Approaching Healing Through a Trauma-Informed Lens
Let Beauty Guide You
06/28/21 • 57 min
Trauma. A BIG topic with lots of angles and points of discussion. In this episode, Trauma-Informed Coach Will Deroode, addresses some questions people may have if they are thinking of doing trauma-informed work and gives us the coles notes on what it means to approach healing through a trauma-informed lens. How do we know if we need a trauma-informed methodology to empower us? Are trauma-informed approaches best executed in a one-on-one capacity? Who is the right trauma-informed healer for us? Do we misuse the word trauma or use our trauma to avoid responsibility? Can we ever arrive at a place where we can say, "Yep, I'm totally healed!"? These are all questions Will explores!

Being a Spiritual Ninja Means No Spiritual Bypassing
Let Beauty Guide You
06/20/20 • 33 min
White folks, this is a conversation calling for us to be better! In this episode, Best Selling author, Janelle Christa, explains what it means to be a Spiritual Ninja. In order to contribute at our greatest capacity, we must face our humanity and deal with the hard stuff. Relating her work to Black Lives Matter, Janelle doubles down on why it's not okay for white people to deny, ignore, or bypass systematic oppression and the pain of BIPOC (in this conversation, specifically Black people). In the context of standing for social justice, yes, self care is important. However, the Black Lives Matter movement is not about the fragile feelings of white people. Protect our energy so we can hold space and contribute? Yes. But we should feel this. We should de-numb ourselves to the pain of all those who are oppressed. It is only by doing the work and getting present to the impact of White Supremacy that we can leverage our privilege to take steps in the right direction.
