You're Up First - Ep 23: When to Quit Your Job and How To Do It
play

04/27/23 • 39 min

Grab your headphones if kiddos are around!
Do you ever think about leaving your job?

Actually quitting a job is straight forward, give a two week notice and you’re done. But what if you’re quitting a career, or leaving a long standing position?
When the stakes are higher, there is a whole lot more that goes into that decision, and knowing when, why and how it’s the right time for you to take the leap, is a really important place to be.
On today’s episode I invite back Sarah Warman The Purpose Provocateur to talk about when to know it’s time to quit your job or pivot in your career. And when it’s time to go, how do we do it?

You're Up First - Ep 30: Worthy of Pausing
play

06/16/23 • 16 min

This episode is bitter-sweet, and also nothing short of a milestone. This publication today marks 54 episodes of the podcast. WOW!! In just over 9 months I have produced 24 minisodes and 30 full episodes. Phew!
Dear Listener, sincerely this has been one of the absolute most fun things I've ever done. It was a crazy, impulsive decision last September that quickly turned into an obsession, and I'm so proud of the quality and content of every episode. And all along the way, you have been there. The downloads each week give me life and I feel your love in the comments and the way you come back week after week for more.

So, with summer at our door and the kids out of school, this episode brings with it the official close of Season 1. Just as I started the podcast with Ep: 1 Worthy of Quitting, I'm wrapping this season with a poetic nod to that life-changing start with the final Ep: 30 Worthy of Pausing.

And that is what this will be, a pause, to formulate season 2, to enjoy time with the family, and maybe get up to a few other things that I talk about in today's episode. So without delay, hop in and give a quick listen to what I've got brewing this summer. To give a hint it might include morning pages, acting like my kids, and inviting a Marie Kondo-style purge in the dead spaces of our house.

This isn't goodbye but rather see you soon. And stay tuned here for updates on what's to come. Now get out there and enjoy your summer, and I'll see you back on the airwaves in no time! XOXO

If you’re in the mood for a gentle unfolding of a really beautiful conversation about the Enneagram, you’ve come to the right place.

When we think of healthy lifestyles and aging, it’s easy to think we need to focus on our diet and food choices. While those are important, they might not be the most important focus for optimal, or even moderate, vitality and wellness.

Today, I’m joined by Amy White, a functional, holistic nutritionist who approaches women’s health and wellness through body & life balance. Amy teaches that food is information and that most body imbalance is due to a simple communication issue. Amy’s nutrition background combined with her training as a life coach is how she helps her clients achieve and maintain the healthiest version of themselves at any age. And here’s a hint, food choices are a lot farther down the process than you might imagine.

This is a great conversation about how to achieve balance, and why saying yes is just as important as saying no.

You're Up First - Ep 27: Finding the Gateway to Midlife Magic
play

05/25/23 • 49 min

If Kiddos are around, grab your headphones!

If you are a woman that has thought, I’m just not myself anymore, I must be going crazy, nothing feels right...then this episode is for you. As a culture we have decided that the changes of midlife and menopause are miserable - the drudgery of irreversible and unwanted changes. It's something to dread and fear.

On today’s episode, I’m joined from Scottland by international bestselling author and Inner Wisdom Coach, Simone Moir, to talk about why our cultural conditioning puts us in a head space to completely miss out on the gifts, vitality, and endless options that is the second-half of life for women beyond their reproductive years.
What I’m saying is get excited! Believe it or not, this season is something to celebrate as the most healthy, focused, and free years of our lives, if we choose it.

You're Up First - Ep 25: How to Prepare for and Embrace the Empty Nest
play

05/11/23 • 38 min

On the eve of this Mother’s Day weekend, I wanted to share this episode and dedicate it to all of the Moms who give so much of their lives, hearts and time to their families.
This season is a full one, but no matter how little time there is to think about what comes next on our parenting journey, every now and then there’s a moment when you realize someday this will change. Someday they won’t need me like this. As much as we long to put up our feet, the idea of an empty house can be unsettling and sad.

But perhaps there is a way to ease into the transition from full-parenting to empty-nesting without it being a shock. Today, I’m joined by author and empty-nest support advocate, Bobbi Chegwyn, joining me to talk about the transition into the empty nest phase of parenting, and how it can be a manageable and even joyful process of self-discovery, even while we mourn the end of an era.
No matter where you are on your parenting journey, this is worth a listen because none of us want to be caught off guard when a new season comes to pass.

Has it ever occurred to you that the 40-hour work week might be arbitrary, dated and the creation of someone long ago with goals that might no longer align with modern living?
After all, the advent of computers and cell phones was supposed to shorten our work week, but instead it has just made it possible to never stop working at all. Perhaps there is a better way!

Today, I’m joined by content and marketing coach, Chas Young, to talk about how we can reconfigure our priorities and systems to create a 3-hour work day, where we get all of the important things done and still have time for all of the good stuff. Isn't that what we’re all after, anyway?

You're Up First - Minisode: Don't Buy What They're Selling
play

05/07/23 • 11 min

I've been asked a few times lately, which episode is my favorite. The answer is this one. For so many reasons, this.
Today I got in the booth to sound off for a minute about the notion that we are broken and need fixing. That's the universal sense of it, and anyone, anywhere that is selling something wants you to believe it, too.
I'm here to say, don't. You've already got everything you need. You really are enough.
Let's discuss...
