Loon plays the role of Earth-Diver in some Native American tribes The Loon is a solitary bird of the wilderness that symbolizes tranquility, serenity and the reawakening of old hopes, wishes and dreams. Whatever name you call him by in any language. The call of the loon is a trademark of our lakes, in northwestern Ontario the loon's voice can be heard echoing across the water on warm summer evenings, and his haunting wail as he calls to his family, listening to his song, I can see why he was the inspiration for the Native American people’s flutes long ago. A new year begins, with promise, resolutions, plans for new beginnings changes and hope for the new year.

A calming space... where you can listen to some of the greatest poets,

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.

Serenitypoetry - 7: "The Path" Serenitypoetry
play

11/17/22 • 14 min

Beyond here there is no map... fairy paths connected the various places fairies were believed to haunt. The belief in fairy paths in Ireland was so strong that people who suffered from illness or misfortune, were said to live in the way of fairy paths. The Inuksuk is a symbol with deep roots in the Inuit culture, a directional marker that signify safety, hope, and friendship. Let's head out down the path together dear listener, and as Philip Booth, so poetically said; Many paths will intersect our journey along the way.... perhaps an Inuksuk will help guide our way, however; let's be sure to steer clear of any fairy paths along the way, just to be safe..... This episode was edited and produced by https://ko-fi.com/doggedid?fbclid=PAAabdmuFm0WqTawvieCdeYelN4OzQdsbDIVLdnGXrtcHTWQXe015qC_7t1XA This episode includes poetry by Philip Booth, his publicly posted poem Heading Out can be found at https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poetrymagazine/browse?contentId=37416 A full biography on Philip Booth can be found at https://poets.org/poet/philip-booth The information for the Inuksuk was found at https://ca.paganfederation.org/the-history-and-meaning-of-the-inuksuk/ For more information on everything Serenitypoetry follow https://linktr.ee/Serenitypoetry?utm_source=linktree_profile_share

Serenitypoetry - 8: "And in the Winter" Serenitypoetry
play

12/01/22 • 15 min

On A cold winters night would you run for your life, from the howling wolves of winter... Few animals capture people’s imagination quite like the wolf. For thousands of years, the wolf has fascinated us, frightened us, and drawn us in. Perhaps it’s because there’s a part of us that identifies with that wild, untamed spirit we see in the wolf. The wolf has found its roots in folklore in myths, legends and creation stories from the Indigenous peoples of North American, all the way back to the founding of Roman Civilization.
