How To Have a Hot Girl Winter
Growth and Goals Podcast
11/20/23 • 20 min
We've all heard of hot girl summer, but lets carry that same energy into every season! I don't know about you but winter is my least favorite time of year. With the days being so short, everything being so dead and dreary outside and it being bitterly cold, it can be easy to slip into a state of hybernation or worse seasonal depression. So I wanted to share with you my tips on how we can romanticize this season and go from cold, crying girl winter to HOT girl winter.
In today's epiosde I discuss:
- Using the winter to focus on yourself- start outlining your goals for the new year, get clear on your intentions and even start practicing implementing your new years resolutions now so you're ready to hit the ground running come January 1
- Prioritize socializing- while winter is a great time to focus on you it can be easy to slip into an isolated, depressive state so make sure that you're still making time to get together with the people that love you
- Moisturize- winter is tough on your skin so make sure that you always have lip balm and hand cream ready to go and you're moisturizing your whole body every day cause no one wants to be crusty and chapped this winter
- Hair mask and face mask weekly- make it a priority to have a Sunday self-care spa night and carve out some time to take care of your hair and pretty face this winter
- Gua Sha- in the winter everyone gets a little sniffly and congested, but implementing gua sha into your self-care routine is a great way to make sure your lymphatic system is draining all that winter crud
- Hot girl walks- I know it's cold outside but bundle up and get to steppin, or if you'd rather do some cozy cardio around your house but getting those steps in will do wonders for fighting of seasonal depression
- Get cozy- bust out your favorite sweater, treat yourself to a new blanket or candle or pick up a cozy hobby and let's romanticize our lives this winter season
I can't wait to have the best winter yet and come this spring I will be a better version of me bacuse I used this time wisely! Stay warm out there y'all!
Big Sis Chat: College Advise
Growth and Goals Podcast
08/21/23 • 28 min
It's back to school season! I miss college so much, not the school work but just how fun it was, college was some of the best years of my life! So in honor of being out of college for 5 years now I wanted to look back and share the best advise for any college students beginning this amazing chapter of their life.
In this episode I discuss;
- Getting organized- find a planner or scheduling app you'll actually use and set reminders to help you stay on top of your school work
- Get involved- I met some of my best friends in college so find a way you can plug into your collegiate community
- Make your schedule work for you- the beauty of college is you get to set your schedule so create one that is condusive for you
- Never pay full price for text books- 'nuff said
- Look into your professors- check out RateMyProfessor.com
- Stay on top of your finances- everyone is broke in college but don't dig that hole any deeper. Apply for scholarships throughout your college career, learn to cook for yourself instead of eating out and take cash when you go out so you can stick to your budget
- When to splurge- I highly recommend splurging on bedding and electronics. You will spend a lot of time in your bed sleeping and studying so make sure it's comfy. Also, having a good laptop and nice headphones will definetely be a purchase you get your money's worth for
- Pack light- you can always switch out your clothes on break when you go back home; additionally, keep in mind you're not going to want to bring anything that can't be washed easily.
- Be proactive- take responsibility for your own education and devote time every day to study or review material, you will thank yourself some finals week
Your time in college are such formative years, I know it can be overwhelming being on your own for the first time in a new place while trying to figure out what you want to do with the rest of your life. Just know that it's okay to not know what you're doing, the truth is no one does. Try to enjoy this time in your life, pursue your interests, learn so much, meet amazing people and HAVE FUN!
10 Things Every 20-Something Needs To Know How To Do Pt. 1
Growth and Goals Podcast
05/15/23 • 22 min
Did you know most scientists believe that the brain doesn't fully develop until the age of 25? Well as an almost 26 year old I thought I would give you some advise on being an adult. I have learned a lot in my 5 years of adulting so I wanted to share with you some skills that have become invaluable so you can start developing them.
In today's episode I discuss:
- Being able to create a budget and stick to it. if you need help figuring out how to create a budget check out Episode 43 to hear my exact strategy for how I budget my money.
- Knowing how to use a credit card, there are so many rewards credit cards out there to choose from. You're spending the money anyway, might as well get cash back or travel points for it.
- Have 8-10 meals that you know how to make without having to look at a recipe. As an adult you need to be able to feed yourself something more than ramen so having basic cooking skills is crucial.
- Know how to grocery shop efficiently. Learn what your staple items are and start creating a back stock when things are on sale. Compare prices, plan around sales and stock up when you can.
