Welcome back to the We Do Grotto, where today’s episode brings festive frustrations, recruitment tips, and some light-hearted laughs.
First up: Wrapping presents – do you DIY or delegate?
🎁 DIY struggles: Sellotape on your knee, lost folds, and wrestling with awkwardly shaped gifts (looking at you, Lush Snow Fairy bottles).
🎁 Top tip: Stick it all in a box – easier to wrap and less stress.
But what about wrapping up interviews that aren’t going well? Here’s our advice for clients:
✨ Be polite and direct. Thank the candidate for their time, explain why the fit isn’t right, and avoid wasting anyone’s time – including yours.
✨ Give people a chance. First impressions matter, but nerves can get in the way. Some candidates may take time to warm up, so don’t rush to cut things short.
✨ Use tools to streamline. Pre-interview video clips from candidates can save time and ensure alignment before the first meeting.
And finally, the ultimate Christmas conundrum: what do you do with carol singers?
🎶 Let them finish? Shut the door? Bribe them to stop? We’ll leave that one up to you.

Christmas Podding: Day 10 – Resignations, Christmas Conundrums, and Awkward Presents 🎄

Welcome back to the We Do Grotto, where today’s episode is packed with festive debates, career advice, and a whole lot of laughter.
First up: What’s harder to navigate – handing in your resignation or surviving Christmas?
Resignations are tough – they’re emotional and can weigh heavily, especially at the end of the year. Our advice:
• Be honest and have the conversation face-to-face (or virtually if needed).
• Keep your resignation letter short, factual, and gracious – leave with the same grace you entered.
• Don’t let challenges fester – communicate and try to resolve issues before making a final decision.
Christmas navigation is no easier! Balancing family visits, traditions, and an ever-growing guest list can be overwhelming. Our tip? Take turns, split the days, or embrace the chaos. After all, Christmas is about making memories – even if they’re messy ones!
And finally, awkward Christmas presents. Whether it’s rewrapping someone’s own belongings or gifting random items from “Stephen,” sometimes the best gifts are the ones that spark confusion and laughter. Who knew fruit bowls and fake names could bring so much joy?

Christmas Podding: Day 13 – Double Lunches, Double Job Offers, and Boxing Day Food 🎄

Welcome back to the We Do Grotto, where today’s festive chat is all about navigating the big decisions – from Christmas lunches to job offers.
🎅 The Double Lunch Dilemma:
• Two Christmas lunches? That’s a hard no for us – one is more than enough, especially with all the nibbles, cheese, and late-night snacks.
• Boxing Day leftovers, though? Absolute heaven. Bubble and squeak, ham, eggs – we’re calling it now: Boxing Day food might actually beat Christmas Day.
🎅 The Double Job Offer Conundrum:
What if you’re faced with two job offers at once? Here’s how to navigate:
• Know your priorities. Why were you looking for a new job in the first place? Flexibility, salary, location – focus on what matters most to you.
• Trust your gut. If one role feels like the better fit, it probably is.
• Don’t feel pressured. Just because you’ve got two offers doesn’t mean you have to choose one. If neither feels right, it’s OK to say no and wait for the right opportunity.
And for those struggling to choose between Heroes, Celebrations, and Quality Streets – just know you’re not alone.
