✨BRB, currently on a nourishing hiatus ✨ What started out as a personal audio journal on my journey to heal myself, the show evolved into a collection of revolutionary conversations about what it means to be well for those not in the global majority. Over the last 3 years, I have explored what it means to create a world where healing can take place through mindful self-discovery. I’m so proud of our community of conscious, heart-centered people. While I’m on hiatus, you can still enjoy the archive of soulful and inspiring interviews & solo episodes. To stay connected, hit me up on TikTok @kaylanedza. Love, Kayla

If you’re reading this, you’re here for the final episode of the Wellness Glow Up Podcast (yep, you read that right) as I spill some tea about what’s going on behind the scenes. I'm sharing more about my decision to end the show, how I got here, what's next, and the lessons I've learned from 4 years of creating this beautiful, heart-opening show.

Since the spring of this year, I've worked hard to pivot and shift the podcast strategy, trying different revenue and business models, hoping to find something that better fits my current goals and topics I want to talk about. Over the past few months, I finally realized that moving on from this show and shifting my focus to more storytelling feels true. So as I say goodbye to this show, I leave proud of the space we’ve created and encourage you to have more uncomfortable conversations as we did on this show.

Discussion Around:

  • Life updates
  • Creating energetic space
  • Why you should always do the thing
  • Always being curious and asking questions
  • Not being afraid to pivot
  • The importance of uniqueness
  • A project I’ll be launching next year

Wellness Glow Up Podcast - Reminders on Your Healing Journey

Reminders on Your Healing Journey

Wellness Glow Up Podcast

Something we don’t talk enough about is how hard the healing journey can be. We’re fed fluffy images on social media about the awakening that takes place or a cool infographic about what to expect when we’re going through the process, but those things don’t cover the breadth of what can happen when we start the process of healing.

In this solo episode, I’m sharing some reminders for you if you’re on the path in this chapter of your life. My goal for this episode is to give you both a pep talk and a loving reminder that you’re not alone on this journey.

Discussion Around:

  • There’s a reason why you’re choosing to heal at this stage of your life
  • You’re not meant to do it by yourself
  • Taking your time and realizing that you’re on your own path
  • Assessing what support you need and taking action to create that
  • Why your healing is important

As a mental health advocate in the wellness industry for over ten years who not only survived severe postpartum depression and thrives with a mental health condition, Sasha Nicole’s mission is to assist others in living a healed and whole life while honing in on what truly makes you happy. For women who feel stuck and stagnant in life, Sasha Nicole teaches how to feel more confident and courageous.

If you know me, you know that I love talking about mental health. My intention for this episode was to talk about mental health through the lens of motherhood, but also get to the reality of what we’re not talking about related to mental health. While Sasha shares some vulnerable truths about her experience, which was incredibly refreshing and needed in the larger conversation about this topic, I hope you feel empowered to know that you’re not alone!

We also talk about:

  • Her relationship with motherhood
  • Living in your truth versus happiness
  • Taking accountability for your joy
  • When she knew she had to get help for her mental health
  • Her experience with post partem
  • Shifting away from being the strong friend
  • How to ask for help

Wellness Glow Up Podcast - Building + Maintaining Long-Term Wealth with Ornella Yovo
play

12/07/21 • 43 min

As a financial wellness enthusiast and business coach, Ornella Yovo is dedicated to helping women and minorities navigate their finances, understand wealth creation and grow their businesses. Having worked for a large wealth management organization, Ornella has learned the tools to build and maintain long-term wealth, while also being super real about the emotional aspects of money that we don’t usually talk about.

In this episode, Ornella discusses her relationship with money, particularly after growing up with certain messages about saving money, which influenced how she now works with the energetics of money as an adult. A huge takeaway from our conversation is the power we have to create financial freedom for ourselves with tactical tools to overcome the stigma attached to “more money, more problems.”

We also talk about:

  • Setting intentions with money
  • The balance between saving and paying down debt
  • What your emergency fund should be used for
  • The benefits of credit & how to use credit cards to your advantage
  • When you should request a credit limit
  • How to negotiate your salary

As the Vice President of Health Strategy at the American Heart Association and a public health professional, Dr. Angelica Hardee (aka Dr. JB) is focused on addressing the top health priorities of the Greater Cincinnati/NKY region by leading work related to hypertension, e-cigarette/tobacco use, and healthy food access. More specifically, she engages with community organizations and neighborhood coalitions to identify their health & wellness priorities.

As a friend of fifteen years and one of the most dedicated people I know to create equitable wellness for all, I always have fun catching up with her. What I love about this conversation is that we touch on many different facets of public health that we don’t talk about within the larger wellness space and how it impacts our communities. This episode is an invitation to care for your community in a deeper way while understanding the systemic issues we continue to face domestically.

We also talk about:

  • A fun memory from high school
  • How the global pandemic impacted the public health space
  • The interconnectedness of government systems and health
  • How we can make an impact on the health of our communities
  • One of the biggest health issues that we’re facing with the youth
  • A behind-the-scenes look at Wellness public policies

Wellness Glow Up Podcast - How to Create a More Fulfilling Life

How to Create a More Fulfilling Life

When I turned 30, I had a mini freak out and started asking myself a bunch of questions. Why do I still hate my job? Why aren’t my relationships going the way I want? What’s my purpose? And while I give myself an immense amount of grace during this time, I realized I wasn’t asking myself the correct question. I should’ve been asking myself: how do I live a more fulfilling life through the lens of jobs, relationships, etc?

For the past 10 months, I’ve been intentionally focusing on how to create more fulfillment through dissecting what it means to be fulfilled (because none of us learn this when we’re growing up), and where the disconnect was rooted in not feeling fulfilled. This episode is a beautiful combination of the grounding tactical things I’ve done to improve the quality of my life, while also adding in a bit of the woo and fluidity of creating fulfillment for ourselves.

We also talk about:

  • The difference between happiness and fulfillment
  • Creating opportunities to do things that light you up
  • Find multiple outlets for fulfillment
  • An important question to ask yourself throughout the process of finding fulfillment
  • Building systems for inspiration
