The Flexible Neurotic

Join me, Dr. Sarah Milken, in an honest conversation about reimagining your health and food mindset from the inside out. We are digging deep with my incredible friend & guest, Pamela Salzman. Get your golden shit shovels ready as we uncover the golden nuggets and secret sauce to help you take control of your kitchen. She gives us a TON of actionable items to start living more flexibly and creatively TODAY...helping us find our sweet spots between neurotic and chill with family meal prep.

In this episode, we talk about how Pamela’s immigrant Italian parents helped shape her love for cooking and health and spending time in the kitchen which ultimately lead her to the career that she has today.

We dive deep into Pamala Salzman’s life and the first steps that she took in her second half of her life, to build the Pamela Salzman platform and holistic counselor role. We dig deep into our personal fears of stepping out...having the courage to say “yes” faster to new opportunities.

Pamela hones in on specific ideas, hacks and tools to simplify and speed up our time in the kitchen and teaches us how to fall in love with cooking... or at least fake it...with just starting to make one meal a week.

She gives us incredible tips and tricks on how to lead a healthy life starting with what ingredients you can get rid of today...how to organize our kitchens... and how to take the cooking plunge.

She is a professional at well designed meal prep and planning...organizing a dinner schedule with spouses and picky kids... and gives us the tools for a drama free kitchen.

We’re going to apply a creativity and flexibility mindset to the kitchen, meal prep and drama. This is not a typical podcast interview with a chef who gives us recipes, but a toolbox full of tips and tricks on how to find that sweet spot between chaotic and chill in the kitchen.

Some highlights:

  • What foods make you feel good
  • How to start cooking for the first time
  • Grocery store tips and tricks
  • How Pamela approaches eating and diets
  • How to organize your meal plans
  • How to reduce the drama in the kitchen
  • How to properly stock your pantry
  • The importance of a well balanced diet
  • Everything you need to know about olive oil...deep dive
  • How Pamela first started on her journey, so you can start too
  • All of Pamela’s favorite cooking essentials

  • Optimal microbiome health...try to add a diversity of vegetables and food in your diet...think rainbow foods
  • Create a meal system that works for you

  • Even if you’re nervous, do it anyways

01 | Recreating Yourself In The Second Half of Life with Angella Nazarian

Join me, Dr. Sarah Milken, in an honest and open conversation about recreating yourself in the second half of life with my role model and friend, Angella Nazarian. Get your golden shit shovels ready as we uncover the golden nuggets and secret sauce to being a visionary woman. She gives us a TON of actionable items to start living more flexibly and creatively TODAY and will help us find our sweet spots between neurotic and chill.

Angella gives us a look into her life as an immigrant from Iran, how that “outsider status” shaped her relationship with those around her, and how it taught her to care less about what people think about you and to become a self-sufficient and independent woman. She teaches us how to create a group of visionary women around ourselves to help us achieve maximum greatness. She emphasizes the importance of focusing on our strengths and creating the greatest version of ourselves.... without getting stuck on our weaknesses. However, the most important lesson she teaches us is the steps to take to actually getting our shit together today... and start living our best lives with some of her favorite and life-changing books (you MUST read these!)

03 | Finding Identity & Purpose with Spiritual Astrology with Danielle Beinstein

Join me, Dr. Sarah Milken, in a rad conversation about discovering your identity and authentic self with spiritual astrologer, Dani Beinstein. Get your golden shit shovels ready as we uncover the golden nuggets and secret sauce to discover who you truly are by using your birth date, time, and location.

Dani gives us many tools to help us in our path of uncovering our true selves and finding that sweet spot between chaotic and chill. She gives us a TON of actionable items to use astrology to start taking small steps...to living more flexibly and creatively TODAY.

In this episode, Dani teaches us all about an entire world I never even knew about - spiritual astrology. I know horoscopes in the back of a magazine. She reads my natal chart...which I learned is a snapshot of the sky the moment you are born - which allows her to see every aspect of my motivations, personality and desires...deep dive.

Dani talks us through what each aspect of your natal chart means, and how everyone else can apply it to their own lives. She stresses the importance of meditation and learning to live more thoughtfully and explains the act of surrender. • The true meaning of authenticity
  • The importance of renegotiations with ones self
  • The meaning of every aspect of our natal chart
  • Sarah’s very own personal reading
  • How to be in charge of your own perception of every situation
  • How to take advantage of the full moon period

Dani gives us a gold rush of golden nuggets (actionable steps), but some of my faves were:

  • Notice your feelings and thoughts
  • Constantly renegotiate
  • Surrender
  • Find your authenticity
  • Meditate
