the Heart Centered Millionaire - Content Creation Tips with Olley Thorpe

Content Creation Tips with Olley Thorpe

05/01/20 • 40 min

the Heart Centered Millionaire

Today we’re going to target online entrepreneurs and hopefully give you all something you can implement right away in your businesses.

My guest today is Olley Thorpe. Olley runs a Social Media Marketing agency in the U.K. He studied motion graphics & animation in college while working at a shoe shop, but in his final year of college... he quit. His cousin referred him for a job, and despite not being qualified for it, he interviewed and got it (it’s not who you know, it’s what you know!). During this time, he got really into fitness, and decided to become a personal trainer. His attention shifted from going to the gym to learning about the gym, and as soon as he got his qualification, he gave his notice at his job, and got a job working at a gym. But even that left him feeling like there was no room for growth, so he started freelancing, both with video editing and even personal training, and thus began the leap into the entrepreneur, online sphere.

In this episode, Olley and I talk about content creation, platforms (especially YouTube), equipment, and more.

So what can we learn from OIley?

  • Don’t be afraid to get another job in addition to working on your business. No matter what you do, the 9-5 isn’t going anywhere. Even in this COVID-19 world, if you put yourself out there, you can get a job. If you’re working in a job you don’t like, you have an incentive to get out of it. Even if you work two days a week at a coffee shop, it’s something. If your business is not succeeding, you can always find something.
  • Repurpose your content. Be strategic with your content and figure out ways you can document and create. Find a platform that you want to dominate. To grow on that platform, you need to speak directly to your ideal client.
  • Olley’s equipment tips: Cameras, mics, computers, lighting,drones... they are important and can even be a talking point in their business. But equipment is not everything. If you want to create content, save up for a camera, and then once you buy it, you don’t know how to use it, what good is that? Start small (even with your iphone!), and grow your equipment as your business grows.

How to Master Your Mindset with Todd Pierce and Dean Martin

Let’s talk mindset!

Dean has a background in health & fitness and has been in the industry for about 12 years. He met Todd while working in gyms. After living as an elite athlete, he realized that being strict about your eating, exercising, and lifestyle is not the right way to live. Todd’s story is very different. He struggled growing up with a tumultuous childhood and drug addiction. He finally decided that enough was enough, and quit doing drugs cold turkey and finally realized that change comes from within. Dean is the extrovert and Todd is the introvert, but it is in their opposite personalities that they create the perfect balance in their partnership.

So what can we learn from Todd & Dean?

  • The easiest way to sabotage your success is to compare where you are to where your idol is.
  • You have to be a fool before you become a master. You have to be ok with making mistakes.
  • The biggest sale that you’ve got is YOU. Sell yourself on the value of your services every day. Stop trying to impress your prospect. Instead, focus on assessing how you can provide value to them. You are there for them.

Marketing Myths with Tara Wilder

Are you feeling like a deer in the headlights when it comes to marketing? Wondering where to start, or where your next step should be? This episode is for you.
My guest this week is Tara, an online marketing expert and agency owner. Tara’s original dream was to get a PhD in psychology, but decided midway through earning her bachelor’s degree, decided that it wasn’t for her. She graduated from college and looked for jobs in the marketing industry with no luck. She ended up starting her own web design company and quickly started being found on google with clients.

In this episode, Tara is going to dispel common marketing myths, and teach you how to be confident with your online presence.

Here’s what we can learn from Tara:

  • You cannot have a business or online presence if you’re afraid of being judged. Fear of judgement is incredibly human, but if you’re going to be afraid and allow that fear to stop you, then you won’t get anything done and it will negatively affect your marketing and business. When you feel afraid, summon the courage and confidence of a child (or even you younger, more carefree and naive self!)
  • What to have on your website or social media profile to attract your ideal client. If you call out what someone has already experienced, they are more likely to connect with you. It’s important to repel people as well. Be really clear on who your people are. Don’t be afraid to niche down your audience.
  • Resistance: How to differentiate between the resistance that comes from discomfort and the resistance that comes from that which does not align with your values.
