Please enjoy this special episode of NAMI's Hope Starts With Us featuring ME! As an ambassador for NAMI, I couldn't be happier to have this beautiful conversation with Daniel. The conversation about Maternal Mental Health is more important than ever. So many women are scared to open up and share their thoughts, feelings and emotions while pregnant or postpartum....I hope this episode helps them feel less alone in their journey.
In this episode of NAMI’s podcast, NAMI CEO Daniel H. Gillison Jr. speaks with actor, mental health advocate and NAMI Ambassador Alessandra Torresani about her journey with maternal mental health and bipolar disorder. To Pee Wee: A Farewell Love Letter
Today's episode is going to be a little different... I initially recorded this episode with no intention of releasing it. I just wanted to say goodbye to my Emotional Support, Pee Wee, the only way I knew how to. I needed to release my thoughts of pain, grief, and death. Pee Wee was a dog to the naked eye, but to me, he was my everything. This podcast wouldn't have existed if I didn't have him. The heartbeat to heartbeat connection I had with him was the only way I knew how to regulate my manic episodes and panic attacks. I hope this episode brings to light the importance of animals to those who suffer with mental illness. Grief has been brought back to my life again and I'm ready to talk it out loud with you, as I'm beautifully reminded by you all that I am not alone in this sadness. Thank you for being my Emotional Support. I love you Pee.
