He is the Founder of Functional Diagnostic Nutrition® (FDN) and the FDN Certification Course with over 4,000 graduates in 50 countries. Reed served as the Health Director at a Wellness Center in Southern California for over 10 years and with over 10,000 clients is known as one of the most experienced clinicians in his field. Reed serves on the Advisory Board of the American Natural Wellness Coaches Board and the American Association of Natural Wellness Coaches. He lives in the US and when not teaching the FDN Certification Course and helping his graduates build their private practices, he is usually found gardening or riding motorcycles. As an Environmental Paralegal and conservationist throughout the 90’s Reed was “saving the planet” including the air, birds, water, trees and bees. In 1999 he turned his attention to, “What is the environment doing to PEOPLE, including ME?” That began a 25+ year career dedicated to helping people find out what’s really wrong and how to fix it naturally. After earning a certificate in nutritional therapy, Reed noticed that most patients had already seen multiple doctors and therapists and still had many of their original complaints. Reed decided then he would be the last practitioner anyone needed to see and became an expert in functional lab assessments. The FDN Course is the result of more research and experience than most practitioners get in a lifetime.

EP102: Excess estrogen might be preventing you from losing weight Are you struggling with excess estrogen? ‘Estrogen Dominance’ is a type of hormonal imbalance where the body has too much estrogen in relation to progesterone. Here are some symptoms of Estrogen Dominance: Irregular periods Heavy periods Cramping Weight gain, especially in mid-section, hips, and thighs Insomnia Sore, painful breasts Acne Depression, irritability, anxiety, fatigue Thyroid issues Low libido (low sex drive) Fibroids or endometriosis Does this sound like you? If so, you are not alone. In fact, Estrogen Dominance is one of the most common issues I see with the women we work with. It's also a main reason for fat loss resistance. In this episode, I share how and why estrogen can become out of balance and what exactly to do about it. I make specific recommendations related to nutrition and what to eat, lifestyle habits, and possible supplementation. (Be sure to talk with your doctor first before implementing any of these suggestions.) PS, you can get the Hormonal Health Meal Plan FREE here: https://carrotsncake.ck.page/c3539295e9 A Dutch Test is a great way to test for Estrogen Dominance (and other hormonal imbalances) and our team of coaches can help you create a personalized protocol. Can you relate to eating 1,200 – 1,400 calories and NOT seeing results? If so, please know that you are not alone. We see it often with the women who come to us for nutrition coaching. Eating below your energy needs is so common among women (thanks, diet culture) and oftentimes it prevents them from getting the results they want. In fact, chronically under-eating can lead to hormone imbalance, metabolism issues, and thyroid problems, all of which can actually cause weight gain. When Renee came to me, she was under-eating and struggling to change her body composition. She was also dealing with thyroid issues and awful periods. “I remember I was eating 1,200 calories...1,200 to 1,400 calories was my jam, and I thought I was doing everything right, but my hormones were jacked up.” Changing your physique, metabolism, and overall health takes time, and Renee was patient with the process. We worked together for an entire year, but as you'll hear in this episode, directly from Renee, it was worth it and even 'life-changing' with regard to how she now approaches her health and physique goals. Responsibly changing your body composition takes time and patience, and the biggest mistake I see women make when trying to lose weight is embarking on diet after diet, which stresses out the body, lowers your metabolism, and leads to frustration. Instead of working against your metabolism and doing further damage to your health (or, worse, gaining more weight), working with a coach (like me!) and committing to the process can finally get you the sustainable results you want once and for all!
