Halfway To Dead, A Midlife Spiritual Journey

Halfway To Dead, A Midlife Spiritual Journey

Jen Lovell

Let’s have a moment of real talk. Life is fucking hard. You and I didn’t get to midlife without hitting a few bumps in the road. Sure, on the surface your life seems pretty great. You’ve accomplished some amazing things. But dig a little deeper and we’ve been through some shit. I’m talking big T traumas. We armored up and battled through...it’s worked for us...until now. Now, you and I have reached the age where we are done with all the bullshit. Time feels more precious and we have the wisdom to know we aren’t going to live forever. That’s OK because you and I plan on finishing this life strong. Midlife is our chance to flip the script and experience life on our terms. It’s time to reconnect with our highest selves and reclaim our inner peace. A spiritual journey or a spiritual awakening isn’t about religion. It’s about connecting with yourself and your higher power directly. It’s not just about the woo-woo stuff either. Don’t get me wrong, we are going to explore all things woo-woo...like tapping into our intuition, meditation, manifesting, how to connect with your spirit team, human design, reiki, past lives and so much more. For you and I, it also means figuring out how to love and care for our aging bodies. Plus, it’s time for us to break free from the bubble we've been living in and open our hearts and minds to the world around us. We can change things for the better as a collective. Basically, it’s time for us to become better fucking people. When we know better, we can do better. Every person’s journey is unique. You may have no idea what your spiritual journey is going to look like. That’s OK, we’re going to figure this out together. We’ll laugh, we’ll cry, and we’ll use too much profanity. That’s just how we roll. Are you ready? Awesome. Hop in and ride shotgun with me as we transform and grow through enlightened conversations, practical tips, and inspiring stories. It’s time to embark on this midlife spiritual journey together!

Halfway To Dead, A Midlife Spiritual Journey - E49 -Burnout Cure: Reclaim Your Energy and Thrive with Cindy Meckler
play

05/14/25 • 63 min

Are you caught in a cycle of endless hustle, feeling disconnected from yourself and struggling to remember why you started your business in the first place? You're not alone. The burnout epidemic is hitting midlife women particularly hard, but energy expert Cindy "Cin" Meckler offers a revolutionary approach to breaking free.
In this transformative conversation, Cin shares her personal journey from medication-dependent burnout to becoming a multidimensional energetics expert who helps women leaders reconnect with their body's innate wisdom. She reveals the subtle, often missed signals your body sends when you're approaching burnout—like mental fog, emotional sensitivity, and that feeling of being completely checked out during conversations. These aren't just annoyances; they're your nervous system screaming for attention.
The beauty of Cin's approach lies in its practicality. Her Three-Breath Reset technique can provide immediate relief in the midst of chaos, while her insights on breaking technology addiction and setting boundaries offer sustainable solutions for the long term.

For women entrepreneurs, Cin challenges the belief that success requires constant availability and hustle. By tapping into your intuition rather than following someone else's blueprint, you can create a business and a life that thrives with less effort. Those transition periods when clients seem to fall away? They're not failures—they're making space for aligned opportunities that match your evolving energy.
Whether you're battling burnout, seeking to reconnect with your intuition, or simply curious about how energy work intersects with business strategy, this episode offers practical wisdom for reclaiming your vitality. Because as Cin beautifully reminds us, "It takes courage to open the door to a new version of yourself, but time is all you have. It's okay to reinvent yourself over and over—that's what you're here to do."

Cindy Meckler is a Mind-Body-Spirit Energetics expert, modern psychic, and speaker who’s helped over 200 business owners move past frustration and stuckness by reconnecting to their body’s wisdom. Cindy helps you clear the noise, trust your gut, and grow a business that’s as powerful and authentic as you are. Halfway To Dead, A Midlife Spiritual Journey - E47 -Midlife: Crisis or Transformation? with Keri Mangis

E47 -Midlife: Crisis or Transformation? with Keri Mangis

Halfway To Dead, A Midlife Spiritual Journey

play

04/23/25 • 70 min

What if midlife isn't a crisis at all, but a powerful opportunity for transformation? In this illuminating conversation, author and spiritual teacher Keri Mangis challenges us to flip the script on everything we thought we knew about this pivotal life stage.
Keri shares her extraordinary journey through breakdown to breakthrough, including a raw, vulnerable moment when years of suppressed emotions finally erupted in a primal scream that changed everything. She explains how women especially are conditioned to "keep the peace" at the expense of our authentic selves, storing trauma in our bodies until we finally create space for healing.
We explore the concept of the "liminal stage" – that messy, uncomfortable middle place between who we were and who we're becoming. Unlike Western culture, which provides little guidance for these in-between times, Keri offers practical wisdom for navigating these transformative spaces with grace and purpose.
From her solo pilgrimage to Myanmar that forever changed her relationship with identity, to her insights about releasing societal "shoulds" and reclaiming our authentic voice, Keri provides a roadmap for anyone feeling stuck, disillusioned, or ready for profound change. She reminds us that our purpose isn't some external achievement but authenticity itself – living true to our values regardless of whether it fits neatly into societal expectations.
Whether you're in the throes of midlife transformation or simply questioning the path you're on, this conversation offers compassionate guidance for breaking free from limitations, embracing uncertainty, and finally living life on your own terms.

