Sky King's Mental Playground (FREE VERSION)

Welcome to the Sky King’s Mental Playground Polkadot, Kusama, Web3, & NFT edition. I am releasing public episodes from Sky King’s Mental Playground private feed because I am on a quest to find a technical co-founder. We are building a new business model of media, and we need those who want to realize the vision of Web3 to join us on this journey. If this tickles your curiosity, learn more here: https://bit.ly/SKMPOFS

Momin is a creative force to be reckoned with. He is a connector, an operator, a musician, and a really fun dude. I wanted him on this podcast to understand how you go from no coding to writing smart contracts in three months, why on earth he decided to create a music festival in fuck-all Texas, and more insight into how we should raise money for Stoa.

Favorite quotes and ideas from the podcast.

"How to go from No-code to writing smart contracts in 3 months."

  1. Have a strong "why." Look, it's a fucking cliche, but it's also true like many. Mo saw that software was eating the world. He knew he didn't want to be an appetizer, so he set out to learn more.
  2. Find your Yoda - Mo met his co-founder Neil who showed him what was possible when combining creativity and coding. Neil also offered up a challenge CTND
  3. Mo realized that he wanted to build something with Neil. To join, Neil said, go write a smart contract.
  4. Mo now had a deep why and a challenge to overcome. But, like any hero on a journey, the story was beginning.
  5. He took a three-month coding boot-camp course that taught him a bunch of useless stuff, but the valuable thing it gave him was an understanding of logic.
  6. Use the terminal - try and do everything you normally do, but from the terminal.
  7. Find a problem you want to solve and solve it.

"How to understand risk as we move into a more volatile world."

"In crypto, you need to adjust your mindset. First, you have to look at the worst thing that can happen. Then, multiply it by ten and assume that it will happen 4x per year."

"Smart people with data, make smart decisions" - Mo.

"People don't understand how difficult it is to translate data off the blockchain. Understanding, consuming, and processing data from the blockchain is not as easy as it sounds because you have to rely on a human being to translate it for you before consuming it. That's why we're making Credmark. The way we solve it is open source.

"Understanding money gives you an understanding of human behavior" - Mo.

We did a unique art piece for this launch collaborating with EMA-1 and JesseArt. I think it turned out great. If you want to own this fantastic 1 of 1 or any of our pieces, head to our collection on RMRK. Jesse crushed this. Check out the rest of his work and their project. I am too excited for all of y'all to listen to this episode with Charles Smith. Charles is the CEO and co-founder of Nifty Island, an open, social game world powered by web3. He is a big-brained mother fucker who has built something spectacular in a crazy amount of time. I look up to him and his team's ability to produce, think incredibly long-term, balance with riding the current wave, realize the opportunity that Web3 presents, and build from first principles. If you want to understand gaming, Web3, the metaverse, building a company in crypto, raising funds, and just being an all-around legend, Charles is your dude. Enjoy! Please follow Charles and Nifty Island on Twitter, head to their website, and join the discord.
