The controversy that surrounds McKamey Manor cannot be understated. This place is so extreme that one employee says “death is a possibility,” and the messed up part is McKamey Manor’s founder has a 40-page waiver to cover his hide in the event it goes south, so authorities cannot touch him.

This is not a haunted house folks. It is torture. Participants (we are going to go ahead and call them victims) may not fully grasp what is going to happen to them within the confines of this house.

The tricky part is that it has fallen into some legal loophole, claiming to be something that it clearly is not. Even within the extreme haunt community Russ McKamey is not accepted due to his sick Jigsaw like game.

Below you will find a link to one of many petitions to shut down McKamey Manor.

Infamous Amityville: Part Two (The Lutz Family Haunting?)

We are BACK and full throttle with this series.
The infamous Amityville house is among the elite when it comes to reputation. Pop-culture has solidified it as the epitome of what a haunted house should be. The Amityville Horror phenomenon has spawned countless amounts of cinema, books, articles, and, yes even podcasts, but what makes this thing tick?
Is it the "based on true events" ceremoniously typed on the cover?
There is no question the house that was once 112 Ocean Ave. bore witness to ghastly events the night the Defeo family was slaughtered. In Part One we delved into the initial crime of which Ronald Defeo Jr. stood convicted of and his case.
This week, we will dismantle the haunting after the Lutz family moves into the home and evacuates just 28 days later. But, is the house truly haunted or were we duped? Did the Lutz's pull off the most well executed hoaxes of all time? How much of what you believe to be true about Amityville has been influenced by pop-culture?
Stick around and decide for yourself.

Melting Pot: The Urban Legendary Cecil Hotel

This episode is not at all what we intended to cover, but the storied past that is The Cecil Hotel sucked us into a vortex that was inescapable, and so we bring you a quite convoluted ride along through the catacombs of everything from urban legends loosely bond to this hotel, to the agonizing death toll it has racked up.

This is just a very brief look at the hotel as a whole and all the stories it has produced. We touch on the history of Skid Row and the epidemic of the unhomed in Los Angeles, the Cecil in its prime and its fall from grace in present day, alleged hauntings, serial killers, and of course, the arm chair detective theories.

It would not be a complete story without including a lose thread tying speculatively to what we originally intended to cover, urban legends. Either unknowingly creating some or conspiring commonalities to old tales, The Cecil hotel is without a doubt a melting pot for all of these thoughts.
