Episode-26 - Disruptive Impact- Embracing Your True Self ๐
The Lovable Idiot Podcast: Fired Up
09/07/21 โข 26 min
We hear people talking about being our "authentic self" all the time but what does that really mean? There is no cookie-cutter solution or formula to follow there are just some steps that I recommend taking a look at once you've decided that you are ready to explore! Not everybody will have the same journey or path, but in order to find your authentic self and truly love and appreciate yourself and all your uniqueness, these are some of my suggestions, to help you get started!
Whether you should or shouldn't that is entirely up to you! From my experience it has been hard work and rewarding but just because everybody else is talking about it doesn't necessarily mean it's right for you right now at this moment in time that's only something you can decide for yourself! Hope you find this episode helpful and enjoyable and I'll be back later this week!! ๐
There have been and are lots of posts on LinkedIn including my own about my thoughts and perspective on authenticity but the one I was thinking of in the beginning of this podcast, was from Joe Lalgee https://www.linkedin.com/posts/recruitmentmarketing1_linkedin-personalbranding-activity-6840728523997528064-mWMv

Episode-7-Let's hope Week 2 of 2021 is a little bit better than the first full week!
The Lovable Idiot Podcast: Fired Up
01/11/21 โข 64 min
In this episode I talk about the nonsense of week one in 2021. Amongst other things I successfully avoided the Jeep Dealership this past weekend! I ran for the first time since having my stroke which was a small accomplishment, Although I have no plans on running a marathon anytime soon lol.I talk about a few apps that I really enjoyed the last couple months Calm, Masterclass and Harvard Business Review. Finishing up some books with new ones on deck. On Thursday I came across Laurie Ruettimann, who is new to me and I found out about her shockingly from LinkedIn learning which I was not expecting but I'm already a big fan and have ordered her book which comes out this week. Talked about a few things that annoyed me throughout the week particularly yesterday. I'll be back later this week with much much more. Reminder you can find me on Twitter @LovableIdiotPod and Instagram @lovableidiotpodcast. Please check those out and let's connect!

Episode - 35 - Breaking Through Mediocrity Bull ๐ฉand Plateaus๐๐
The Lovable Idiot Podcast: Fired Up
09/17/22 โข 43 min
In episode 35, We recap the last show a last week and everything in between since episode 34!
Continuing with the broader theme of brain, body, and business and what that all means and entails. This episode we go a little deeper catch up on all things happening brain body and business. A little bit on breathing but really zeroing in on Plateauing and Mediocrity.
Brain- Not too much on brain this week, although I did start talking a little bit about brain science and a new book that I am reading and how complex the brain really is. Still really digging into a user's Guide to the Brain.Body- Of course breathing continues to be a theme, less so in this episode it's really more about optimizing. A little bit on peloton as I approach day 100 next week. Business - chat a bit about what consistency really means because everybody says it over and over but I think there is room for interpretation and a slow growth track towards being consistent and what we do as individuals.
The TL;DR:
- This episode is a lot on Plateauing and Mediocrity and not settling how to kind of break through that bullshit and take back control.
- We all do it and it's good to kind of reassess from time to time in various parts of our lives.
- I think in general there is an awareness we all have about the importance of breathing
- There are little things we can all do to help improve the overall quality of our lives but also our blood flow and circulation
- I briefly mention the power of collaboration especially in business.
- Dysgraphia and is it possible that some thing I might be or have been dealing with unknowingly.
- Ice Barrel, because cold showers are cold enough it's time to step up my game.
All three sections brain body and business are intertwined in this week's episode again, I talk a bit about social media in relation to brain body & business. I bring up something that's been on my mind a lot with the breathing is that because people are so specialized nobody actually specialized and breathing but it's a vital function that gets lost in the medical community.
It's basically a case for filling in gaps between bigger niches there's even a smaller subset sometimes. I touch on cold therapy a little bit and the benefits.
A few books that I've been reading that might be of interest as well related to breathing
- Wim Hof
- The Breathing Cure
- A User's Guide to the Brain
- Behavioral and ps

