Content Creation Workflow

play

08/22/22 • 18 min

It’s always interesting to see how other creatives and professionals work, isn't it? To see what their environment is like. Where they take inspiration from. How they actually do the work. And so I thought I’d share a bit about my process, a peak behind the curtain, as more and more of us realize we are content creators.

I kinda feel like a basking shark. You know those sharks that filter feed? They just swim through the water with their mouths open, gathering all of the plankton, leaving behind what they don’t need.Key Points:
  • The Physical and Emotional Workspace (2:00)
  • The Importance of a Plan (6:47)
  • The Inspiration: like a basking shark (8:57)
  • The Creation Process (13:24)
  • The Programs I Use (15:39)

Internal Communication and Your Small Businesses

Connections, Coffee & Confidence

play

03/07/22 • 18 min

Maybe not the sexiest aspect of communications (comms is a sexy topic, right, not just me?) internal communications is still incredibly important. Whether your team is you, you and your VA, or you and a team of 12, how you manage internal communications will impact the efficiency, longevity and culture of your business. This episode runs down the benefits, the possible solutions and their implications for your team, and what you need to think when it comes to working with and managing the people in your business.

When there are regular communications within an organization, everyone learns a lot - whether they’re paying attention or not. How you communicate with others and how often, what you communicate, tells people what you value. It helps shape the culture of the company. Key Points:
  • Benefits of internal communications to a small business (4:32)
  • Tech options and the implications those solutions may have on both the message and the recipients (6:36)
  • The caveats of different methods of communicating with your team: Intentionality & Consistency (13:27)

I’m so grateful you choose to spend some of your precious time with me in your ears. If you enjoy this podcast, I’d be extra grateful if you could rate & review so more people can hear it. Those who take the time to rate and review, then screenshot it and tag me on instagram at @janiceefogarty will be entered to win a 30 minute session with me so we can discuss whatever communications challenge you and your business are facing right now. :-)

She Loves The Question

Connections, Coffee & Confidence

play

01/31/22 • 66 min

This week's interview is with Meg Heppner, a life coach, hypnotherapist, blogger, event host and podcaster. She's passionate about walking with people who want more out of life than just the status quo. She believes that life doesn’t have to work out exactly the way we think it “should” in order to be enjoyed and that people don’t have to be perfect in order to be loved. She has opinions - and doesn't profess to be right - but she loves to talk about them. This is a very open discussion of lots of those opinions, from love to consumerism to judgement, and part of this discussion may be uncomfortable for some as it discusses alcoholism and abuse. If you are in anyway affected by these topics, please stop listening around the 30 minute mark but make sure to come back around minute 35 as the rest of the conversation is not to missed.

My clients are the good girls... women who have done it right but who still aren't satisfied.

Points of interest:

  • Listening to the meaning behind the words
  • Ethical messaging
  • Spiritual side of entrepreneurship
  • Secret to longevity
  • Consumerism and having different goals
  • Business flow and matching your energy

Easy Set Up for Successful Content Creation

Connections, Coffee & Confidence

play

02/14/22 • 15 min

It feels good to create content intuitively; that place where you don’t feel the pressure of what to say or how to say it with grace and style and perfection, you just say it as often as you can, as many ways as you can because you believe it so fully. You just know it’s the right thing to say. But not everyone is happy to feel their way through things like content creation and writing. This episode provides 4 tips to easily set up a content creation framework.

Work out your messaging. This is where the purpose of your content comes in... Really good messaging is a combination of your purpose, your intent, said in your client’s words and voice.Key Points:
  • Tip 1 Client Voice: Collect Client Words and Phrases (4:51)
  • Tip 2 Messaging: Being Purposeful Creates Ease (7:09)
  • Tip 3 Your Writing Practise: Set Up for Maximum Creativity Flow (9:34)
  • Tip 4 Know When to Stop: Know when your good enough is good enough (12:32)

Connections, Coffee & Confidence

02/07/22 • 14 min

Someone recently told me she had never considered podcasts as PR. Well. I can’t even tell you what happened inside my brain. There was a momentary short circuit. Because podcasts are absolutely a PR tactic. When you consider public relations is all about creating and maintaining relationships, and your voice plays such a huge part in expressing yourself, podcasts can be a significant tool in your promotional and reputational toolbox. In this episode, I break down ten benefits of guesting on podcasts.

Key Points:
  • An interested audience you didn't have to build (2:17)
  • If you like to talk, this is your medium (3:18)
  • Less work than other PR tactics and it's still free (4:31)
  • Humanize your brand (5:26)
  • Boost your SEO (6:03)
  • Increased sales (7:03)
  • Longevity: podcasts live for years (7:58)
  • Talk about the stuff you love (9:30)
  • Networking (10:50)
  • Discovery: Talk therapy and self-discovery (11:38)

Take Control of Your Brand

Connections, Coffee & Confidence

play

02/28/22 • 16 min

If you’re building your business or you’re at a stage where you need to offload some of your content design, a brand guide will help keep your brand identity cohesive, contribute to your reputation, increase people’s impression of your company, and just make life easier for whoever is creating your content. Even if that person is you. Have a listen to more benefits of a brand identity guide, what you'd use it for and what goes into creating one.

Also - In the next 100 episodes, I’m aiming to grow this audience - ratings and reviews are a huge part of that. I am so grateful that you choose to spend some of your precious time with me in your ears. If you enjoy this podcast, I’d be extra grateful if you left me a review and rating (you know I’m hoping for a full five stars there). My way of saying thank you for those who take the time to rate and review, then screenshot it and tag me on instagram at @janiceefogarty is to enter you in to win a 30 minute session with me so we can discuss whatever communications challenge you and your business are facing right now. :-)

Key Points:

  • A cohesive brand identity builds the know/like/trust factor (8:59)
  • A cohesive brand identity builds increased perceived value (9:35)
  • A cohesive brand identity streamlines design and creation (10:05)
  • A cohesive brand identity empowers you to have over design and creation responsibilities (10:57)
  • Brand guide contents (11:56)

Public relations takes strategy, skill, hard work and a bit of luck so it makes sense that you'd want to be sure of a payoff before investing your time, effort and maybe even your money. This episode outlines 5 key benefits - and a heck of a lot more - the PR can provide your business, no matter the size, industry, or turnover.

Key Points:
  • Visibility: how do you create relationships if no one knows you exist? (2:15)
  • Credibility: enables you to increase your prices and bring in new people (3:59)
  • Identity: if you don't already have this crystal clear, PR will make it happen (7:16)
  • Longevity: who's in business for the short-term? (10:14)
  • Boost SEO: PR makes you more searchable (11:35)
  • More (knock-on) benefits explained (12:41)

I've Learned to Trust Myself

Connections, Coffee & Confidence

play

01/17/22 • 60 min

This is a second appearance on the podcast by my friend and client Karen Howley of CRT Legal - a local law firm with a global reach. Karen is a Canadian immigration and real estate lawyer whose business acumen is enviable. I invited her back on because the decisions she has taken and the changes she has implemented in growing her professional business in a traditionally male-dominated field governed by convention are inspirational. It's one of the greatest conversations about business that I've had yet and I am really excited for you to listen.

Key Points:

  • The connection between relationship development and business growth
  • Hiring staff for personality and training for skill; the pain of an employee mismatch
  • Dealing with imposter syndrome
  • Intuition in law - as a woman, as an entrepreneur
  • Hiring professionals to support your business so you can do what you're good at