- Know how to store food properly. if you struggle with using fresh produce up before it goes bad learn what veggies you can freeze or buy canned. Know what meals you can make and throw in the freezer for when you don't feel like cooking.
If you haven't already make sure you go back and listen to last weeks episode all about the things I wish someone had told me about adulting before I entered the real world. And don't forget to tune in next week for part 2 of this mini-series!

How To Live a Soft Life
Growth and Goals Podcast
10/23/23 • 20 min
Lately I have wanted to live a softer life, especially as we move into fall and winter, I am looking to slow down, reduce stress and focus on prioritizing my peace, comfort, mindfulness and well-being. If that sounds like the kind of life you want to live then today's episode is for you!
So, what is a "soft-life"? Well it's the exact opposite of a hard life, it's a philosophy that rebells against girl boss culture, the constant hustle and grind culture and the mentality that your worth is directly correlated to your productivity.
Now that's not to say that people living a soft-life are lazy, unproductive and don't have goals. Itt is simple an apprach to life that allows you to pursue goals and be productive while giving yourself grace, prioritizing peace and nurturing yourself along the way.
A soft life will look different for everybody but if you're wanting to move into a soft season it is important to get your mindset right first by learning to reject the struggle, release the guilt around putting yourself first and redefining success to align with what's right for you.
It is my hope that these tips help you to live a more balanced life with comfort, joy and calmness. I think we should all try to embrace self care, meaningful work and connections and delight in all life has to offer.
How To Make Better Decisions
Growth and Goals Podcast
10/02/23 • 24 min
Do you ever do something only to later find yourself replaying it in your head wishing you had made a better decision. Whether it's as simple as deciding to hit snooze or where to invest your money our decisions can have lasting impacts on our life, even the seemingly inconsequential ones, because they form our habits. So if you want to start making bettter decisions this episode is for you!
Today's tips:
- Take your time- it's okay to sleep on a decision, even small ones. I force myself to wait 24-48 hours before buying something to help me break the habit of impulse buying
- Weigh the opportunity cost- the opportunity cost of your decision is the loss of other alternatives when one is chosen. For example what else could you spend $100 on or do with an hour of your time?
- Look at it from different perspectives- imagine how each of your options will make you feel in the future, what the potential consequenses might be, etc.
- Regulate your emotions- so many of our decisions, especially the decisions we tend to regret later, are made from a very emotional state so learning to regulate your emotions can help you get back to logic and make better choises
- Make sure decisions align with your goals, intentions, values and priorities- whatever they might be, make sure that your decisions align with what you want for yourself and your life
- Trust your gut- our gut is usually right but a lot of time we start overthinking, or getting emotional and we override that gut instinct, these tips are designed to help you get back to that internal compass
There are many decisions in my life I look back and cringe at. So much money wasted on impulse buys I didn't need, so many nights of good sleep and productive days given up because I had fomo or felt peer pressured, so much time wasted not making progress becuase I decided to procrastinate. However, instead of dwelling on all of the decisions I should have made differently I wanted to take that experience and today's tips to make better decisions every day.
How To Create a Skin Care Routine
Growth and Goals Podcast
07/10/23 • 22 min
Do you feel like you have to be a chemist in order to create a skin care routine or feel overwhelmed by all the products to choose from? If so this episode is for you! Keep in mind I am not a dermatologist or estatician so if you are struggling with your skin consult a professional on what they recommend for you.
8 Step skin care routine:
1. Cleanser:
- The purpose of this is is to remove dirt and make up from your face. It is important to get a gentle cleanser, I used to think if it's burning it's working but that isn't true. If it's burning it's irritating your skin so find one that feels good for you.
2. Toner (optional)
- While toners do remove excess dirt that was missed during the cleansing process there are two types of toner, hydrating and exfoliating, so make sure to check the active ingedients to see what type of toner it is.
