play

06/28/22 • 29 min

This week I combined a little of Episode 11, which was an introduction to trauma, with last week’s episode about patterns.

What differs, if anything, when a pattern is coming from a trauma? Most patterns link back to trauma, either directly or indirectly. In today’s episode you will learn:

  • A couple of the most common symptoms of trauma
  • Patterns that tend to come from those symptoms
  • The effect of Covid on all of us, especially the worker shortage
  • How you can change that pattern and experience relief

The Catapult Effect - The Carnivore Diet with Casey Ruff
play

01/24/23 • 90 min

In this episode of The Pain ChangerTM podcast, Casey Ruff joined me to talk about the carnivore diet. Casey has been a certified personal trainer since 2007. He successfully ran a metabolic testing program for a large gym and oversaw 13 programs in the west region.
He has multiple certifications as a personal trainer, lifestyle coach, and performance enhancement specialist. With his nutrition coaching certifications, he specializes in low-carbohydrate lifestyles, including ketogenic and carnivore diets. He has helped thousands of clients over fourteen years learn how to achieve their best lifestyle through movement, lifestyle management, and proper diet.
Together with Bethany, they created Boundless Body LLC during the 2020 pandemic. He is the host of two podcasts, Boundless Body Radio, and The How To Make a Podcast Podcast. He lives in South Jordan, Utah, with his wife Bethany, and their two dogs Rex and Tucker and their cat Lily. In his free time, he loves to cycle, play hockey, and paddleboard.
This diet was completely counterintuitive to me, and Casey clearly has the education to be able to teach you about this diet...so I had to know more! Casey makes it really easy to understand the science behind it, and he did a great job of answering the ethical questions that come up with a 100% animal based diet, as well as sharing experiences he’s seen with clients reporting fewer body aches on the carnivore diet. I’ve even started to follow this diet myself and I share my results on this show. The one result I totally forgot to share, because my focus was on health, not weight...was that I lost 5 pounds in 2 weeks!!!!!!In this episode, you will learn:

  • The science behind the carnivore diet and how your body adapts to the absence of plants
  • The reason cold cereal was invented - you will be shocked
  • How sustainable and ethical the carnivore diet can be
  • My own results and observations the first 2 weeks of the diet

Laughter is a free tool that we all have available at any time, but when you hurt all the time, it can be tough to find joy and laughter in life.

That’s why I wanted to have my friend, mentor, and coach, Melanie Curtis, come join us today to talk about cultivating comedy as a life skill.

In today's episode you will learn:

  • Why something is funny...and why something similar is offensive/minimalizing instead of funny
  • Why and how comedy and laughter help pain

The Catapult Effect - The Healing Power of Plants with Shannon Hernandez
play

06/14/22 • 53 min

Recently, there is more and more discussion around using psychedelics such as Ayahuasca to help us heal from emotional and/or physical pain.
There are many schools of thought around the use of psychedelic or other plant medicine.
My guest today is Shannon Hernandez, a former nurse turned spiritual master. If you’ve been curious about trying it out, or you aren’t sure whether a place you’re researching is safe, this is the episode for you. In this episode you will learn:

  • How plant medicine differs from pharmaceuticals
  • How psychedelics can help chronic pain
  • The difference between recreational and ceremonial use of psychedelics
  • Elements to look for when researching a church or other facility for ceremony

About Shannon:

A former Registered Nurse and Massage Therapist, Shannon is what some might call a transformation junkie, always seeking to grow and integrate what she has learned, and share it with others. Since she was a child, she has known her purpose was to "grow and be better." (That's youthful verbiage for transformation.) She has devoted her life to connecting with the "Great Spirit," orginating within the Christian church and later expanding to embrace all spiritual truths.

She has over 30 years of experience with psychedelics and healing arts, and over 20 years of education in transcendental philosophies. She is experienced in making sacraments with Master Plants. and makes herbal remedies with local medicinal plants.

Shannon has overcome addictions and understands the complexities in setting oneself free. In her 20's, Shannon suffered from chronic pain and debilitating asthma. She spent many years following the medical model of treatment, including numerous prescriptions and narcotics. She is pain-free since 2007, and 99% asthma free. Blissfully married now, she has been divorced twice, and gets the struggles of creating a happy, connected partnership. She is a coach, mentor, mom, plant sacrament facilitator, and an ordained minister. She's a lover of people, plants and animals, and believes in the deep, intrinsic value that Mother Nature offers to humans for healing, learning and connecting to God.

The Catapult Effect - EFT for Chronic Pain with Lauren Fonveille
play

09/27/22 • 44 min

In this week’s episode of The Pain Changer, I chat with Lauren Fonvielle, an Integrative Energy Practitioner, specializing in EFT/ Tapping for stress, anxiety, and trauma.

She guides her clients on a journey of self-healing to break through obstacles - physical, mental, or emotional - that are keeping them stuck and holding them back in life or business.

She believes we all have the answers within, and sometimes we just need a little help accessing them.

It was such a pleasure speaking with Lauren and hearing her own journey helping herself resolve and heal from chronic stress and anxiety. She brings in one of my favorite components that I love seeing in other practitioners: a true joy and passion for what she does. In my experience, that joy and passion can make all the difference. In this episode, you will learn:

  • What tapping, or EFT is, and how it can help
  • How much you can impact cortisol levels, a main component of stress, in just one EFT session
  • How it can offer relief from symptoms of trauma without going into the trauma itself
  • What my first EFT experience was like and what my body was trying to tell me at the time