Episode-5-New Years Eve 2020, A year to remember with a twist!
The Lovable Idiot Podcast: Fired Up
12/31/20 โข 121 min
In episode five we recap the year and the amazingness that was 2020. We talk about everything from family pajama pictures for the holidays, some of the years top Netflix shows/movies. Of course no episode would be complete without books! In the second half of the episode I bring up a long history and struggles with my own addiction. I talk about my teenage years through college, touch on my 20s and even fatherhood and battles and struggles with addiction and alcohol over the last 22 years. I am now 100% sober and have been for over a year each day is a struggle but I try to have an honest and open discussion about my lifelong battle with alcohol. I am sure I did not cover everything but I just try to be open and start a discussion hopefully it helps someone or someone you know. I wanted to shed some light on it because I am sure I am not the only person to ever struggle with something of this nature and I hope that my second chance inspires others to take it seriously because it almost cost me my life and I am lucky that it did not. Please share this episode with other people I do mention to reach out for help if you or someone you know is struggling. It was by no means the greatest year in history but I am hopeful about the future and I hope you are as well!

Episode-17-Potentially a Podcast Pivot? Let's Discuss How We Can All Be Better Allies For All
The Lovable Idiot Podcast: Fired Up
03/28/21 โข 61 min
In Episode 17 I talk about all things in the world of Will for the last week. Although not 100% on target I think as a podcast evolves I am going to try to go a little bit more in depth on topics each week. Along with recapping the week, This week I discuss a topic that has come up a lot recently in my world. I feel very strongly and deeply about not only speaking up in the workplace, but in everyday life as well. I am well aware of who I am and my background and upbringing and there is nothing I can do to change that except for use who I am to help others in a positive and impactful way. I am sure there are better words to use but as always I am learning and really deeply passionate about serving under-represented and often overlooked Individuals from all walks of life. I don't know the best way to always help but I am definitely on a journey and committed to not only helping when appropriate/needed/wanted etc. but I am definitely listening and always looking to learn! Episode-16-It's Officially Spring! Why not kick it off with some hard but productive conversations?
The Lovable Idiot Podcast: Fired Up
03/20/21 โข 73 min
In Episode 16 I talk about all things in the world of Will for the last week. It is also the one year anniversary from coming out of inpatient rehab! I talk a little bit about the progress that I've made and the progress that I hope to continue to make on my journey! Lots of book recommendations this week the latest in Clubhouse, And just generally touching on a variety of subjects and things going on in my life with family kids and work! Also hard conversations are just that. They aren't "fun" they can sometimes be difficult, however they are also necessary for progress and to help one another be better, be accountable to one another! The goal with difficult conversations is so that we can all grow and learn on our journeys. I think I mentioned a ton of books but I will just stay here in the notes my top five of the week (In no particular order):
- Untamed by Glennon Doyle
- Agile Conversations: Transform Your Conversations, Transform Your Culture by Douglas Squirrel and Jeffrey Fredrick
- Turn the Ship Around!: A True Story of Turning Followers into Leaders
by L. David Marquet and Stephen R. Covey - The Coaching Habit: Say Less, Ask More & Change the Way You Lead Forever
by Michael Bungay Stanier - Just Work: Get Sh*t Done, Fast & Fair Kindle Edition by Kim Scott (Author)

Episode-15- International Women's Day, Let's Celebrate and Support all Women Collectively!
The Lovable Idiot Podcast: Fired Up
03/13/21 โข 89 min
In Episode 15 I talk about all things in the world of Will for the last week. In the spirit of last Monday being International Women's Day I did want to bring attention and shine a light on all the important women who have played significant roles in my life and shaping the man and husband and father that I become and continue to strive to be as I Grow in all those aspects of my life. I think empowering women and trying to figure out how I can help support is something I really want to explore further I'm not exactly sure what that looks like how I can be most helpful and impactful but it is definitely something I am interested in for a whole ton of reasons! That's probably a lot to do with my upbringing and having a strong mother and strong sisters and an amazing wife and daughter so I want to be a role model for my younger boys so that they can also learn and grow to be amazing young men, While supporting their friends and the women in their lives. I know that's a lot of rambling but I really just always feel inspired by the women in my life so I want to get back in anyway I can. I have of course a bunch of books this week but I would say a really good one for everyone to check out is the moment of lift by Melinda Gates. Also in the podcast world I would definitely check out Brenรฉ Brown's Dare to Lead, Episode two of a two part series with Dr. Susan David is really excellent I highly recommend it please check it out as well!
