Business Basics for Entrepreneurs with Austin Netzley
the Heart Centered Millionaire
09/17/20 • 25 min
My guest this week is my personal mentor, Austin Netzley! I would not be where I am today without him, so if he can help me, he can help you too!
Austin wanted to go to school to get an engineering degree to learn the ins and outs of factories and operations, and then work his way up the corporate ladder by getting an MBA. That’s when he discovered entrepreneurship, and had a deep desire to give back, contribute, and lead people. Five businesses later, he finally got it right and found his purposes: and 2X was born.
In this episode, Austin and I talk about business basics, entrepreneurship, and building the framework for success.
Here’s what you can learn in the episode:
Entrepreneurs jump around looking for clarity. Is it a bad thing to jump around to figure it out? The answer is complex. Some people really need the stepping stones to go from one thing to the next. But some people do this for decades, and that’s the problem... do your jumping around for a few years, not forever.
Take risks, fail, learn, and move forward. Every successful entrepreneur has failed. Failures give you the greatest lessons.
Get clear on your audience: Who are the people you want to serve?
5 Business basics you need to know: are you selling the right people the right stuff at the right price with the right positioning in a way they can scale?

How to Show Up For Your Online Business with Kandice Lea
the Heart Centered Millionaire
04/18/20 • 33 min
My guest this week is Kandice Lea, an online wellness business coach. Kandice started her entrepreneur journey at 19, but she always knew she wanted to be self-employed. She got her cosmetology license but felt unhappy and burned out working for someone else. That’s when she decided to finally fulfill her dream of opening her own salon, which ended up being super lucrative and successful. But after 7 years, a shoulder injury prevented her from styling hair, and as a result, she dove into the online entrepreneur sphere, and the rest is history.
So what can we learn from Kandice?
- Being an entrepreneur is less like a job and more like a mission. Most entrepreneurs feel a pull, or a drive, or a deep inner desire that they are destined for something.
- Your dreams have to be bigger than your fears. Diving in is scary. There are a lot of unknowns. But you have to press on if your dream is worth it.
- Show up in the online space. Put yourself out there, even if it makes you uncomfortable. The more visibility, the better. Have conversations with your followers and use that for your captions. Look at your insights and see what posts did the best, and then reuse and repurpose old content on your instagram, facebook, and emails.

A Conversation With Lauren Smith: the Master Your Mind, Business & Life Podcast
the Heart Centered Millionaire
10/15/20 • 37 min
This episode is a repost of a show I was on called the Master Your Mind, Business & Life Podcast with Lauren Smith! Be sure to check out her other episodes here!
In my conversation with Lauren, I talked about how I transitioned from working construction and manual labor to being a business coach in the fitness industry. I always knew there was something more for me out there. I was good at a lot of things growing up... but I wasn’t great. It was my wife Terri pushing me out of my comfort zone and inspiring me to reach for greatness was such a turning point for me.
Here’s what we go over in this interview:
- Mindset: working through tearing down who I thought Reuben was and rebuilding from the ground up.
- Belief: The only way you can do something consistently long term is through belief.
- The barriers to growth: Necessities vs. optimizations (check out episode 4 for more about these!)
- Knowing your numbers: once you know your numbers and improve them, you will improve the results. Your numbers are the best accountability partner you can find!
- What to track: how many targeted audience members came into your sphere? Did they become qualified lead? How many nurturing conversations did you have? How many sales calls did you have? Where did your last clients come from? If something is not repeatable, it’s not sustainable.
- The path of least resistance: focus on what platform is working for you and stick with it!
- Do you really need paid marketing? You should only move into paid marketing when it’s tactical and when you need it.
Remember: the greatest teacher is experience!

