I get a lot of emails promoting the newest product or technique. I’m sure you have the same thing in your inbox, too. So how do we sort the contenders from the pretenders? I think its common sense to say don’t take everything you hear as gospel. I know I’ve certainly made a few mistakes over the years, but I’ve learned a thing or two. Now don’t get me wrong, there are some really good new things out there. So, how to you tell the difference before you sign up for something? Today, I want to talk more about how you can ask the right questions and look for the right things when vetting the newest techniques, technologies, or procedures.

Today I’m going to talk about something that hit me between the eyes. It doesn’t really matter how old you are – 20, 30, 60, 70 – it can happen anytime in our career. I lost one of my best friends this year and I found that I started feeling old. This is what can happen anytime: you get old, you feel that you’ve reached the pinnacle of your career. So I started thinking about the dentists I know who stay on top: they keep pushing forward, learning new techniques, they’re excited about dentistry. It doesn’t matter what age they are, they stay engaged in their careers and lives – they keep learning, they work out, eat right, go on vacations. So let’s talk more about how to not let the old man in.      

Uncertainty surrounds us, and it’s made even worse by external chatter about market fluctuations, looming elections and everything else that takes your focus away from what’s most important in your life. It’s time to stop paying attention to the noise and spend more time working on what really matters: building trust with your patients, providing exceptional care, and setting and achieving goals.
