The Power of Scent with Leigh Winters
The Culinary Boss Podcast
12/03/19 • 46 min
The best experiential events engage ALL five senses, but more often than not, a few of these senses are neglected. Can you guess which ones?
Well, what if I told you that you might just be ignoring the most POWERFUL sense of them all?
Today we’re talking with neuroscientist Leigh Winters to learn all about the power of scent and why it just might be the most important sense for your experience.
Not only is Leigh a neuroscientist but she’s also a natural beauty expert, certified aromatherapist, and founder of her own line, Leigh Winters Beauty.
I’ve gotten to know Leigh through our events in San Francisco and actually worked with her on an aromatherapy meditation for a brand activation we designed and produced. Needless to say, Leigh knows her stuff and I couldn’t help but want to pick her brain about scent as it relates to experience.
Get ready for a little bit of science and a whole lot of inspiration to make your events more impactful and memorable through the use of scent.

Demystifying Wine and Breaking Stereotypes Along the Way with Cristie Norman
The Culinary Boss Podcast
03/02/21 • 49 min
Imagine you're at one of the most upscale restaurants in Beverly Hills. You want to order a glass of wine and the sommelier walks over. Who do you picture showing up to your table?
You’re probably not picturing a 26-year old Asian woman recommending the best wine to pair with your meal. Unfortunately, the world of wine still has a long way to go when it comes to sommelier diversity.
That’s exactly the reality that today's guest has found herself in throughout her incredible journey of becoming a force to be reckoned with in the wine industry.
In this episode, I have the pleasure of interviewing Cristie Norman, a Certified Sommelier and Wine Enthusiast's 2020 Educator of the Year. She started her professional wine journey at the young age of 19 (yes, you read that right!) and is all about shattering glass ceilings in the traditional wine world.
Even more impressive is how Cristie has created opportunities for herself and others during the pandemic. Her innovative thinking and can-do attitude has served her peers greatly during these dire times.
Cristie’s story is a stellar example of how you can use your passion to bring a community together. I truly hope her story will inspire you to see the opportunities in front of you and create something of your own. You just might be able to help others like you along the way.