Content Creation Tips with Olley Thorpe
the Heart Centered Millionaire
05/01/20 • 40 min
Today we’re going to target online entrepreneurs and hopefully give you all something you can implement right away in your businesses.
My guest today is Olley Thorpe. Olley runs a Social Media Marketing agency in the U.K. He studied motion graphics & animation in college while working at a shoe shop, but in his final year of college... he quit. His cousin referred him for a job, and despite not being qualified for it, he interviewed and got it (it’s not who you know, it’s what you know!). During this time, he got really into fitness, and decided to become a personal trainer. His attention shifted from going to the gym to learning about the gym, and as soon as he got his qualification, he gave his notice at his job, and got a job working at a gym. But even that left him feeling like there was no room for growth, so he started freelancing, both with video editing and even personal training, and thus began the leap into the entrepreneur, online sphere.
In this episode, Olley and I talk about content creation, platforms (especially YouTube), equipment, and more.
So what can we learn from OIley?
- Don’t be afraid to get another job in addition to working on your business. No matter what you do, the 9-5 isn’t going anywhere. Even in this COVID-19 world, if you put yourself out there, you can get a job. If you’re working in a job you don’t like, you have an incentive to get out of it. Even if you work two days a week at a coffee shop, it’s something. If your business is not succeeding, you can always find something.
- Repurpose your content. Be strategic with your content and figure out ways you can document and create. Find a platform that you want to dominate. To grow on that platform, you need to speak directly to your ideal client.
- Olley’s equipment tips: Cameras, mics, computers, lighting,drones... they are important and can even be a talking point in their business. But equipment is not everything. If you want to create content, save up for a camera, and then once you buy it, you don’t know how to use it, what good is that? Start small (even with your iphone!), and grow your equipment as your business grows.

MASTERCLASS: How to Master and Double Your Sales
the Heart Centered Millionaire
11/05/20 • 13 min
Hello Heart Centered Entrepreneurs! Let’s talk about sales: why they are crucial to your business and how to be great at it! In this episode, we’re going to dive deep into two things: what you should be doing before a sales call, and what you should be doing on a sales call.
Sales calls are the way to do it! If you’re going to charge more than $500 for something, you’re going to want to get on a call with someone to sell to them. For something less than $500, you could always get on a short call, or you can just close it via messenger or email.
Here’s what you should focus on BEFORE your call:
- Lead quality: you have to have quality control when it comes to your leads. Quality is more important than anything.
- Nurturing: your leads need to be nurtured so that they are HOT leads, warmed and spiced up BEFORE you ask them to get on a call with you.
- Transparency: Don’t disguise your call as a discovery call or a strategy call. Be transparent with your intentions.
Here’s what you should do ON your call:
- Flow: having a script is a good place to start, but you need to know how a call flows. Preface the call with their pain points and problems, then ask what their goals are, and then let them know how you can be the bridge between their pain points and their goals
- Sell to serve! Don’t sell just to make money, sell because you want to serve people.
- Have a flexible plan: Have 2-3 options for people to be able to comfortably pay. If someone can’t pay upfront, have a payment plan option.
What NOT to do on a sales call:
- DON’T follow a script
- DON’T be a pushy, aggressive, car salesman

Marketing Myths with Tara Wilder
the Heart Centered Millionaire
05/09/20 • 37 min
Are you feeling like a deer in the headlights when it comes to marketing? Wondering where to start, or where your next step should be? This episode is for you.
My guest this week is Tara, an online marketing expert and agency owner. Tara’s original dream was to get a PhD in psychology, but decided midway through earning her bachelor’s degree, decided that it wasn’t for her. She graduated from college and looked for jobs in the marketing industry with no luck. She ended up starting her own web design company and quickly started being found on google with clients.
In this episode, Tara is going to dispel common marketing myths, and teach you how to be confident with your online presence.
Here’s what we can learn from Tara:
- You cannot have a business or online presence if you’re afraid of being judged. Fear of judgement is incredibly human, but if you’re going to be afraid and allow that fear to stop you, then you won’t get anything done and it will negatively affect your marketing and business. When you feel afraid, summon the courage and confidence of a child (or even you younger, more carefree and naive self!)
- What to have on your website or social media profile to attract your ideal client. If you call out what someone has already experienced, they are more likely to connect with you. It’s important to repel people as well. Be really clear on who your people are. Don’t be afraid to niche down your audience.
- Resistance: How to differentiate between the resistance that comes from discomfort and the resistance that comes from that which does not align with your values.

