The Hallmark Calendar is telling us that Sunday is Mother's Day. It's time to take our guilt and cram all the love and attention we haven't given her over the past 364 into this one day.
I kid, but as we grow up we don't celebrate our moms enough. We are too busy seeing her as Wonder Woman with a Lightsaber. There is no way this super hero would need anything form us to be the amazing person she is. Then we get older and we come to realize that she is just a human, like us. She needs love and appreciation every day, not just one day a year.
Mike and are talking about all the things and gearing up to spend the weekend celebrating our moms because we are lucky enough to have both of them.

Our "little" boy is turning 25 this TO-DAY. I remember when I was turning 25 - I had so many expectations about my life and thoughts of how life would be. And those expectations crashed, but then turned into things so amazing that I never could have dreamed of.
It's easy to put so much pressure on yourself to have it all figured out, but the universe is freaking laughing at you. Just sit back and enjoy the ride. You never know what is going to be around the next corner.
A shout out to my birthday sweet boy - Ian Houston McShane - born 5pm on June 17, 1997. We never knew what hit us. But we did the best we could. He turned out pretty okay.

"DOMS" or Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness is the result of physical activity that stresses the muscle tissue beyond what it is accustomed to. Small microscopic tears occur in the muscle. But it is completely normal and nothing to worry about. In fact, it's needed for muscle growth, since muscle is built back stronger during the muscle repair process.

There are so many takeaways from this podcast and I encourage you to listen for your "nuggets", but Julie's biggest piece of advice for women over 50 who are determined to become more social is this: Make yourself accountable to other people to force yourself to be more social because being social is the #1 factor for maintaining your cognitive skills as you get older. So make it a priority. Schedule meet ups. Encourage conversation.

In this week's solo The New Old You, Lesley takes a dive into 7 ways to fuel your motivation with inspiration. Reaching and achieving goals is not an overnight endeavor, it may take weeks, months, years and you'll need soul stirring inspiration to sustain the motivational emotion to get there.
Inspiration is all around, but is much easier to find when you know where to look. Today we focus these seven tips to find it:
1. Making a solid rock hard decision on what you are going to do. Know it, own it, guard it.
2. Don't focus what you do want, focus on what you don't want.
3. Surrounding yourself with proof of "Yes I can!".
4. Surrounding yourself with the inspirational stories of others.
5. Developing good habits that will move you step by step closer toward your goal - starting with the habit of focused self-care.
6. Finding purpose and inspiration by giving back to others.
7. Finding someone who will support you.

Goal Setting can be extremely overwhelming if you don't have the right techniques in place to help you create a good plan. It all starts with your foundational beliefs and if you don't know what those are, then you will struggle to reach any goal.
Cheryl Hart is back on the podcast today to talk to us about some Goal Setting Techniques to make sure that we start goal setting in a successful way so that we have all reasons to believe that we will reach those goals.
We'll talk about:
1. First, Take time for introspection. It is foundational to goal-setting. Sit and be quiet and write out your top 5 values and priorities in life and why.
2. Ask yourself these Foundational questions:
Who has influenced me the most in my life?
How would I like to be remembered?
Who are the people in my life that I admire the most and what qualities do they have?
When I’m at my best what - fill in the blank?
3. Write a mission statement for your life. Set how you want to be remembered and work back from there in making decisions. Do your goals align with what you think your values are?
4. If the WHY of your goal is big enough then your purpose will be fulfilled. Vague goals produce Vague results.
5. The number one way to boost your confidence is to recall our past success. And if you are constantly comparing yourself to others and nothing is ever good enough, then we have nothing to draw from. Don’t let your ego of comparison get in the way.
6. Set goals by using the SMARTS system: Make your goals
- Specific
- Measureable
- Action-oriented
- Realistic
- Timely
- Self-determined
7. Set your A goal (End), B goal (Halfway point), C goal (Short Term goals), Daily intentions and incremental steps to help you get to each point.
8. Remember that EVERYONE, even people who seem to always reach their goals has failed, experienced downtimes and dips, but they get back up. You have to practice being resilient.
9. Reaching a goal is a personal journey. Your goal is just that. YOUR goal.
10. At the beginning write down 5 obstacles that you may come up against and then a corresponding strategy to offset that obstacle
11. Find accountability partners - someone or someones who can help you overcome your obstacles. A network of supporters. And then let them know what they can do to best support you.
12. Have a new goal on the back burner so that when you have accomplished a goal you don’t have “let down”, you move onto the next thing. But be sure to pause and reflect. And celebrate how far you’ve come.

Tracy joins us today to share her athletic history and how she got into competitive cycling at age 40. She shares stories on some of her greatest wins and how she has overcome some of her greatest injuries.
Together we share some racing moments and how we feel in the cycling group as women over 50 and over 60.
We talk about how being an athlete isn't about being young, but that you can start at any age and we encourage all women in general to get on a bicycle.
