Cold Case Crew

Banking Executive LaRoy Gorman seemingly had the world on a string. Gorman, a self made man who scaled the proverbial ladder of success, sat on the board of multiple charities and was a well respected member of the Charleston Business Community. On the evening of November 12, 1982, Gorman and his girlfriend were leaving the Steak and Ale Restaurant when he was struck by three (3) gunshots as he attempted to enter his vehicle. His assailant promptly peeled out of the parking lot, never to be identified. But what started out as a fairly straightforward investigation into one of Charleston’s most respectable citizens soon became muddled with confusion as revelations of Gorman’s personal life were brought into question. Who would want to kill LaRoy Gorman? Join the CCC for the final installment in our “Crimes of Our Capitol City Series” The 1982 “Murder of LaRoy Gorman,” a Cold Case local to Kanawha County, WV.

undefined - The Murder of Lynn Priestley

The Murder of Lynn Priestley

On the evening of Friday, March 16, 1990, thirty four (34) year old Lynn Parker Priestley went out with some friends and a man she was casually dating for dinner and drinks. Lynn and her date broke away from the group for a stint of time, patronizing the Tidewater Grill in the Charleston Town Center. Lynn agreed to meet up with her friends at a popular bar, Spanky’s about an hour later, but she would never show up. Despite the conflicting timelines of events, the facts of Lynns case are simple: she was last seen alive around 12:30am by a bailiff outside the Judicial Annex Building downtown. At the time of this encounter, she was said to have been arguing with a man who was presumably her date. Lynn’s nude body was discovered five (5) days later by a fisherman on the banks of the Kanawha River between Chesapeake and Cheylan. What sequence of events took place after 12:30am in the early hours of March 17, 1990? How did Lynn Priestley end up dead on the side of a riverbank? Join the Cold Case Crew as they re-tell “The Murder of Lynn Priestley” a Cold Case local to Charleston, WV and the second in our “Crimes of Our Capitol City” series.