How to Build a Profitable Podcast with Travis Chappell
the Heart Centered Millionaire
11/12/20 • 32 min
Travis Chappell grew up in a strictly religious bubble, and ended up getting a degree in ministry. He realized that wasn’t his path, but because his degree wasn’t from an accredited institution, he didn’t have much to fall back on, so he got into door-to-door sales, but because he wasn’t a part of the corporate world, he couldn’t do much with that sales experience and nobody would hire him. That’s when he discovered the world of podcasting.
So why podcasting?
- Podcasting allowed for the freedom and networking Travis desired. Much of what podcasting is revolves around networking and relationship building.
- Podcasting is a valuable tool and asset to have in your repertoire, but the prescription and the reasoning behind it varies depending on each person’s individual situation.
- Podcasting is by far the least saturated of all social platforms. According to Travis, there are half a billion blogs, 31 million YouTube channels, a million books that come out every year, a billion people on instagram, 1.7 billion people facebook, nearly a billion people on LinkedIn, and nearly a billion on TikTok. There are only 1 million podcasts.
Things to keep in mind when you launch your podcast:
- Find your niche first. Too many people start too broad.
- Know there’s no one-size-fits-all strategy for growth.
- Know that you won’t see gratification instantly, but your future self will thank you for the work you’re putting in today. Delayed gratification is an important aspect of podcasting.
- Be honest, genuine, and transparent.

The Mountain Series: 3 Pitching Pitfalls You DON’T Want to Make
the Heart Centered Millionaire
10/29/20 • 12 min
Hello Heart Centered Entrepreneurs! Welcome to the third installment of the Mountain Series, so you might hear some of the beautiful noises of nature in the background of this episode!
Let’s talk about 3 ways you should NOT pitch your services. Mindset around selling is so important, and to be business-savvy and heart-centered, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do sales... it just means you do sales in a way that doesn’t feel pushy or aggressive, but rather, serving the world to the best of your capabilities.
The world needs your gifts. The world needs to be taught by you and served by you.
Pitches that DON’T work:
- The Pamphlet Pitch: you know what I’m talking about... you send this MASSIVE 30 page message on WHY they need your service, what the price is, how much they’ll go down the drain if they don’t have your service, why you’re the best person for it, and a link to your website for them to purchase.
- The Piss on You Pitch: this is when someone pitches to you with an insult... like how bad you’re doing and how their service could help you. Don’t tell them what they’re doing wrong, instead, ask them questions and THEN give advice. People don’t want negative, unsolicited advice.
- The Premature Pitch: this is when you pitch your services too soon. You need to have a warming mechanism to warm up those qualified leads so that they get to know you. You usually only have one opportunity to pitch to someone, so make sure they are adequately warmed up before you do!

The Client Journey: How to Turn Cold Leads into Hot Leads
the Heart Centered Millionaire
10/22/20 • 23 min
Hello Heart Centered Entrepreneurs! This week’s episode is a replay of one of my facebook live trainings. Let’s talk about lead nurturing and how to turn your cold leads into the hot leads that will get on a sales call with you. We’ll go over the process, step-by-step, to transform your leads. Listen all the way until the end for a Q+A session!
Before you even begin your sales process, you should start by building a targeted audience: adding 10-20 people a day who would be your ideal client. Once you have built your audience, we can talk about the clientele journey and how you should funnel your clients.
Step 1 - Content Distribution: choose the platform where your ideal clients will be, and use that platform to distribute content that will elicit a reaction from the right audience. How do you produce content that gets a reaction? Make sure your content asks questions that are niche-specific. If you never ask your clients any questions, you’ll never get any answers. Create content that is emotional and that will generate feelings that will encourage them to engage.
Step 2 - Subscribe: That doesn’t just mean emails - it means getting the people who have been engaging with your content more free value. This can include a facebook group, an email list, or anything that is free, but also exclusive that they can subscribe to with a call-to-action.
Step 3 - Commit: You want people to love what you do without a shadow of a doubt, and to be so nurtured that getting on a sales call with you is a no brainer. When you give someone so much free value, they want to give back to you. Have 1:1 communication in your DMs to give them even more customized value.
Here is your client journey:
Client becomes a part of your audience > they see your content distribution > they start engaging > they subscribe to your system and methodology > you get them committed through 1:1 personalized help > you get them to a place where they are now a paying client
Follow this process and you’ll get EXACTLY what you’re looking for!
