Today's episode is all about understanding a fundamental principle for success in marketing, and anything else for that matter. You see, trying something once, and saying it doesn't work simply isn't a good strategy.
As with most things in life you need to consistently show up. Doing something, again and again, to make sure that it has a fair chance of actually getting some results. And then, and this is the really hard part for most of us, you need patience.
Guess what? It's not going to happen overnight. There are no overnight success stories that don't start with years of effort and hard work. At least none that I know of.
And all of this was inspired by a recent article I read by Seth Godin titled Chasing The Cool Kids.

Today's episode is taken from The Social INK Show. James O'Donnell, Commercial Director and Chris Bruno, CEO, are talking about only working with people that bring you joy. Sounds like a simple concept and in reality, it is.
We've realised something this year, especially this year in fact. Life is short, and the vast majority of it is spent working and sleeping. Right now, with lockdowns and restrictions, we're doing less than ever before. So it's becoming more and more apparent that it's imperative to work with people that bring you joy.
What do we mean by that? Well, life's too short and we spend too many hours working to work with a team or a boss that makes us miserable. As entrepreneurs, we spend WAY too much time working to be doing it for clients that don't make us smile. And what about that supplier that we think is crucial to our business' success? You can replace them too.
You see, toxic relationships, in any aspect of our life, are just NOT WORTH IT. It's time to see the value in who you are and what you do. Take control of one part of your life that takes up about a third of your life. YES, a third. On average we'll each work 90,000 hours. Only other thing that matches that? Our sleep!
So, remember, it's time to only work with people that bring you joy!

Today's episode is all about the concept of "2 weeks ahead is good for your head". We never want to be rushing around and desperately trying to create content. This is a big No. When content is done quickly at the last minute, it usually has mistakes or other issues. It won't be thought out properly and is not actually going to take us towards our objectives.

Think about the effect on you, your brand, and most importantly, your audience.

Another issue is when you go on to a business's social media page and try to find information and notice that they haven't posted for a month or more. This creates confusion, especially now with everything that's happened over the last year with a lot of businesses, unfortunately, having closed. It doesn't look good for the business.

To make sure that we're never on the back-foot we like to plan to be 2 weeks ahead. That's going to help your brand get recognised. When people see your content they will form links to your business and know what you're about. That is the key.

That's why we should be posting consistently. By planning and always being two weeks ahead, you take away the pressure for you and the chance that your audience will forget who you are.

Having that baseline content and adding on top of that is going to be far more powerful than having no content planned and trying to add things on the day. How planned is your content? Let us know.

This episode is very different from my normal conversation about Digital Marketing, but nonetheless I think there is value in every conversation we have these days. Nicole Russin-McFarland is a film score composer and director based in Los Angeles.
She's created more content and tried more channels than most. What makes her stand out is her clarity in terms of her drive towards the clear goals she's set for herself.
The episode takes some big tangents and we go down some deep rabbit holes, but I think everyone can find something to take away from this. Whether it be what life in Hollywood is really like, or putting out content on various channels to see what really works.
