08/06/18 • 38 min

Mark Metry Show
Dr. Don Vaughn is an academic neuroscientist, futurist, international public speaker, and consultant. His foci include neuroscience, human behavior, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.
Since graduating from Stanford, Dr. Vaughn’s research has been featured in TIME magazine, profiled by Cadillac, and received over a million views in his TEDx talk “neurohacking: rewiring your brain”. He has been an opinion leader for a wide range of news outlets from The Wall Street Journal to NBC News.
Dr. Vaughn is adjunct faculty at Santa Clara University where he teaches neuroscience and a postdoctoral fellow at UCLA where he leads a workshop on modern statistics. Don promotes engaging and accessible science.
Neurohacking is the colloquial term for (usually personal or 'DIY') neuroengineering. It is a form of biohacking (qv) focusing on the brain and CNS. Strictly speaking it is any method of manipulating or interfering with the structure and/or function of neurons for improvement or repair.
Artificial Intelligence is the theory and development of computer systems able to perform tasks that normally require human intelligence, such as visual perception, speech recognition, decision-making, and translation between languages.

FLOW #38 - 13 Tips for Hosting a Top Charts Podcast

You're listening to the 38th episode of the Humans 2.0 podcast, solo-series, FLOW! Today's episode is on what I've learned over the past months that led me to host a top charts podcast.
1. Unless you are talented and have mentors, don’t expect anyone to listen for the next 6-18 months.
2. Embrace intellectual humility and admit when you are wrong / don’t know what you’re talking about.
3. Don’t equate your self-worth with the number of downloads your podcast has.
4. If somebody asks to be on your show, connect with them via a call first and make sure it’s a right fit. Don't be afraid to say NO!
5. Video interviews are much better for human to human contact and putting up on YouTube and promoting after.
6. Listen from the perspective of your audience.
7. Before the Interview, tell the guest this is not live and can be edited after.
8. After the interview ask your guest who would be a good fit for this podcast.
9. Heavily research your guest and establish a chronological timeline.
10. Success is ALWAYS in the Follow-up (99% of people don’t do)
11. Treat your guests like normal human beings (high-profile guests)
12. Don’t invite a guest just to get them on your show for the name (cross-name ranking)
13. It takes time and effort to build the podcast of your dreams....that’s why most people quit.
I get messages every day from individuals and companies asking me for advice and to consult their podcasting ventures! Hope this helps :)
