160 Being Authentic and Proud with Suzanne Falter
06/10/21 • 52 min
Happy Pride Month, PurposeGirls! To all of you who are out, questioning, and/or closeted, I’m proud of you, and I love you! While many queer people wear their identity with pride, many of us also have had challenging or traumatic experiences connected with our queerness.
Today’s guest on the PurposeGirl Podcast is no stranger to the complicated and the incredibly beautiful sides of being queer. Suzanne Falter is an author and podcaster who helps busy women find happiness through self-care. After losing her 22-year-old daughter, Teal, in 2012, Suzanne’s work has evolved to help busy women learn more about self-care– a lesson she learned in her grief.
And she helps women all over the world actually find the time for self-care, even when it seems impossible. Talk about a Goddess on Purpose, right?
In today’s episode, Suzanne and I talk about:
- Suzanne’s personal coming out story, and her mindset around the process of sharing her truth with her family.
- My bisexuality, and how a painful and abusive experience I had with my first love – a woman – has led me to doing this intimate healing work.
- Suzanne’s writing, examples of her favorite lesbian characters she’s dreamed up, and how she finds inspiration from her own life for her writing.
- The tragic and sudden death of Suzanne’s 22-year-old daughter, Teal, and the impact that Teal’s passing has had on Suzanne’s life – including about the letter Teal wrote her 6 months before she died.
- How my husband, Josh, helped me to feel safe enough to really explore and accept my sexuality.
- Suzanne’s mission and gift for the world.
- The message of pride: being who you ARE.

159 You Are WORTH It, Goddess
If you always find yourself unworthy, then you will always find something more worthy than you. Read that again, sister. If you always find yourself unworthy, then you will always find someone more worthy of your time, money, energy, focus, etc... than you.
And that, sister, won’t fly anymore. Not on my watch.
So many of my clients come to me with a variety of concerns: there’s not enough money, there isn’t enough time, that you’re a bad mom if you do anything for yourself over doing something for your kids, that your partner wouldn’t approve of you going off to do something just for you... and while these are all different outlets, the source of all of them is the same: you feel unworthy.
But sister, you are worthy. MORE than worthy! And in this week’s solo episode of The PurposeGirl Podcast, I’m talking about many of the times where I listened to what my heart was calling for, even when it didn’t make logical sense, and how I ended up with so much more because of it. PLUS! We’re talking about Goddess Getaway MIAMI!
Today, I’ll talk about:
- How investing $7,500 in a coach a few years ago ended up with me booking 10 new clients.
- How – most of the time – if you feel like you can’t afford something you REALLY want, you cannot afford NOT to do it, and why.
- Examples of some of my incredible clients just GOING FOR IT and the benefits they’ve gotten from it!
- How putting yourself first serves all the people around you: partner, children, coworkers, and friends.
- More information about Goddess Getaway MIAMI! Hint hint: we’re almost sold out! I say in this episode there are 12 spots left and since recording we have even less!

161 How to Go Higher
The key to going higher, sister, is not abundance or pleasure or joy. Sure those things are great, but the thing that really gets you higher (and takes all the people around you with you) is gratitude.
And today's episode is the audio from this week's PowerUp with PurposeGirl, a weekly teaching I give on Wednesdays at 2pm EST (at least as of now) in the PurposeGirl Facebook Group (which if you're not a part of, you can join at the links below!).
In this PowerUp with PurposeGirl, I tell you about and share my immense gratitude for all the incredible things that are happening in my life. I savor them. I cry about them. I honor them. And you.
Thank you for helping me to create a life that is greater, more fulfilling, and dreamy delicious juicy good than I could have ever imagined. I love you.
