600: Don't Keep Your Day Job {Interview with Cathy Heller}
Emotionally Uncomfortable
11/11/19 • 49 min
"You are enough." - Cathy Heller
Cathy Heller is a fire hose of inspiration. She’s the host of the popular podcast Don’t Keep Your Day Job, which was given the #1 spot on iTunes recommend list of shows for the New Year in 2018 and 2019.
Each week Cathy encourages thousands and thousands of listeners to find more purpose in their life and get paid to do what they love full time. She started out as a singer songwriter and first found success licensing her music to TV, Film and Ads. Quickly she became a stand out in her field and was featured in magazines like Billboard, Variety and the LA Weekly.
After making a multi six figure living with her music, Cathy started a music agency and then she began teaching other artists to grow their own careers.
Two weeks after her third daughter was born, she started her top ranked podcast. Cathy’s show has been featured in Forbes, Entrepreneur Magazine, HuffPost, the NY Times and Inc Magazine’s “top 9 podcasts”, and has over 7 million downloads. She’s been featured several times by Apple themselves and the fans are resonating with how genuine she is. Throughout the show, she has interviewed creative entrepreneurs like actress Jenna Fischer, popular blogger Seth Godin, designer Jonathan Adler, make up artist Bobbi Brown, dancer Mandy Moore, fashionista Tamara Mellon, novelist Emily Giffin, fitness expert Jillian Michaels, Starbucks’s Howard Schultz, and Gretchen Rubin to name a few.
She is a phenomenal coach for creative entrepreneurs and she’s helping people everywhere find a deeper sense of purpose and add their gifts to the world. When she’s not teaching or interviewing amazing guests for her podcast, you can find Cathy playing with her three little girls, writing her book, songwriting for tv shows and commercials, or enjoying a moment with friends.
Cathy often says “purpose is the opposite of depression” and she is truly lifting others to be the happiest version of themselves.
In this episode, Cathy and I talk about:
- How to pursue your own dreams while being a mother
- The power of belief
- How to be yourself and get paid to be you

159: We Are Ruled By Emotions, Not By Logic
Emotionally Uncomfortable
02/09/17 • 27 min
"Human beings are not reasonable creatures, instead of being ruled by logic, we are ruled by emotions. The world would be a happier place if the opposite were true. For example, based on a single phone call, I have begun to hope for a miracle. I don't believe in God." - From The Sun Is Also A Star.

085: How to I get my 12 & 13 year old to do their chores?
Emotionally Uncomfortable
05/25/16 • 14 min
I was asked this question...
How do I get my tween daughters 12 & 13 to do their chores? I am tired of nagging. I am trying to delegate as I am not the family's maid (which I feel like). I am planning on returning to school next year. They each have six chores per week~feed the dog, clean downstairs bathroom, vacuum stairs.... HELP. I am beginning to feel resentful.
This is my answer... Schedule a team meeting Listen to what they want - how they feel about the situation. Come up with HOW it's going to happen (the plan). What is there reward for doing their chores?SPONSOR:

206: Gratitude Kills Worry

"Be thankful for what we have; you'll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don't have, you will never, ever have enough." - Oprah Winfrey
026: Why are you settling for good?
Emotionally Uncomfortable
11/03/15 • 10 min
Point: Don’t settle for good, achieve greatness.
Happiness comes when we are diving into our soul desires. Good is average, greatness is becoming who you were born to become.
Point: Become what you most desire your children to be. We can not expect anything from others, if we are not willing to do it ourselves. Period. Point: Have hard conversations. This is where the magic happens. This is when connection and growth occur. ACTION STEP: Journal. Where are you settling? What is one uncomfortable conversation you need to have. 040: Teaching Children About The Big 'G' Words.
Emotionally Uncomfortable
12/26/15 • 58 min
A big piece of connection comes from something bigger than ourselves. This is more about being rather than doing. So how do we teach this to our children?
This questions inspired a conversation with Neale Donald Walsh when I met him a few weeks ago.
In today's episode I am interviewing his Co- Authors on this topic...
What is God?
How do we teach our children these concepts while still giving them full control over their beliefs?
What can we do as parents do protect our children from creating limiting beliefs about who they are, their purpose etc...?
