9. How to overcome childhood conditioning and the trauma of never being good enough
10/23/22 • 29 min
Did you grow up being told that you were not smart enough, not good-looking enough, not hardworking enough, not lovable enough?
How did that affect you?
As a mature adult and now as a parent, do you find yourself sometimes repeating dysfunctional old patterns even though you want something better for yourself and your family?
How do we find healing from past painful memories and experiences, and create a future of hope, love and acceptance for ourselves and future generations?

8. Why "Just be yourself" is unhelpful advice
It's the classic advice we give as parents, friends, colleagues.
"Just be yourself" - the implication being that if we only do that, everything will be fine.
People will like us, love us, approve of us, and maybe even give us what we ask for.
But the deeper question we really want answered is: is it safe for me to just be myself?
What happens when we dare to show up as ourselves - raw, unfiltered, unpolished, imperfect, with our track record of mistakes, dumb decisions, regrettable things we said and did, the things we did that we are now ashamed of?
Can I really just be myself and still be accepted?
Note:
References were made to Mel Robbins' High 5 mirror exercise; Shad Helmsetter's book What To Say When You Talk To Your Self; Marianne Williamson's poem Our Deepest Fear; and the affirmations work of Louise Hay and Florence Scovel Shinn.

10. How to trust yourself, others, and Life
We may know what we're supposed to do to step up in our career, relationships, finances, but what holds us back is a lack of trust.
We don't trust others, we don't trust that problems can be resolved, or that things will work out for the best.
More insidious is that deep down, we don't really trust ourselves.
Maybe we have a pattern of letting ourselves down, giving up too quickly, leaving projects unfinished, saying yes then backing out.
Over time, this undermines our ability to trust ourselves to keep our word.
And if we can't trust ourselves, how can others trust us?
If this is you, listen in for how to reverse the pattern and start trusting yourself - others - and Life.