- Hydrating toners can be used daily and contain verious active ingredients such as vitamin C or hyaluronic acid and can be used daily as an additional cleanse
- Exfoliating toners should not be used more than twice a week and they contain AHA or BHA. AHA (glycolic and lactic acid) can be used on most skin types, while BHA (salicin) is better for oily skin as it penetrates deeper, see dermcollective.com for more info
3. Serum
- Serums are used to treat specific skin conditions, if you don't currently have any issues with your skin you can use a generic serum with active ingeriendts such as vitamin C, there are different active ingredients that treat different things, but avoid trying to treat more than one thing at a time
- If you have acne scaring vitamin E serum can help minimize the appearance of scars
- Hyaluronic acid is a good serum to use for dry skin
- Retinol is an active ingredient that can help reduce or prevent the signs of aging
- Salicylic acid is an active ingredient to look for if you have acne prone skin
- Azelaic acid and hydroquinone reduce the appearance of hyperpigmintation
4. Eye cream
- I used to think eye cream in unnessecary because I could just use a moisturizer, but many moisturizers contain fragrance, alcohol and parabens that can damage the delicate skin around the eyes
- Additionally, eye serums contain specific active ingredients that reduce dark circles and puffiness.
5. Spot treatment (optional)
- I personally use benzoyl peroxide to treat breakouts, if you struggle with severe acne consult a doctor about the best course of treatment
6. Moisturizer
- You can use any moisturizer that works best for you, however you want to make sure it contains ceramides that will help restore your skins natural barrier, this will lock in moisture and create a barrier to keep impurities out
7. Oils (optional)
- While serums treat skin conditions and moisturizers moisturize, oils are designed to nourish the skin. They each contain various fatty acids, vitamins and antioxidants that can help improve the appearance of your skin.
- Marula and Coconut oils are good for dry skin, Argon oil is good for elasticity and dark spots, Rosehip oil is good for anti-aging
- Many moisturizers may also contain these oils so this step isn't necessary, personally I only include this step in my evening skin care routine
8. SPF (AM only)
- Make sure you are putting on a minimum of SPF 30 every single morning. This will not only protect your skin from getting damaged by UV rays it will also prevent signs of aging
- Don't forget to put it on your neck as well
Having a skin care routine is a great way to incorporate self care into your daily routine and take care of your beautiful face. I hope thise helps make it a little easier on you, but of course find what works best for you.

08/26/24 • 19 min
I'M MOVING!!! I cannot believe this is happening, but after years I have finally manifested my dream destination and am moving to Charleston, South Carolina! In today's episode I am sharing my best manifestation tips, so if you've been wanting to manifest your dream destination, partner, job, etc. then this one is for you!
In today's episode I discuss:
- Take action- manifestation isn't sitting back, wishing, waiting for something to happen, and just hoping it falls into your lap. You've got to give the opportunity you want an opportunity to present itself to you
- Get crystal clear- know exactly what it is you want and then visualize it. Make a vision board, scrpit it, act as if, plan it out and get a clear vision in your mind
- Speak on it- don't be afraid to share your hopes, dreams and goals with the people you love, you won't jinks something by sharing it. It's okay to speak on things, but remember your words have meaning so be positive and optimistic.
- Don't cling to it- don't clench onto something, you recieve with an open hand. Sometimes the answer isn't necessarily no, it's just not yet so be patient and when it is meant for you it will happen.
I am so excited to share this journey with you guys and I hope that these tips help you manifest your dream destination.
Closet Cleanout
Growth and Goals Podcast
10/21/24 • 19 min
I saw a statistice that said we actually only wear about 10% of our wardrobes, at first when I heard this I thought there's no way that's true, but ask yourself how many times have you stood in your closet full of clothes and thought "I have nothing to wear".
So, if you're ready to clean out your closet, then this episode is for you! In today's episode I go over 4 methods you can use to pair down your wardrobe:
- Backwards Hangers- if you're short on time and energy this method is for you, on January 1 turn all your hangers backwards. Then throughout the year as you wear things hang them back up normally, at the end of the year all the backwards hangers have to go
- Bye Bye Bin- Keep a box or bin in your closet and every time you wear something that is uncomfortable in anyway throw it in the box. At the end of the year wash everything in the box and take it to a donation bin
- Big Purge- Try on absolutely everything in your closet to make sure it fits and even go a step further with it and figure out how you're going to style it, create an outfit and make sure that it matches the aesthetic you're going for. Also make it fun with music
- Let Go of Placeholders- Stop buying different versions of the same thing that just aren't quite right and hold out for that holy grail item. Once you find it go crazy and buy it in every color but until then don't waste money on things you won't wear
- One In One Out- This isn't a closet clean out method so much as a closet maintenence method, but it is a good rule to implement once you've done your initial declutter
Every single item in your closet should fit the body you have now, be comfortable, and suit your style. Can you say that about your closet? If not, it's time to declutter until everything in your closet is an option. No more saying, I have nothing to wear.
