The podcast and book were started with my patients in mind. Due to time restrictions, I recognized the need for more education on fibromyalgia and related illnesses. If you have not checked out the book, the podcast is meant to supplement what was covered there. Many people worldwide will never be able to see me as their doctor, and I hope this podcast offers valuable insights, information, and wisdom from a medical doctor using a multifaceted evidence-based approach from the perspective of a pediatrician, internist, lifestyle medicine physician, and clinical lipidologist. If you are a doctor or another health care professional caring for those with invisible illnesses, I hope these serve you well. Many people have either been told or read that fibromyalgia isn't real or that it is just all in their heads. This misunderstanding, unfortunately, causes harm and is a disservice to those suffering. If you are one of the estimated more than 10 million people in the United States who are suffering from fibromyalgia, then you know it is real. If you don't have fibromyalgia, you will, at a minimum, gain a deeper understanding of what you or your loved one is experiencing. If you have fibromyalgia, you will feel validated for what you have endured. I have over 27 years of experience as a doctor and am continuing to learn about medical problems, including invisible illnesses like fibromyalgia and related problems. You can learn more by visiting www.conqueringyourfibromyalgia.com.

Deb Malkin, certified life coach, bodyworker, hypnotist and Pain Recovery Coach shares tips for rewiring persistent pain and emotional overwhelm. After experiencing their own overnight transformation of her chronic knee pain while 50, fat and with an x-ray showing degenerative osteoarthritis, she discovered pain wasn't only what her bodywork education or doctors were teaching. Using tools inspired by the work of Dr. Sarno, physician and author of Healing Back Pain and Mindbody Prescription she has added a blend of mindbody awareness, polyvagal theory, life coaching magic and a lot of health at every size rebelliousness to develop thier own special process that takes into consideration the affects of marginalization and stigma to teach the brain and body how to embody safety and unlearn pain. Deb is a long time bodyworker, movement enthusiast, former plus size clothing store owner and aging fat queer human with an irreverent sense of humor. She believes all bodies are born with inherent worth and value. Trained by Dr. Howard Schubiner, a renowned Mindbody Physician and Charlie Merrill, PT, the Pain Psychology Center and famed Hypnotist Melissa Tiers, Deb has successfully helped clients eliminate or reduce migraine, back pain, knee, foot and fibromyalgia pain and her clients have resumed creating lives full of richly desired physical activities without fear about chronic or persistent pain.

Striving to Thriving is your resource for those things related to the biological, psychological and social (biopsychosocial) aspects and challenges of chronic pain. My name is David Hall and I am a certified health and wellness coach, and a Chronic Pain Support Group Facilitator, certified by the U.S. Pain Foundation. I worked in the microelectronics and biomedical device manufacturing industries for over 30 years. In 2007, I sustained an injury to my spine in a bad rollover accident, ultimately requiring the implant of a spinal cord stimulator to manage my pain. Three years ago, because of a surgery that didn’t go as planned, I contracted one of the most painful chronic conditions, CRPS (Complex Regional Pain Syndrome), also known as the suicide disease. Despite these challenges, with the help and education I received from my pain specialist, I made the arduous journey from Striving to Thriving despite my challenges with chronic pain. I have devoted my life to continuing her work, helping those struggling in chronic pain.My podcasts will address a myriad of topics related to chronic pain, neuroscience, wellness, lifestyle adaptation, neurology and psychology of pain, various forms of therapy, and more. I will also host special guests from time to time who provide solutions, treatments, technologies and legislation regarding treatment and care of people afflicted with chronic pain.
