Send Me A Message! What's the biggest challenge you face when it comes to looking, feeling, and performing your best? Let me know and I'll show you how to MMU in an upcoming epsiode.

🤔 EP061 - If you are looking to make 2025 THE year when it comes to your health and your fitness, but you’ve made that promise before only to NOT follow through on it, what is the glaringly obvious truth that most people don’t want to but NEED to hear as to why they struggle to reach their health and fitness goals?
When they set out on their health and fitness journey, most people enlist the help of others as studies clearly show that when you involve others in your pursuit of goals, your likelihood of success goes up. Or does it?

In his book The War of Art, Steven Pressfield had this to say about seeking support from others:

“Seeking support from friends and family is like having your people gathered around you at your deathbed. It’s nice, but when the ship sails, all they can do is stand on the dock waving goodbye. Any support we get from persons of flesh and blood is like Monopoly money; it’s not legal tender in that sphere where we have to do our work. In fact, the more energy we spend stocking up on support from colleagues and loved ones, the weaker we become and the less capable of handling our business.”

If you’re hoping that by enlisting the support of a gym buddy or even a coach like myself, I’ve got some news that you may not want to hear - as soon as your gym buddy or coach steps out of the picture, it won’t be long before the success you’ve achieved disappears because you’ve been ignoring the real issue the entire time.

🤝 Help a Brotha Out! If you find value in today’s PodWod, please help others who may need to hear today’s message by rating and reviewing the podcast. A minute or two of your time could help save a lifetime of suffering for one of our fellow Brothers out there.

🤔 EP018 - If you’ve hit a plateau with your physique and you’re not happy with the body you see staring back at you in the mirror, what’s the anchor you need to weigh so that you don’t stay stuck where you are permanently?
FACT - 30-40% of us men are not happy with the way we look, feel, and perform and a good 85% of us wish we had more muscle. And since our bodies - whether we like it or not - are a clear sign to the world of our level of masculinity, how trustworthy we are, and how much we care about ourselves and our families, what is it going to take for us to flip the switch on masculine health and fitness?
🎙️ In today's podcast, I’m going to talk about something super embarrassing when it comes to my body in hopes that the transformation I have been able to make - both in mind and body - inspires you to take a good, honest look as to whether or not you’re selling yourself short, holding yourself back, or both.

EP001 - "You do not rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems." - James Clear, Atomic Habits
🤔 Did you know that June is Men's Mental Health Awareness Month?
⚠️ FACT: Most men live lives of quiet desperation not because they don't have the potential to be better, but rather because the system they have for tapping into that potential is shit or non-existent.
😔 And when you can't tap into your potential, guess what happens to your mental health? I can tell you from first-hand experience that it's not pretty. You feel alone, doubt yourself, can't connect with the people you love, and begin to lose what little hope you have of turning things around.
🎙️ In today's episode, we take the first step to Muscle-Up our mental health and fitness with our very first PodWod (Podcast Workout of the Day), which outlines how to easily build one of the best habits I've developed for overcoming procrastination and ending Mental Masturbation. The best part is that today's PodWod will only take 1-2 minutes.
🎧 Stay tuned for EP002 of the MMU Podcast as we launch into Part I of the 5-part MMU Bootcamp dedicated to June's focus on Men's Mental Health Awareness, The Very Real-World Consequences of Mental Masturbation.

EP112 - How can you as a man or woman support your partner who struggles with mental health issues?
I could not think of a better human being to ask than the one human being who has had to manage my mental health more than anyone, my partner, Jennilee.
I can honestly say that I would not be having this conversation with you had it not been for the countless conversations and the seemingly infinite mental and emotional spots JL has given me over the years.
I am so fucking blessed to be able to share her voice with you as I know the words contained within said voice will Ignite the Impact you wish to see in your world as it relates to your mental health.
Here are just a couple of the jems we be tossing around today:
👉🏾 What are the struggles your partner faces as a woman living with a man with mental health issues?

👉🏾 What should you do when all you want to do is fix your partner's problems but doing so will only make the problems worse?

👉🏾 Do you know your own coping mechanisms so that you can share those with your partner?

👉🏾 What's the best thing you can do when your partner is having a mental health breakdown?
👉🏾 Does it help to know where your mental health issues stem from?
👉🏾 If you yourself don't struggle with depression, anxiety, or panic attacks how can you empathize with someone who does?
👉🏾 Do you need to look outside yourself for the solutions to your mental health issues or is it a combination of getting a spot and spotting yourself?

EP107 - What role does physical fitness play in your mental health?

This is what we will be unraveling today with the help of my two amazing repeat guests Philip Pape (EP037, 087, 097, 106) and Paul Salter (EP088), both of whom have become extremely close Brothers who have spotted me more times than I can count when it comes to life outside the gym.
Here are just a few of the topics we be tackling today:
👉🏾 What are the 3 Big Lifts - aka the equivalent of Bench, Squats, and Deads - when it comes to your mental health?
👉🏾 How long does it take to forge meaningful relationships with other men? (Hint: think in seconds or minutes, not days, months, or years)
👉🏾 What is the Gap and the Gain concept and how does knowing/practicing it improve one’s mental health?
👉🏾 Is there a right way to journal and why do Paul and I practice journalling daily?
👉🏾 What if you don’t like journalling? What can you do instead that will yield similar results? (This is Philip’s jam!)
👉🏾 How do you flip the switch with your emotions when you can’t afford to stay in the deep end?
👉🏾 How to use physical fitness as a form of meditation if sitting in lotus or silence just ain’t your jam so that you can still connect with the voice inside you
👉🏾 How does society shape our identity as it relates to how we look and how we develop a healthy relationship with our body as men?

