Chill Pills - Uplifting Chillout Music with downtempo, vocal and instrumental chill out, lofi chillhop, lounge and ambient

This mix got inspired by one of my best discoveries of this year: Zane Callister, whose Young Collective productions and UTAH band music embody the uplifting spirit of Chill Pill mixes. Check him out at soundcloud.com/young-collective.

Another inspiration came from the second track, Her Name by Arros & Light Memory, which samples words from one of my favorite sci-fi films Her. The whole quote goes like this:

It’s like I’m reading a book... and it’s a book I deeply love. But I’m reading it slowly now. So the words are really far apart and the spaces between the words are almost infinite. I can still feel you... and the words of our story... but it’s in this endless space between the words that I’m finding myself now. It’s a place that’s not of the physical world. It’s where everything else is that I didn’t even know existed. I love you so much. But this is where I am now. And this who I am now. And I need you to let me go. As much as I want to, I can’t live your book any more.

Music inspires most of my mixes, but every now and then different forms of art do, be it written or visual. This mix is inspired by the latter. A wonderful painting, called “The ocean is my happy place”, from the talented, Florida-based artist Lena Belyaeva (instagram.com/lenasart2019). You can almost say her paintings are the visual version of my uplifting mixes, so I’m honored to feature her work as cover art. It really brings me so much joy every time I scroll through her paintings, and I couldn’t think of a better title for the mix than the feeling her works imbued.
