How to Create a More Fulfilling Life

05/03/22 • 38 min
When I turned 30, I had a mini freak out and started asking myself a bunch of questions. Why do I still hate my job? Why aren’t my relationships going the way I want? What’s my purpose? And while I give myself an immense amount of grace during this time, I realized I wasn’t asking myself the correct question. I should’ve been asking myself: how do I live a more fulfilling life through the lens of jobs, relationships, etc?
For the past 10 months, I’ve been intentionally focusing on how to create more fulfillment through dissecting what it means to be fulfilled (because none of us learn this when we’re growing up), and where the disconnect was rooted in not feeling fulfilled. This episode is a beautiful combination of the grounding tactical things I’ve done to improve the quality of my life, while also adding in a bit of the woo and fluidity of creating fulfillment for ourselves.
We also talk about:
- The difference between happiness and fulfillment
- Creating opportunities to do things that light you up
- Find multiple outlets for fulfillment
- An important question to ask yourself throughout the process of finding fulfillment
- Building systems for inspiration

A Conversation About Our Feelings + Mental Health with Gaby Ulloa
As a Cuban-American journalist and podcast host, Gabriela Ulloa is all about covering topics from Latinx culture and mental health to beauty, style, identity, personal development, and mental health. Through her work, she’s dedicated her storytelling to highlighting stigmatized topics, particularly within marginalized communities. Mostly, she works to normalize talking about feelings on the internet.
If you’re looking for a chill, down-to-earth conversation about mental health then this episode is the one for you. What I love about this conversation is that we centered the conversation around this idea of “being broken” as we debunk why that’s actually not true as we share stories about our own lives to dispel that myth. This episode is an invitation to look at all facets of your mental health in a way where you feel like you’re chatting with a couple of friends sipping a cup of tea.
We also talk about:
- Her relationship with mental health
- The stereotypes she’s dealt with in her own mental health journey
- The emphasis on work for immigrant kids and how it impacts our inner child
- The integration of culture and mental health
- How our partners can be mirrors of our deeper work
- Removing the identity of achievement
- The lessons she’s learned from breakups about standing in her power
- Are you lying to yourself?
- Allowing yourself to grieve different identities as you grow