EP106 - How important are the relationships men have with other men? It's not hyperbole to say that they are the difference between life and death. This statement is more than literal. While males die by suicide three to four times more often than females in the Western World, I would argue that an equally troubling epidemic is the man who is alive but far from living.
The mental health issues men face today have many causes, but what lies at the center of it all is male loneliness - men feeling like they are alone whether they are in solitude or surrounded by loved ones.
In short, I truly believe that to begin putting a dent in the epidemic that is men's mental health it starts with one thing - connecting men with other men who will help them become better men.
Today, you are going to get a behind-the-scenes look at the six men who have impacted and saved my life more than anyone outside of Jennilee. Six men without whom I may not even be here.

We cover a TON of amazing topics in this episode including but not limited to...
👉🏾 Living a comfortably numb existence
👉🏾 How mental health must be defined on an individual basis
👉🏾 What life is like without alcohol
👉🏾 What does intimacy between men look like?
👉🏾 How to quantify your life's purpose
👉🏾 Tracking your success in life
👉🏾 How to know if you're being a good romantic partner
👉🏾 Developing incredible self-awareness
👉🏾 The importance and power of being around the right men
👉🏾 Why anyone who is suffering does not need to suffer alone

....and much, MUCH more!

EP105 - There is a hidden epidemic that is men's mental health. But who's to blame? Is it society? Is it men themselves? Is it women? What is the real source of male suffering?
Today's episode ended up being the most multi-opinioned episode I have ever recorded.
Luckily, I had three amazing guests - Marc Paisant from the Relatively Normal podcast, Josie Warren, a former therapist who helps individuals with autoimmune and mental health disorders, and J. Stamatelos, a self-relationship coach who works primarily with men.
Here's a quick look at what we're going to be training today:
👉🏾 MMU #1 - Is it the outside world that determines the state of our mental health or do we have complete agency over our internal state of being? (8:11)
👉🏾 MMU #2 - Do men and women need different types of therapy or are our problems unique to us as men requiring unique solutions and approaches? (18:31)
👉🏾 MMU #3 - Are we playing the victim card too much when it comes to depression and anxiety? Are we truly victims of society? When is it time for us to step up for ourselves and take control of our lives? (42:36)
👉🏾 MMU #4 - Are men consciously or unconsciously competing with each other and how is that affecting our mental health? What is the single greatest threat to men’s mental health and how does shame play into that? (1:03:22)
👉🏾 BONUS MMU - Are men the victims of women’s need to emasculate us? Are all women inherently unhappy and therefore trying to take it out on men to fill a void they can't fill themselves? (1:17:00)

....and much, MUCH more!

EP091 - What does vulnerability have to do with being a 'man's man', and how the hell can a man go about experiencing, embracing, and expressing vulnerability?
Today, my guest is Erik DaRosa, who is a former Wall St. investor, fellow podcaster, and trauma survivor advocate who has transformed his life from one of a hollow corporate shell to a man living with and on purpose.
Erik and I share so much in common, not the least of which is taking our passion - in his case skiing - and using it to help others overcome anxiety, and depression, and deal with the struggles of everyday life.
Erik is an amazing example of what can happen when a man is willing to stop fucking lying to himself, take a good look in the mirror, and realize that while he is responsible for his own life and happiness, this is not a journey that can or should be taken alone.

Here are just a few of the amazing takeaways Erik and I will be crushing today:
👉🏾 How Erik crashing into a condo while skiing turned out to be an amazing wake-up call to drop the Wall Street investor facade once and for all (15:34)
👉🏾 Why both in life and in skiing you can’t just put your head down and expect to move forward, and if you focus on the trees (anxious thoughts) you ARE going to crash (30:03)
👉🏾 What does NOT being vulnerable look like so you can catch it and turn that shit around (101:00)
👉🏾 What to look out for and what to do to recognize pain in the people you love when on the surface they seem okay (114:46)
👉🏾 One of the core vulnerability practices every couple who struggles with communication needs to PRACTICE (134:27)
👉🏾 What Jordan, LeBron, Gretzky, and Brady can teach us about vulnerability (151:15)

👊🏾 GIVE A SPOT. GET A SPOT.
When it comes to the ultimate workout that is everyday life, we all need a spot from time to time to carry the weight of relationships, mental health, work, and living with purpose.

🤔 EP051 - If you’re an entrepreneur with the goal of disrupting an entire industry because you’re tired of seeing people suffer from the bullshit advice they get from the so-called gurus, what is the unseen war we must wage and win over and over again to avoid taking our dreams to the grave with us?
“Success is not a goal to reach or a finish line to cross. It is a system to improve, an endless process to refine.” - James Clear

🎙️ In today’s PodWod, we be crushing our PURPOSE Health & Fitness.
FACT - One of the things that really sucks about losing weight is the longer you wait to do it the harder it is to get started. On top of that, there’s the obvious downfall of the amount of weight you put on increasing in proportion to the time you waste deciding to take action.

When it comes to getting our message out there and doing what we love not only for profit but just as importantly for Purpose, the same rule applies. The longer you put shit off out of fear of failure the more your failure compounds, and one day you’ll wake up and realize that the work you have to do is substantially more than the work you should have done.
