In the mountains of central Appalachia, blood runs as deep as these hollers and just as dark. Since before our kind knew these hills, hearts of unknowable hunger and madness have slumbered beneath them. These are the darkest mountains in the world. How dare we think we can break the skin of a god and dig out its heart without bringing forth blood and darkness? Old Gods of Appalachia is a horror-anthology podcast set in the shadows of an Alternate Appalachia, a place where digging too deep into the mines was just the first mistake.

Listen to the entire epic series, which follows Survivors in Los Angeles after the world has been turned upside down.

It begins with “A Story of Survival” which spans from Chapters 1-48. Our survivors band together, fortify a safe haven known as the Tower, and discover that the Infected are far from the biggest threat they will have to face.

The adventure continues with two mini-series:

“Lockdown” - A small group of inmates and prison guards are trapped in the T-block at Twin Towers Jail. They are forced to work together and find a way to escape while the rest of the world ends around them.

“Goldrush” - Set 17 years after the main events of “A Story of Survival”, this is a recollection story that describes the efforts of the four Soldiers as they attempt a side mission to retrieve a suspected stash of gold bullion.

Our newest season is “We’re Alive: Descendants”:

The story of survival continues; the fight is not over.

18 years after the Outbreak, the world is starting to re-organize and rebuild, but many different forms of humanity are still struggling to survive in the aftermath. Nicholas Tink grew up in the shadow of his father- the late, great, Saul Tink. Little does he know that deep in the places where infected dwell, another descendant lies waiting.

Content Warning: This podcast contains descriptions of graphic violence, sexual references, and strong language. Listener discretion is advised.

DEMOCRACY JONES is a science fiction-horror & dark humor fiction podcast. Decades of intense political partisanship exploded on Friday the 13th of July, 2040. That day a breakthrough technology was unleashed; a software for neural chips that could utilize millions of simulations to map plans for a military coup. When the smoke cleared and the vultures got their fill, it was found that tyranny had been born in the ashes of American democracy. Historians would remember that infamous day as 7/13.

Live. Laugh. Bite.

Alfie is a nurse working overtime on the night shift in A&E when a patient comes in with her throat torn out. The girl on the gurney is the first of many, baffling staff and horrifying the public. Eventually, Alfie almost becomes another victim of the walking, rotting dead things which have been attacking his patients, but is saved by the same man he saw dripping blood into his patient’s eye. He’s Casper, and he’s a vampire, and now he’s saved Alfie’s life the two of them are inescapably bound together. Neither of them are happy about it, but the draw of each other’s blood is irresistible. Another brush with death later, Alfie must make a choice: death or undeath. He’s not sure which is worse, but whatever he chooses, there’s bound to be blood.

A fortnightly horror audio drama. Spirit Box Radio is a cosy horror fiction podcast about a radio show for enthusiasts of all things arcane. The show has recently been taken over by Sam Enfield, a former postboy with no experience in the arcane arts, following the disappearance of the previous host. Sam soon discovers there are more than ghosts haunting the show, and finds himself amidst a mystery which threatens everything he knows about the world beyond his tiny basement broadcast studio, and maybe even himself. With a whole host of supporting characters from knife-wielding lesbians and truth-knowing lawyers to angry bog-witches and hot-coded florists, the world of SBR is brought to life by a cast of majority LGBTQ+ actors from across the world. Spirit Box Radio started airing in November 2020. It now has almost 100 episodes and won the The People's Choice Podcast Awards Best Fiction Podcast of 2021, and a finalist in the 2021 Audio Verse Awards, at which it also won Best Guest Performance. Tune in, get spooky. Created by Eira Major for Hanging Sloth Studios. Transcripts available on the HSS website. Support this show on Ko-Fi or Patreon. Part of the Rusty Quill Network. THIS HOUSE WILL DEVOUR YOU is a story of love, madness, murder, mysteries and dead gods set in the1920's. It is an epistolary audio drama as told by Jon and Elizabeth to each other in their letters.

Season One takes place in Ireland and England, with the action in Season Two focussed on Egypt, as well as Ireland and England.

Come join us for a gothic, slow burn story of gothic horror, romance and adventure!

For lovers of creepy, slow-burn, gothic 1920’s historical fiction, romance and low key horror. "...perfectly timed for the fireside", one of the Sunday Independent's "newly hatched gems" (December 2022).
SEASON ONE is a twelve part story of love, madness, murder, mysteries and dead gods set in Ireland and England. Kilphaun Hall sits high on a ridge overlooking the Blackwater river in County Waterford. Abandoned and silent for so long, it echoes now to the cheerful sounds of renovation and preparations for the coming social season of winter 1925. But Kilphaun Hall has its secrets and some places are best left to rot, forgotten. Set between England and the uneasy peace of post-Civil War Ireland, newly returned Captain Jon Ross must survive both local hostility and the increasingly sinister happenings at the house as his English fiancée Elizabeth Sanderson risks London’s occultist demi-monde in a race to save him.
In SEASON TWO Elizabeth comes to the fore as she sets off for Egypt in a possibly foolhardy quest for a cure for her stricken brother and now appears to have gotten herself mixed up in something very sinister, involving ancient Egyptian gods, cursed expeditions, murderous secret societies and imperial ambitions.

It is March, 1915 in France, and just behind the front lines a woman is running for her life. She does not run from enemy soldiers or falling mortars; a far more sinister creature stalks her, one created by bloodshed and black magic. This is the newest threat in a war growing uglier by the day, and it won't be the last. Or the worst.

But this woman is not a civilian. As a knight of the Order of Joan, she is only one of a legion of women with a long history of monster hunting. So when she runs, she does not do so blindly; it's all part of the larger plan.

Frequently Asked Questions About Horror Podcasts

What are horror podcasts?

Horror podcasts are audio shows that focus on delivering terrifying and chilling stories to the listeners. They often incorporate elements of suspense, supernatural occurrences, psychological thrillers, and other horror subgenres. These podcasts use sound effects, voice acting, and immersive storytelling techniques to create a spine-tingling experience.

What types of horror podcasts are available?

Horror podcasts encompass a wide range of subgenres and storytelling styles. Some common types of horror podcasts include supernatural horror, true crime horror, psychological horror, Lovecraftian horror, ghost stories, and urban legends. Each subgenre offers a unique approach to horror storytelling, catering to different preferences and interests.

Are horror podcasts suitable for all audiences?

Horror podcasts are typically targeted towards adult audiences due to their intense and often frightening content. They may contain graphic descriptions, violence, strong language, and mature themes. However, some horror podcasts are specifically designed for younger audiences and offer age-appropriate scares. It's essential to check the rating or content warnings of a horror podcast before listening, especially if you're sensitive to intense or disturbing material.

Are horror podcasts based on true stories?

While some horror podcasts are based on real-life events or inspired by true stories, many of them are entirely fictional. Creators often draw inspiration from urban legends, folklore, and their own imaginations to craft captivating horror narratives. Some podcasts may explicitly mention if they are based on true events, but it's always a good idea to research the podcast or episode description to determine its factual basis.

How can I find popular horror podcasts?

Finding popular horror podcasts is relatively easy as they have gained significant popularity in recent years. You can explore podcast directories on Goodpods, and use their search features to look for horror podcasts. Additionally, you can browse through "best of" lists, and recommendations from horror enthusiasts, or join horror podcast communities to discover new and highly regarded shows.