Keri Mangis is more than just an author and speaker—she’s a guide for those seeking deeper meaning and transformation in a chaotic world. With over 20 years of experience as a wholeness advocate and spiritual teacher, Keri understands the frustration of feeling stuck and disconnected. Through her writing and teachings, Keri helps people break free from limiting beliefs to rediscover their true essence and align with their core values.

Her spiritual and personal growth studies and certifications have run the gamut over the years from yoga, Ayurveda, energy work, and meditation. Most recently, she has taken on studying Alchemy, Jungian Psychology, archetypes, and rites of passage. She has completed courses with Sharon Blackie, Michael Meade, and the Center of Applied Jungian Studies.

She is a current writer for Spirituality and Health Magazine, and a top 50 writer at Elephant Journal. Her first book, Embodying Soul: A Return to Wholeness, received multiple awards, including the 2020 IPA award for Mind, Body & Spirit and the 2020 Readers’ Favorite Gold Medal in Non-Fiction Spiritual and Supernatural. She is currently working on her second book, an illuminating exploration of personal and collective transformation that will empower readers to evolve their consciousness for an uncertain future.

When a podcast interview goes terribly wrong, it becomes the perfect opportunity to get crystal clear about what truly matters on our spiritual journey. In this unexpected solo episode, I share the raw, real experience of having to stop an interview and dismiss a guest who revealed deeply problematic views that conflicted with everything my podcast stands for.
This challenging moment prompted me to pull back the curtain on my own spiritual evolution – from growing up between two different Christian denominations to teaching Sunday school, and eventually finding a more authentic spiritual path that transcends religious limitations. With complete transparency, I share my current spiritual beliefs: that we're all connected through divine oneness, that judgment and marginalization have no place in spiritual growth, and that authentic living is our true purpose.
What makes this spiritual awakening in midlife so liberating? For me, it's the absolute freedom from fear – especially fear of death. I explore why I no longer believe in hell, how I view Jesus as an ascended master while leaving behind religious dogma, and why I'm actually excited about eventually returning to divine love (though I'm in no rush!). This journey has taught me that setting clear boundaries with people whose paths don't align with mine isn't just acceptable – it's essential for spiritual growth.
Whether you're questioning your religious upbringing, feeling drawn to explore spirituality beyond doctrine, or simply trying to live more authentically, this episode offers permission to trust your intuition and honor your unique spiritual journey. Join me for this unfiltered conversation about standing firm in your truth, even when it means walking away from situations that don't serve your highest good. Ready to reclaim your spiritual journey on your own terms?

Halfway To Dead, A Midlife Spiritual Journey - Episode 15 -•Becoming a CASA; How YOU Can Support Abused Children in the Foster Care System
play

09/11/24 • 66 min

In this episode of the Halfway to Dead podcast, host Jen Lovell discusses the importance of supporting children who have suffered abuse and neglect and are in the foster care system. She interviews Kristen Jackson, the Executive Director of the Child Network, who explains two programs: the Children's Advocacy Center (CAC) and the Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) program. The CAC provides forensic interviews for children who have been abused, while CASA volunteers advocate for the best interests of children in foster care. The episode emphasizes the need for community support and collaboration to ensure the well-being of these children. The conversation highlights the need for CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) volunteers in the foster care system. Currently, only about 50% of the children in the CASA program have a volunteer, and nationwide there are approximately 400,000 children waiting for a CASA worker. The conversation emphasizes the importance of CASA volunteers in providing support and advocacy for children in the system, ensuring their needs are met and their voices are heard. It also discusses other ways to support these programs even if you are unable to become a CASA... such as donating, volunteering for fundraising events, and voting for the right politicians and judges in your local area that support and prioritize funding for CAC and CASA programs.
About Our Guest
Kristin Jackson has served as the Executive Director of Child Network since 2011. She first joined Child Network in 2005 as the Family Advocate for the Children’s Advocacy Center and then transitioned to the CAC’s Forensic Interviewer in 2007.
