Wellness Glow Up Podcast

Something we don’t talk enough about is how hard the healing journey can be. We’re fed fluffy images on social media about the awakening that takes place or a cool infographic about what to expect when we’re going through the process, but those things don’t cover the breadth of what can happen when we start the process of healing.

In this solo episode, I’m sharing some reminders for you if you’re on the path in this chapter of your life. My goal for this episode is to give you both a pep talk and a loving reminder that you’re not alone on this journey.

Discussion Around:

  • There’s a reason why you’re choosing to heal at this stage of your life
  • You’re not meant to do it by yourself
  • Taking your time and realizing that you’re on your own path
  • Assessing what support you need and taking action to create that
  • Why your healing is important

Optimizing Menstruation, Period Woes, + Mindfulness with Saran James-Vaughan

As the founder of a full-service holistic wellness education platform dedicated to Menstrual Health and a decolonized approach to well-being, Saran James-Vaughan is all about supporting your journey of identifying the root cause of chronic illness, helping the body, mind, and soul return to balance by combining the latest evidence-based research on diet & nutrition, ancient alchemy tools, and herbal medicine.

My favorite thing about Saran is how deeply rooted her work is in taking a holistic approach to period health as this becomes an increasingly important conversation not only if we’re thinking about having kids, but for the basic health of our bodies. Additionally, she’s incredibly perceptive in understanding the link between our lineages and the modern-day world, always evolving and asking you to do the same.

We also talk about:

  • Her relationship with resisting taking care of herself
  • Syncing up your mind and body to feel good
  • Being present with how your tension is showing up in your body before your period
  • The power we hold with menstruation
  • How to know if you’re out of balance with your period
  • Why your periods shouldn’t be painful
  • The connection between our ancestral foods and menstrual health

Connecting to Our Ancestry + Becoming Better Elders with June "Jumakae" Kaewsith

June Marisa Kaewsith, also known as "Jumakae," is a professional artist, wellness consultant, and storytelling coach. After spending her twenties as an artist and community organizer inside nonprofit organizations, she began craving an alternative narrative to healing and justice beyond the struggle. Curiosity led her back to Thailand, where she studied with a traditional midwife to learn the ways of her ancestors. That's when she realized that all of our ancestors were entrepreneurial, filling a need in the community through their sacred offerings. This sparked her calling to assist others in remembering their magic.

This conversation was truly a combination of a breath of fresh air and a grounded conversation rooted in truth. What I love about Jumakae is the commitment she has to help you understand your story and how it relates to the stories of your ancestors, while maintaining a balanced, beautiful view of our ability to live a fulfilling life.

We also talk about:

  • Her relationship with her ancestors
  • How we’re all ancestors in the making
  • How mindfulness is a practice to connect to our ancestry
  • Using anger as a tool of expression
  • Looking to nature as our healer and teacher
  • How our stories can stay stagnant in the body
  • Taking care of our elders
