We’ve made it to 50! I am so very proud of how far this show has come. Since its inception in 2016, my goal has been to produce quality uplifting chillout mixes. Every one of them, including this anniversary mix, is a true labor of love. I have so many favorites to mention here, and if you like what you hear here, there’s a catalog full of them to explore.

With this mix, I want to invite you to fall in love with a style of chillout music called Chillhop. It’s a style that brings together lofi hip hop beats with a rather jazzy and relaxed feel.

One day, I was sampling music on Bandcamp when I stumbled across City Girl’s incredible album: Siren of the Formless. I had heard (and previously featured) this style of music, but never have I heard such an exquisite full-length album showcasing wonderful combination of smooth jazz elements, dusty vintage samples, and laid back hip-hop beats. I listened to this album on repeat and set out on a journey to discover the best of what this genre has to offer.

“Promise of New Beginnings Among Old Endings”, a beautiful upbeat track by the talented producer Fort Road, has inspired me to create a mix themed around our deep-rooted desire to be free from oppression and be in control of our destiny.

This is yet another throwback mix that was released exactly 5 years ago under my previous pseudonym DJ Seroton in a series called Unwind. I worked on this mix for a while, and I was so pleased with how it turned out. To my delight, friskyRadio quite liked it and decided to promote it as a guest mix on their long-running Chillout Sundays on 7/6/2015. The mix aired and did really well that friskyRadio approached me for an offer to have a monthly show, which airs to this day. It was an incredible feeling to finally get a worldwide stage for my mixes and a chance to reach bigger audience of people who appreciate this kind of melodic and positive chillout and ambient music.
