Beneath the Noise is a podcast about mental illness—the raw, disorienting, and sometimes darkly funny reality of living with a brain that doesn’t always cooperate. Hosted by Emily Jatcko, it’s part memoir, part cultural analysis, and entirely uninterested in the sanitized, feel-good version of mental health.

This isn’t a self-help podcast. There are no five-step plans or platitudes about positive thinking—just an honest look at psychosis, medication, work, relationships, and the ways neurodivergence shapes our lives. It’s about the contradictions: wanting to succeed in a system you fundamentally resent, feeling like both too much and not enough, learning to live with a diagnosis that rewrites everything you thought you knew about yourself.

Mental illness is absurd. It’s heavy. It’s frustratingly difficult to explain. But it’s also deeply human.

So if you’ve ever stared at a hospital showerhead having an existential crisis or tried to convince yourself you were fine while clearly unraveling—well, you’re in good company.

Let’s talk about it.

The podcast will carry on the conversation from our expert panelists, discussing in more detail, updates and breakdowns of current events in mental health, and explore and tackle on a deeper level the complex factors and determinants that impact mental health outcomes. A podcast covering a wide range of topics dealing with psychedelic medicines and therapy. Dr. Galindo who specialized in psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy will host a variety of topics encompassing this exciting field of medicine. His main focus will be to interview people and ask them to describe and narrate a special journey they had with a psychedelic. A podcast with a laid-back feel aimed to decrease the stigma of these medicines, and have fun along the way. Dr. Galindo is the founder of Innerbloom Healing Arts, a practice solely dedicated to psychedelic assisted psychotherapy. Located in Charleston, SC, Innerbloom Healing offers a safe space for ketamine assisted psychotherapy and integration work for psychedelic journeys.
Until the past decade, there was generally a pessimistic attitude about the treatment of patients with schizophrenia and their outcomes. One key concept that has been identified as critical in optimizing the care and outcomes of patients is continuity of care by a team of healthcare providers. Continuity of care is widely viewed as a key quality indicator for outpatient mental health care and is essential to prevention of relapse and re-hospitalization. Yet, progress has lagged in the implementation and measurement of continuity of care in clinical practice. In a recent educational activity by CME Outfitters, over 220 psychiatrists responded that their main reason for not changing practice immediately regarding continuity of care was they did not know where to start, demonstrating a gap in knowledge and performance regarding the implementation of this process in clinical practice. A first step to improving care is identifying the barriers that exist. Patient barriers, physician barriers and system barriers can be significant obstacles requiring education of the entire mental healthcare team in order to begin to break down the walls and allow clinicians to provide the best care for each patient. The identification of the barriers can be the first step in empowering both the provider and the patient. This can highlight to psychiatrists, other healthcare providers, payors, and healthcare systems what barriers may exist and how they are impacting the outcomes and lives of patients. In this neuroscienceCME Live and On Demand activity, faculty will highlight barriers to optimal care and their impact on the outcomes and lives of patients with schizophrenia and propose practical strategies and tools that can be utilized to improve the care of patients with schizophrenia. This activity also includes a special "After the Show" segment during which the faculty answers additional audience questions in an informal Q&A session.

To an outsider, the world of academia seems utopian, the ivory tower, and definitely a place less stressful than the « real world » where the rest of us live and work. Statistics show that 1 out of every 5 students or 20 per cent of the student population, at one time or another, experience some form of mental health illness, whether it be stress related, depression, anxiety or what have you. One thing for sure, if you do suffer, you are not alone. And more importantly, there are places where you can find people ready to listen. People ready to share. Which brings us back to our Podcast and Nurau. Nurau is a new-age platform that deals exclusively with mental health information and support, our underlying mission is to de-stigmatize the negative attitudes associated with mental health. So people who suffer and those around them can understand that mental illness is like any other physical illness, in that it can afflict anyone at any age and from every walk of life. Partnered with our friends over at the les Fonds National de Recherche, our Podcasts will feature interviews with people like us- who will share intimate details of how they dealt with their different mental health issues. And hopefully they will shed light on a topic that up to now has been kept in the dark because of shame and ignorance.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, more than 60 million people live in rural areas and it has been well documented that these Americans face specific challenges to accessing, utilizing, and paying for quality healthcare. Despite 20% of Americans living in rural areas, only 10% of the nation’s physicians practice in rural areas, with access to and availability of mental health specialists, such as psychiatrists, psychologists, psychiatric nurses, and social workers significantly lacking. Integrating mental and medical health in these rural areas has been a focus of many states to provide access and health education to providers and patients. It is critical that best practices implemented throughout the nation are shared among clinicians so that all providers can collaborate and improve their knowledge and performance, gain insights to the latest evidence, and provide optimal care services to patients and their families. Evolving technology has provided new opportunities to provide access to services and address barriers presented to patients and physicians practicing in remote rural communities. As technology improves, costs decrease and access increases—these forces help to create opportunities for increased collaborative care management. This neuroscienceCME Webcast will present key insights to better integrate primary care and mental health services, and address the unique challenges and performance gaps identified in rural populations.
