My Favorite Books in Business Part 1
08/17/23 • 16 min
One of the tools I used to help build my business was reading books. Books changed how I did business and I implemented so many of the lessons I learned from them. So today, I’m going to share with you a few of my favorites to help you grow your business as well!
The books I will be sharing with you today are books that affected my overarching idea of how business worked for me and changed how I did things. These are books that defined my work structure to make it what it is now. They’ll help you improve your business skills and have a clear business plan.
Books I cover:
2:13 - These three books really help you get clear on what your business looks like, where you’re going and what your goals are. These books are: The One Thing by Gary Keller, The 12 Week Year by Brian P. Moran and Michael Lennington, and The Vivid Vision by Cameron Herold.
5:35 - If you want to know how to build a business or what the thing to do next is, then there are two books for you to read: Making Money is Killing Your Business by Chuck Blakeman, and Buy Back Your Time by Dan Martell.
9:29 - If you are in early business or you feel like your skills are rusty, you should read Business Made Simple by Donald Miller.
11:01 - The two most important parts of business are how to bring in the money and how to keep the money. The one book that changed how I did this is Copywriting Secrets by Jim Edwards.
These 7 books are great reads and will improve how you do business. They will help you get clear on what your business is, what your next steps should be, and how to understand your target client. Happy reading!

Moms on a Mission with Amy Traugh
Running a business as a mom can be a very challenging task. There are many ups and downs throughout the process and sometimes it is just too much. Despite all of the challenges that come with being a mom and running a business, it is not an impossible task.
Today we are joined by Amy Traugh. Amy is the CEO of Moms on a Mission where her main goal is to change the narrative around moms and business. She believes that you do not have to pick one over the other and that these two jobs can coexist. Amy shares with us how to successfully plan days that are efficient for both tasks and how to make it as easy as possible.
Topics we cover:
5:22 - All sorts of moms come to work with Amy. Some of them are already working and overwhelmed, and others want to start their business. However, as a mom running a business, you need to understand and respect the season of motherhood that you are in.
7:20 - Mindset is 100% the key. If you don’t have self-awareness then you are going to hold yourself back.
9:00 - You need to have an individualized daily strategy that works for your season of life. Having a plan of what you want your day to look like will help it become a reality.
12:56 - It’s important to give yourself freedom and flexibility when planning out your day. There are going to be a lot of ups and downs, but that’s just part of life.
15:31 - You need to learn how to detach from the outcome and use the outcome and numbers as a tool to improve your business.
19:06 - When developing your family plan, you need to start by having a core mission and looking at what is at the top of your priorities. Also don’t be afraid to give roles and responsibilities to all the members of your family so that you can work together.
You’re never going to find the time; you have to make the time. This also includes time for fun, which is just as important as any other time. Life is meant to be lived, and being a business owner gives us that control. You can build your business around your life and have what you are dreaming of.

The 4 Pillars of Wellness with Zach Fagerberg
We are so excited to welcome Zach Fagerberg on the podcast today! Zach is a wellness coach and mindset mentor who is here to share with us all about wellness. After growing up with a “my body is my hobby” mindset, Zach was able to flip a switch and focus on more well rounded health.
While we tend to just think of nutrients and exercise as the main parts of our physical wellness, there are other areas with the same amount of impact. This thought led Zach to discovering the 4 Pillars of Wellness. These 4 pillars are: physical activity, nutrients, rest, and mindset. Each of these areas are equally important in our overall health and wellbeing.
Topics we cover:
6:07 - The 4 Pillars of Wellness and how to set yourself up for longevity in wellness.
13:25 - While nutrients and physical activity are the most popular pillars, they are not the only necessary ones.
18:28 - Wellness becomes powerful when you have the confidence that comes from working on yourself first.
19:54 - Zach gives amazing pep talks, so he shares with us a quick preview of a Zach pep talk!
It’s important to remember that wellness is a process not an end goal. We will be working on our wellness forever so we shouldn’t make it a short term game. If you play the game infinitely then you’ll win.
