Cranks at Dawn - How cycling is changing lives in Sierra Leone!

How cycling is changing lives in Sierra Leone!

05/01/21 • 29 min

Cranks at Dawn

Abdul Karim Kamara is making a difference! And we're not just talking minor differences. He is the tireless community driver in Sierra Leone, where he is improving the lives of people with bicycles. He delivers learn-to-ride classes for girls who otherwise wouldn't know how to ride, because of cultural perceptions about women on bicycles. He’s the country manager for Village Bicycle Project in Sierra Leone, distributing donated bikes to kids who live far from a school and would otherwise walk 3 hours there and 3 hours back, missing half the school day in the process. He is running the biggest cycling team in the country. And he is organising Tour de Lunsar - the biggest race in West Africa. Nothing can stop Karim and if you think it can be difficult to get things organised, you probably haven't even been up against what Karim has been to make all this happen!
