play

04/13/21 • 23 min

In this week’s episode, Jessica is joined by Reecie as they discuss the question: “Why won’t I just eat what’s good for me?” This question really is asking why we eat food. We don’t eat food just for nutrition – there are so many wonderful reasons why we eat to augment our lives – to celebrate, to comfort, to experience new adventures. This is not to the detriment of our health.

In this episode, Jessica mentions this document about how the marketing has been fabricating insecurities in order to sell products to sell to fix these false problems.

Jennifer shares her inspirational story of beginning life steeped in diet culture and fatphobia to understanding more about herself, the way she cares for herself and ultimately feeling free from shame and judgement. I love her story as it really shows how it is possible. You can be free of thinking about food all the time, feeling like you're not taking care of your body. That you can, and you in fact do know how to take care of yourself, you just need the space and freedom to do it.
Pull up a cozy chair, Jennifer's story is a wonderful listen.

In this week’s episode, Jessica receives a question from a member from her Facebook community group, The Comfy Spot, about what is Gentle Nutrition and how that can be applied to someone who has or had actively engaged in dieting behaviours. Furthermore, Jessica speaks on being mindful of ourselves, giving ourselves the time for self care when needed.

Does raincouver ever give off a chilling vibe? Sort of like how we can get an uneasy feeling about our bodies from the judgement and shaming of eating. We don’t need to feel this way if we could regress to a time where we felt self-love and care for our bodies from food, and more of this is talked about in the podcast!
