Missions to Movements

I'd love to hear from you! Send me a text message here and let me know what you thought about the episode. :)

Gloria Umanah created a movement when she founded Hope Booth – shifting from dynamic event planning, to providing a beacon of hope to those facing loneliness during the 2020 pandemic.
The Hope Booth remodels old telephone booths and provides individuals an innovative, interactive, and immersive experience to encounter hope, affirm their dignity, and serve as a connection point to finding local help and support for all of humanity; from the individual living on the streets to the CEO of a fortune 500.
In this episode of Missions to Movements, Gloria shares this incredible journey of how she generated buzzworthy success with a line of people waiting to experience the Hope Booth at South by Southwest (SXSW).
You’ll also hear all about Hope Booth's physical installation and the global movement she’s creating through their monthly giving program. The Ponce City Market installation in Atlanta is just the beginning. The first installation has had more than 41,000 people experience the Hope Booth, with a 77% completion rate!
When it comes to supporting mental health, action speaks louder than words. Gloria emphasizes the impact of community involvement, whether through getting access to decision-makers, donations, or amplifying their digital voice.
As a monthly supporter of the Hope Booth myself, I invite you to not just absorb the beautiful stories and strategies shared today, but to join us in their mission of hope, solidarity, and connection.

How can earned media create viral moments and drive impact?
Today, we’re dissecting the evolution of earned media and how to measure success in the digital realm, especially for nonprofits.
And there’s no one better to team up with for this conversation than Joe Quenqua, one of the most creative and brilliant communication professionals that I know!
This episode is a revelation of what viral marketing moments mean and can look like in 2024.
We analyze case studies featuring the Muppets, QVC, and the Weight Watchers' Kurbo app, and how $0 in marketing spend can lead to a media frenzy.
We also underscore the vital role of a Chief Communications Officer in any organization, and how as a fractional CCO, Joe averts potential crises, plus his favorite communication strategies when working closely with different leadership teams.
By the end of this episode, you'll walk away with insights and strategies that will transform your mission-driven communication efforts.

What Does a Community-First Marketing Approach Look Like with Andi Kay

I'd love to hear from you! Send me a text message here and let me know what you thought about the episode. :)

The research is jarring. We spend upwards of five to seven hours a day on social media. But when women leave Instagram and TikTok, they generally feel worse about themselves.
Imagine a world where scrolling online leaves you invigorated, rather than caught in a comparison trap. Andi Kay's foundation is on a mission to craft just that.
Bloom Foundation is a nonprofit dedicated to helping girls build emotional resilience in a supportive community container. You scroll, but you leave feeling better.
In this episode, Andi and I unravel the complexities of social media and mental health. Plus, Andi shares how she’s structured an empowering, community-first approach on Circle, leveraging curated journal prompts, ambassadors, and journal clubs in a safe space.
Tune in for an exploration of what it means to nurture connections and equip young women with leadership and healing tools. We're inviting you to witness the transformative power of a supportive sisterhood!
